BrewDog Abstrakt AB:24

BrewDog Abstrakt AB:24

AB:24 is an imperial-strength Baltic Porter brewed with muscovado sugar and cold-brew coffee. This is a beer that is rich and warming, with a fruity coffee kick.

Lovely now or for drinking with friends far into the future, this elaborate one-off brew will be satisfying no matter what the occasion.

3.4 Bottle. Black. Roast, bit old coffin, murkyness on nose, slightly sweet soy sauce, chocolate, dark sugar. Full bodied, clean, molassy, cocoa nibs in flavour. Pretty heavy, kinda dry feeling though, mellow. Dry cocoa nibs in finish. Decent drink, strange mixture though.. not seeing the concept. A weaker abstrakt. Is quite mellow and realex though, think it has some age on it.
3.9 Black with a medium light brown head. Aroma of chocolate, wooden barrels and sweet malt. Sweet with a warm chocolate and wooden barrels ending.
4.0 375ml bottle. Almost black with a tan head. Aroma of dark malts, coffee, chocolate, dried fruits. Taste is sweet, coffee, dark chocolate, brown sugar, dried fruits, caramel, light roasty bitterness. Medium-full bodied.

4.0 On tap@ BrewDog St. Pauli, Hamburg. Schwarzes blickdichtes Bier, feiner beiger Schaum. Karamalz Duft. Bayrisch Malz Bonbons. Weicher Malzantrunk. Etwas Vanille. Schmeckt wie ein flüssiges Malzbonbon. Wuchtig, dicht. Genau das richtige am Freitag Nachmittag! Alkoholischer Abgang. Malz und Mais.
3.6 Shared bottle at local tasting. pours almost pitch back with no head . Aroma of dark malts. Taste is smooth dark malty, lovely creamy beer
4.1 Shared 375 ml waxed bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. Black colour, small beige head. Nice roasty and malty aroma and flavour hints of chocolate and mild coffee. Nice beer, easy drinking for its strength.
4.2 375ml bottle from Brewdog.com (£6.65): Dark ruby to black, opaque with a 0.5cm head that's foamy & light brown. Strong & sweet on the nose, lots of sugars, coffee bitterness & darker fruits; mainly cherries with some alcohol too. Not an overpowering taste, balanced well with coffee, dark fruits & less sugar than the nose plus faint chocolate at the end. It's full-bodied, rich & lightly carbonated but goes down really well.
3.8 Bottle from BD Tower Hill. Rich aroma. Liqourice and coffee. Caramel strands. Very dark brown. Glossy. Foamy tan head soon shrinks away. Initially quite smooth (tangy liqourice and roast with some sugary hints) before medium-heavy bitterness comes through. Underlying sourness. The booze gradually gains prominence and as I drink more do does sweet edged burnt caramel. Light-medium bodied. Oily. Flat-average carbonation. Long astringent finish. Boozy flavoursome stuff. Warming.
3.7 330mml. bottle as part of the "EFP Brewdog Advent Calendar. Day 12". @home. 15/12/2019. [#3.145 Global - #81 Scotland - #29 Brewdog]. Pours black with a small beige head. Good retention. Aroma is burnt brown sugar, dark fruits and dark chocolate. Taste is brown sugar and dark berries. Medium dry finish. Enjoyable and easy to drink despite the ABV. Next one please!
5.0 My new favourite stout. The rich but not overpowering flavour of coffee and chocolates make this a really nice beer that will warm you up
4.2 Nose of ash, chalk, dark fruit and a touch of chocolate. A light tan head on a black body. Taste has several levels and elements. Caramel, burnt butter, dark chocolate, citrus hops, brown sugar, dark berries and plums are well blended. Starts out relatively sweet but ends with a dry sustaining flavour. Relatively dense for a porter. Medium body with slightly more carbonation than most dark Abstrakts. Stays relatively clean to the end as a porter should. Sterling.
3.7 Pours black with a small beige head. Aroma ofroasted malt, caramel, brown sugar and dark fruit. Sweet taste that ends up being slightly more dry and quite bitter. Somewhat alcoholic flavor. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft carbonated. A very nice Porter.🌟🌟🌟🌟
3.4 Draught @ Highlanders Bar, Aarhus. Pours pitch black with a creamy brown head, light lacings. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, licorice, alcohol. Flavor is sweet, rich malty, caramel, brown sugar, little licorice, heavily boozy. Medium body, average to lively carbonation, sweet finish with loads of warming alcohol. Way to sweet / boozy. 261019
3.3 Tap (TCBW2018) (7:4:6:3:13=3.3) My notes evaporated, Anna's notes say: Dark head atop black liquid. This was fairly roasted and was quite subdued on the coffee front - which is a good thing. A bit sweet, though the sweetness didn't overshadow the roast and did cover the alcohol pretty well. Slightly flat palate. OK overall.
3.6 Bottle. 12.0%. No best before date. Pours a dark brown, with a tan head. Good lacing. Roasted aroma, with dark-ish fruit, grass, dust, light coffee, hint of bread. Flavour is roasted, with (dark) fruit, alcohol burn, a bit dusty. Bitter finish, dry and a bit tart, with liquorice, dark chocolate, fruit, coffee, and an alcohol burn. Overall good, if a bit too tart, fruity; the high alcohol content seems to save it, I think. 03.08.19.
3.6 Botella. Pitch black colour, nice medium steady creamy light brown head. Sweet pleasant dark fruity roasty malty aroma. good palate. Sweet very roasty flavour with dark fruits and light smoke, alco notes, good bitterness. Good grew but bit unbalanced. Overall the 12% alc. is too present.

4.1 Draught at Brewdog Tallinn Black coloured with a medium sized beige head. Roasted aroma of caramel chocolate and dried fruits with notes of alcohol. Sweet and roasted flavour of caramel and chocolate with notes of whisky. Roasted finish.
3.6 Keg tap at BrewDog Leicester. Dark brown and only a bit translucent. Flat with almost no head. S'mores, coffee grounds, maple syrup and pure molasses in the aroma. Taste does not measue up with a vegetal note among the boozy sweetness. Full body but the lack of carbonation leaves it without body. One of the less impressive of the AB series but still a good beer.
3.8 375ml bottle from Vinmonopolet Langnes. A patchy fawn-coloured head over a coal black body. Crocheted lacing down the glass. Roasted dark malty nose, hints of coffee and chocolate. Initial smooth chocolate taste followed by moments of syrup, molasses, and a backdrop of dried fruits. Roasted, warming, bitter ending, long-lived. Full bodied.Decent evening sipper. (Tromsø 30.05.2019).
4.3 Bottle - 375ml. Opaque black body with a thin, lasting, beige creamy head. Rich malty aroma with brown sugar, coffeeish, woody, and plummy hints. Alcohol is perfectly hidden. Its robust, rich, well balanced malty taste carries liquorice, woody, roasted coffee, and brown sugar notes. Ends with a long, warming, sweet/roasty finish. Awesome!
