It’s time for our interpretation of the classic Italian tiramisu dessert - AB:20. A blend of an epic English barley wine brewed with coffee, oats and milk.
AB:20 has a deep and alluring nose of molasses, brandy and a spicy hit from the rum cask. On the palate are rich, decadent flavours of coffee bean, chocolate and vanilla. Expect a full bodied and chewy brew with notes of caramel and biscuit. This beer gains complexity as it warms in the glass. Enjoy!

3.5Bottle, very hard to open. Pours nearly clear very dark brown with almost no head at all. Clear aroma of caramel malt and alcohol, with notes of dried fruit and touches of yeast. Bitter, roasty and boozy onset, with sweetish notes of chocolate, dried fruit, malt, caramel and yeast. Lingering, bitter afteraste with caramellish touches. Warming alcohol presence. Potent but not aggressive. Decent.
3.0Deep and dark, rather brown in colour. Touch of caramel sweetness alongside expected bitter liquorice tastes. Eye-watering strong!
3.9Bottle. Tmavo bordová, až hnedá farba, bez peny. Vôňa sladká, mierne karamel, prezreté slivky, čokoláda. Chuť sladká, oriešková, čokoláda, kakao, prezreté slivky, mierne ako keby silne cervene vino. Alkohol v pozadí dosť vystupuje.
3.2Bottle from BrewDog Advent Calendar 2019. Brown. Just
dull old English brown, flat with very little head. Stone fruit and raisin aroma. I’m thinking barley wine rather than stout having not had any clues from the label. It’s all prune juice raisins aged over bourbon. Not very nice if I’m honest. This is warm brown flat crap of the first order.
2.4375mml. bottle as part of the "EFP Brewdog Advent Calendar. Day 7". @home. 09/12/2019. [#3.131 Global - #75 Scotland - #23 Brewdog].
Murky brown colour with a thin tan head. Aroma is dried fruits, vinegar and tobacco. Taste is sweet and flat. Licorice flat finish. Oversweet and boozy. Bottled in 2016, maybe just did not aged well.
Next one please!
4.037,5cl Bottle @ BrewDog Online Store, Fraseburgh, United Kingdom.

3.8Bottle from BrewDog online store.
Wooohoo. Sweet as fuck, like really. Interesting mixture of rum, tobacco, coffee and sugar. Way too sweet for me.
3.5A 375ml corked and caged bottle, bottle 38,773 of 45,800, bottled on 14th March 2016, poured into a snifter glass. It was a cloudy dark brown colour with almost no head and no lacing. Aromas of coffee grounds, sweet caramel malt, dark fruit, figs, plum, licorice, brown sugar and alcohol. Tastes sweet, caramel, chocolate milk, dark fruit, fig, raisin and a boozy finish. Creamy, full bodied with no carbonation. Overall, nice aromas and interesting flavours, but I would have preferred some kind of carbonation.
4.3Bottle - 375ml. Pours a muddy brown body with a fading, thin, off-white foamy head. Rich malty/hoppy aroma with brown sugar, woody, whisky, and some spicy notes. Its rich malty/hoppy taste carries caramel, woody, and whisky notes. Ends with a long, warming bittersweet finish. Excellent.
3.9A hazed dark brown ale with a thin light mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with vinous notes, light licorice, alcohol warmth, very nice and complex. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity caramel malt with light licorice, alcohol warmth, very nice. Bottle at L'autre oeil.
3.9From Vitriol, 375ml bottle.
Appearance : Opaque black with a small head.
Aroma : Tiramisu !!! I went start to my computer to read about it and BAM, tiramisu...
Taste : Tiramisu.
Palate : Rich and round.
Overall : Another perfect night cap that last a long time at room temperature.
3.7375ml bottle from Brewdog.com (£10):
Dark & slightly murky brown with the odd red tinge running through it & a few small bubbles rising to the surface after an aggressive pour; sadly there’s no sign of a head really & what there was disappeared quite fast. The nose is naturally strong but not as overpowering as expected given the strength of the beer, I got plenty of grapes & alcohol to give the beer a port like nose with some cherry sweetness & hints of coffee further on. Plenty of sugars & some strong, complex dark fruits followed to see things out with the nose. The taste is similarly strong with a lot of dark fruits, cherries & dates with a slight acidity & a bit of roasted coffee too. Overall the beer is full bodied with almost no carbonation given the age but its held up much better than expected & was pleasantly drinkable despite being a very strong one; lm glad I'm trying it when I did rather than ageing it any further though.
3.7KØLF 080219. Dark brown color with no nead. Aroma is soy sauce. Flavor is soy sauce, dried fruits, oats, chocolate, vanilla, dried fruits, sugar, malt, caramel.
3.9Bottled. 375ml sample. The aroma is strong figs, some raisin, boozy tones. Bit hazy, brown coloured beer with no head. The taste is sweet, bit boozy light bitter in the finish. There is a lot of figs again, honey, some raisins and caramel. Terrible cork btw. It would even pop out with force, had to use my corkscrew to the max. Seemed like undepressur or vaccuum. well the beer is very low on carb, so that might explain.
EDIT: After sipping a few more this beer becomes more balanced and I enjoyed it quite a lot. 3.3 -> 3.9
3.4Bottle. Unclear brown body with no head. Aroma has sweet malt, caramel and alcohol. Flavor is sweet, very sweet dark malt, dry fruit, soy and alcohol. Fill bodied and long lasting aftertaste of sweet alcoholic malt with dry fruit. Either the cellar times has removed all the tiramisu flavors or this is just not my thing. Boozy, sweet and one dimensional.
3.8Bottle: Poured a dark brown color ale with no head or lacing. Aroma of caramelized malt notes with some residual sugar notes. Taste is also a mix of heavy caramelized malt notes with some toffee, some residual sugar and light port notes. Body is about average with no carbonation. Took a little while to get used to the fact that there is no carbonation but enjoyable nightcap nonetheless.
4.2Bottle #23385 of 45800. Dark brown color. Strong alcoholic aroma, alcohol, coffee and liqueur, whiskey, sweetness. Taste: coffee liqueur with white port wine, very warming, caramel, butterscotch, powerfully and good.
3.8375 ml plastic-corked bottle (no. 04619 of 45800, bottled on 14/03/16), bought at Owlsome Bottles in New Town Plaza, Sha Tin.
Looks: Turbid deep copper brown colour with a thin ring of dirt-like yeast sediments; Virtually no head with bare residual soapy off-white foam which fades in 5 seconds; No lacing with almost no carbonation.
Aroma: Very fragrant brown malt, with strong wood barrel, heavy spices, strong Brandy and liquorices, strong dark fruits, strong caramel, toffee, shades of milk coffee, heavy molasses, strong dry biscuits, lemon and light grass.
Taste: Strong sweet brown malt, with strong warm Brandy-like liquor, strong liquorices, milk coffee, strong dark fruits, strong caramel, vanilla, toffee, heavy molasses, strong spices, lemon, mid to fair bitter hops and light grass.
Body: Full body; Thin but very slick palate.
Mouth Feel: Strong brown maltyness in a light background. Very thin, at time watery due to barrels but the malt and sweetness is concentrated and quite refreshing, not heavy at all. Brandy-centric with concentrated dark fruits caramel, milk coffee and vanilla. Nicely strong sweetness, heavily spicy with lemon to round. Nice!
Booze: the 14.2% abv is initially warming but chilled soon afterwards. Brandy-ish, never harsh and pretty easy going, and because the malt is sweet but not cloying, their complement each other well. Nice!
Hoppiness: Lemon and light grass in nose and taste; Bitterness - mostly liquorices - is fair for a lasting, medium astringent sweet-bitter caramel malty finish.
After Taste: Quite dry. Brandy sweet spicy and light bitter to mouth.
Comments: Hard to put my finger on this one because it has bits of everything: a strong Brown Ale, strong spicy wooden barrels, tasty Brandy-like liquor, and lots of coffee and vanilla. Pretty winey as it's so thin in body, but so potent in pleasing malt sweetness and booze. Simple-minded but easy going, I like it!
3.6Bottle. Hazy brownish-bronze with no head. The aroma is oxidised with notes of dried fruits some prune, alcohol, salted snack and apricot leather. The flavor is sweet and mild bitter with notes of alcohol, umami, dried fruits, apricot leather, prune, wood, raisin and liqueur. Full-bodied.
3.5At a tasting, many thanks, no head, very dark brown color, aroma of prunes, apricot leather and a hint of umami. flavor of coffee liquor, dark bread, earthy hint and lots of alcohol showing with some chocolate coming through. Nice and interesting in small measures, a little difficult to drink.
3.4375ml bottle. Pours dark brown, almost no head. Aroma is sweet, nutty, raisins, hints of moldy basement. Taste is very sweet, raisins, boozy, cognac, cherry, molasses. Sweet molasses in aftertaste. Medium + body, low carbonation. Sweet and boozy, but okish
4.2Aged two years.
Pours murky red with an off-tan head that disappears quickly.
Nose is malty, like a rich tea biscuit. Slight earthy rum, candy floss, liqueurs, syrup and light tobacco.
Palate is moderate to thick with a slight wateriness.
Taste is heavy sweetness, the earthiness from the nose (rum cask), milk, spice, oak, cough medicine, nuts, porridge and chocolate.
Complex yet very sweet. A definite dessert beer.
4.7Bottle aged for approx. 2 years. Pours brown with light, albeit sustained, carbonation. Malty sweet nose is the weakest part here. Silky smooth and substantial palate accompanying delicious sweet malt and fruit flavour and just a touch of hops. Superb.
3.9Bottle from Vinmonopolet,, Kvadrat. Pours murky dark amber,, no head. Malty aroma, sugars and spice. Taste is smooth, light vanilla, sugar, dark malts, caramel, toffee,, with a nice warm liqueur feel to it, delicious evening supper(sipper)
4.2Strong coffee and rum, chocolate, biscuit soaked in rum, milk stout, alcohol, light herbal. Pitch black color with no head. Biscuit, coffee, chocolate, chocolate liqueur candy, cocoa, coffee, sweet fruit. Can't believe it, but alcohol is not noticeable on crazy 14.2%, only some light warmth down the throat and that's it. Unbelievable. Full body, flat carbonation, oily, sticky, thick.
3.7Bottle. Aroma is ripe pears, honey, wet wood, caramel, earthy coffee, fresh paint, nuts. Medium body, smooth, a bit boozy, very sweet. Not-so-silent killer.
3.8Thin beige head left a collar on a reddish brown still body.
Massive woody aroma with oak, pine, under ripe berry & citrus.
Medium to full bodied, super smooth with no carbonation, oily & slick down the throat.
Bitter sweet berries, citrus, peach, plum, oak, wood & herb tastes - slightly medicinal.
No hint of alcohol. This is so drinkable!
3.5Weird idea of a tiramisu beer - but then, what is weird in a world teeming with experimental craft beers... Bottle at Belgium Chimipalooza, thanks Guy for sharing. Loose and unstable, quickly vanishing, egg-white head over a hazy caramel brown beer with burgundy hue. Aroma of passionfruit, pear syrup, treacle, varnish, fresh paint, honey liqueur, black peppercorns, caramel, sweet sherry, hazelnut. Sweet, even somewhat syrupy candied date-like onset, pear and blackcurrant notes, hot alcohol effect palpable from the start with a harsh, unpleasantly astringent solventy effect (nail polish remover), very soft carb (if not flat). Slick caramelly and toffeeish malt body, liquorice and clove notes, low in bitterness while the sweetness sticks and the booze, in a moonshine-like way, keeps overpowering. Sweet, sticky barleywine, in itself not a bad thing if you like strong dessert beers, but way too boozy for its own good, even for the style; not too much tiramisu to be found here either, unless with imagination. There are better works of art in this series, even if it remains an interesting and bold idea - have an extra point for that.
3.5Bottled 375ml at Beer Hunters. Vintage 2016. Deep ruby colour, no head. Salted licorice, alcohol, raisins, tyre in the nose. Medium-bodied. Very sweet. Raisins, dates, brown sugar. Coffeish background. Nice dessert beer.
