AB:14 is the latest release in our Abstrakt series and is an oak aged Imperial Weizenbock. Expect a big, bold mouth-feel backed by some powerful banana, caramel, toffee, vanilla and spicy hits woven together with some classic weizen notes. All balanced by an eclectic yet bizarrely balanced variety of hops from America (Simcoe) the Czech (Saaz) and the UK (Bramling Cross).
The beer is at 10.2% ABV and has been aged on toasted French oak chips. As close to bannoffee pie as a beer can taste. Seriously.
This beer was the brainchild of our German Lead Brewer Franz. - See more at: http://www.brewdog.com/blog-article/impending-liquid-anarchy-some-upcoming-beers#sthash.Fvn7kB0i.dpuf

3.6Pours a brown hazy body with no head. Fruity aroma. Rich taste of wood and dried fruit. Very nice but a bit too old?
4.0Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer.
3.5Piwo metne w kolorze pomaranczowo brazowym nalewa sie prawie bez piany. W aromacie nuty Weizenowe, drewniana beczka, karmel i rodzynki.
4.4Bottle 3082 of 9992 of 10.06.2013. Red amber color. Excellent aroma: sweet and malty, plum wine, white sweet sherry and oak. Taste powerful: very malty, white sherry, wood and sun-dried banana, dried fruit, raisins. Like.
3.4Beautiful hazy amber liquid . Aroma is interesting with fruit, berries, sweet aromas like brown sugar and caramel - but here the magic stops. The taste is too "boozy", the alcohol just takes over. The only other element is the sweetness and it becomes to much.
4.1375 ml. Bottle 10297 of 10500, bottled almost exactly three years ago. Pours orangey red/brown with a super fine whitish yellow foam that is so well integrated in this drink. The bouquet is very big, filling my large glass with ease giving off strokes of chocolate, raisins, dried apricots, vanilla and some nuts. Taste is like liquid raisins and dates. I think this bottle is a bit passed it?s golden days, the hops has withered a bit. But it is a very full and medium+ complex brew. Looking forward to try the other AB?s!
3.8Bottle, 2013. Pours clear reddish Amber, small beige head, decent lacing. Aroma is boozy, vanilla, toffee, oak. Flavor is quite sweet, light bitter, oak, toffee, hints of clove, sherry. Medium body, lingering bitterness. No longer much of a weizenbock, but what it has become is interesting in its own right.
4.4Bottle 330ml (2013) - cellared for 3 years. Served at room temperature. Pours a deep mahogany. Head is small, off white and quickly dissipates. Aroma is immensely complex and rich; fine cognac, fruitcake, burnt toffee, caramelized dates, overripe figs, dark cherries, maple syrup, vanilla, oak and Christmas spices. Flavour is extremely rich and smooth with virtually no bitterness at all; fine cognac, sticky stewed figs (strong), muscatels, Christmas pudding, golden syrup, burnt toffee sauce, rancio notes and oak. Full bodied with very soft carbonation, a syrupy texture and a long, warming finish. ABV is very well hidden. Not what I was expecting at all!!! A truly superb winter warmer in every sense!!!
3.5Bottle [from trade with Scopey I think, thanks Paul!] @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus, Joes and Judyvv. Red-brown color, quickly disappearing off-white head. Smell and taste malts, sweet, sweetish alcohol, some dark sugar, lightly bitter in the finish. Not bad, but it’s not my style.
3.8Bottle @ joes. Brown colour with no head. Smells raisins, sweet, overripe fruit, barley wine. Tastes appelstroop, syruppy, sweet, barley wine, oak. Full body, soft carbo.
3.0Bottled from Systembolaget bought a few years ago.
Cloudon dark amber with almost no head.
Very sweet in both aroma and flavour. Sherry-like flavour with wooden notes and fruity fudge.
4.5An orange-brown body with no head. The nose is a bit of a masterpiece featuring raisins, brandy, plums, brown sugar and toffee malts. The taste is all that and more - a deep mixture of raisins, leather, toffee, banana, ripe dark berries, tobacco, candied fruit and a nice booze burn. It is very full bodied and rich with a slight sweet stickiness. They don’t stand out, but there are hops under all those layers of taste holding the whole thing up. Although there is no head, there is a slight effervescent effect which helps mitigate the sweetness. A real treat.
4.6From 0,375l bottle, nmr.:1872/9992 Bottled on 10/06/13 Pours cloudy amber red liquid, minimal tan head, Aroma: rich banana, candy, gingerbread, warming alcohol, raisins, candied plums/ plum jam, griotte cherry, wood, spices, Taste: heavy sweet, medium bitter, light to medium sour, gingerbread, lemon peel, candy, raisins, banana, Palate: full body, soft carbonation, thick oily mouthfeel, long sweet aftertaste, Overall: excellent liquid, enjoyed, full bodied, thick, oily, layered, complex, warming, winter period, fruity, jam, gingerbread, easy drinkable.
3.5Hazy pale brown with no head. Nose is fruits, nuts. Aromas are dark fruits, candi, caramel, barley wine note. Low carbonation, oily texture. Long sweet finish.
4.0It was the beer
sweet, thick, lots of wheat and yeasty esters, fruity qualities. Very tasty, yellow hazy in color, sipping brew. Almost barleywine caramely.
4.1Bottle@William K, Kurvi. Deep, reddish-amber color, no head. Sweet, oaky aroma reminiscent of barley wine. Sweet flavor with toffee, banana (as promised!), fig jam, vanilla, cigars and a hint of warming alcohol. Thick, syrupy mouthfeel. Very full body, very light carbonation. A dessert unto itself. Drink this by the fire when it's snowing outside!
3.7Bottle @ home. Pours with a very dark red colour, small diminishing off-white head. Aroma is very rich in caramel, toffee, fruit and brown sugar aromas, with some minor notes of vanilla, chocolate and licorice; not very elegant, but right to the point, in typical abstrakt style. Taste is heavy sweet, with not much else; probably a bit too sweet? Medium body, oily texture, flat carbonation.
4.1On tap @ Csakajósör - Reddish deep amber colour, small but persistent beige head with lacing. Intense sweet malty aromas, caramel, red berries, dried plum, cloves, some banana with earthy notes, some flowery hops. Taste is sweet, bread with caramel, blackcurrant, raisins, red wine, yeasty notes, slight spicy hop bitteness. Full body, moderate carbonation, sticky texture. Alcohol is well hidden, but noticeable. Very nice speciality beer for winter.
3.737.5cl at OBE2015 (Thank you FatPhil) 7284/9992 Flat, sweer brew. Strong aroma of Kumquat. Spicy all around. Citrucy and mellow. Extremely well handles its alcohol. This would be a perfect winter beer. Loved it.
3.7Reddish cognac colour, beer full of mini-UFO’s; small yellowish cream head, fast receding. Spicy, woody, fusely aroma’s. Fortified wine; sweet, caramel to toffee. Bitterish, with sweet-cakey background. Ripe banana, toffee, but with sweetness held in check; fusels. Something mineral, nearly salty too. Feels well-carbonated, very slick to oily; well-bodied, bit burning MF; alcoholheat. Little Weizen, IMO, rather a Barley Wine (or Wheat Wine, if you prefer) - whatever: good.
3.3375ml bottle (300e of overpriced beer tasting) (Alus Celle, Riga)
Smells old and aged, a bit oxidised, but it gets better as it warms. Tops pour was clear, and that had some acetone. Taste of that is quite raisiny. Cloudier one had even more raisins, but more of a bread pudding melange. A little sticky, but not heavy or boozy, and at 10.2% that’s worth crediting it an extra point.
3.5Bottle. Dark amber color. Malty caramelly soft spicy nutty aroma. Very sweet, nutty flavor with caramel, hints of cognac and dried fruit. Milk chocolate. Hardly any carbon. Alcohol totally hidden. Hardly recognizable as a weizenbock, but well done.
3.7375ml bottle (thanks FatPhil). Deep dark amber color. Sweet, caramel, spicy, clove, orange peel in aroma. Sweet, caramel, faint clove, ginger in taste. Complex and multi-layer taste. Sweet gingerbread in aftertaste. Despite of being way too sweet it’s very well done. Enjoyable brew.
3.7Clear orange amber beer, has gone flat. Nose is caramel, oak, vanilla, spice. Flavor is vanilla, caramel, booze, spice, oak, sticky sweetness. Hoppy notes in the finish with more sticky sweetness and booze. Lingering caramel, herbal hops.
4.1Rated based on notes taken 15 Sep 2014 -- I love this style, and this is an interesting (but delicious) take on it. Well done brewdog.
3.8Pours brown like sweet sherry with minimal carbonation and no head to speak of. Smells of liquorice and slightly woody. Tastes sweet, caramel and slightly dry after taste. Very thick on the palate, almost like food. Not sure this has any liking to a weizenbock i’ve ever had. strange flavour. undecided on whether i actually like this one or not.
3.637.5cl bottle at home from Only Good Beer, Budapest. Body is hazy rusty brown, head is flat, minimal lacing. Nose is brown sugar, red wine, light coffee liqueur. Flavor is wine, toast, light smoke, spices, dried fruits, wood. Heavy sweet, light bitter, light sour. Finish is short lasting light roasty bitter, light sweet sour, hint of alcohol warmth. Full body, sticky texture, soft carbonation. Quite sweet therefore a bit heavy, very interesting and unique, but as it’s too sweet it’s not my style.
3.2Bottle, many thanks to madmitch76, cheers ken!
Bottle number 8565 of 9992 to toast Lucy leaving Brewdog Bar Bristol and going to Cloudwater.
Poured into my EurHop festival glass. Dark murky colour, looks like sewage water, and also caramel colour too. Not good.
Aroma is booze, toffee, bannoffee pie, sweet malts, alcohol and oak and wood. Taste is caramel, toffee pudding/pie, licorice, nectar, honey, some Simcoe bite and booze. A little too much crystal and too much booze on the finish.
An interesting style and a good attempt at copying it but not my thing.
3.9375ml bottle at home. Hazy dark brown with a small soapy tan head. Full body with low to moderate carbonation. Very sweet with some bitter tones. Raisin, caramel, malts, dried fruits, spices and wheat. A tasty full flavoured brew.
