3.7 Tap at Brewdog Nottingham. Pours dark brown with tan lace top. Aroma is vanilla and caramelized malt. Taste is medium sweet to bitter with coffee notes. Palate is medium bodied, oily texture, average carbonation, bitter finish. A very solid porter, even if the vanilla falters.
3.6 Can fanzine. Decent but not intense enough for my liking. A little vanilla. It’s good. Never had the original but a sound resurrection.
3.8 330ml nitro can from Fanzine issue 5. Poured as directed, very dark brown with a big tan head, great retention. Aroma of strong roast malts, dark fruits, vanilla. Taste is roasty, dark fruits, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, tangy fruity finish. Medium bodied, very smooth.
3.7 Creamy beige head stayed impeccably on a jet black still body. Big malty aroma with bitter coffee, bitter chocolate, & dark fruits. Initial roasted tastes of burnt cigarette, coal & ashes followed quickly by a mellow creamy taste of lactose, milk chocolate & then a tangy, bitter citrus finish.
4.1 Can from Fanzine #5. Classic Black and Tan with a luxurious, foamy head. Wafer and chocolate aroma not unlike Kit Kat. Light, Biscuity with chocolate and berry sweetness.
3.9 330ml nitro can from Brewdog Fanzine. Huge tan head, good lacing. Dark black body. Creamy vanilla nose, roasted nuts. Flavour is roast nuts, coffee, vanilla, chocolate. Light carbonation, silky smooth mouthfeel. Works beautifully with the nitro.
3.9 Nitro version, can Fanzine 5. Big coffee and roasted malt aroma, with the exuberant creamy head, nitro style, It's smooth, coffee laden, roasty, smooth and kicks the ass off commercial porters. Goddamn delicious to be honest.
3.5 Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer.
3.8 Pours cola brown with a small white carbonation that disappears. Aroma is vanilla, roasted malts and light dark chocolate. Taste is much the same, vanilla bonds well with the malts. Very nice.
3.6 10/5/2011 12:45:39 AM On tap at Beer Temple. Dark brown body with tall tan had. Nose of caramel and plenty of vanilla. Really nice taste of coffee, caramel and again a smooth, sweet vanilla. Quite bitter in the finish. Oily texture. A nice porter all around.
3.6 Bottle - Black colour, medium sized light brown head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of roasted coffee, cocoa, a touch of vanilla, some red berries. Taste is roasty, some chocolate, burnt sugar, some connamon, dried fruits, a bit astringent finish. Medium body and carbonation, sticky texture. Nice porter, but the roasted aroma is a bit too harsh for me.
3.5 Reasonably restrained aroma in a black pour. Taste is the same - reasonable. A nice brew and one I’d be happy having another of (for sure).
2.7 Negra opaca. 3 dedos de espuma muy cremosa y duradera. Aroma escaso, ahumado y a chocolate. En boca predomina un agrio lacteo que desmerece el conjunto, que es amargo y con sabor a chocolate. Cuerpo medio y carbonatacion media alta. Final seco. De lo peor de una gran cervecera.
3.8 Dark with small head. Burnt with hints of nuts and lots of vanilla. Hoppy and freshing.
3.8 Bottle at home. Faint smokey smell and a mild sweet taste. Caramel. Dark cherry. Dark chocolate. Cinnamon. Enjoyable.
3.9 33cl Bottle @ 32GreatPower, Seville, Spain. Black colour with a thin tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla. Taste follows the aroma. Medium body, average carbonation.
3.6 Draught. Pitch black with a lasting coffee brown head. Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, hint of spice. Taste is chocolate, coffee, liquorice, spice. Very nice, medium carbonation, sticky texture.
3.8 On tap at Alltech fest. Appearance: jet black, tiny brown head. Aroma : chocolate and spices, pepper, a hint of leather. Flavour: chocolate and raisins, hoppy too with a tremendous pepper hop finish. Lovely
3.0 Old notes. Just numeral ratings and few words during conversation. Sweet and roasted. Not my thing.
3.8 Tasting @ brewdog ellon. Body is nearly black no head. Nose is roasty aroma is coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla, great balance. Light sweet heavy roasty bitter, slightly watery. Medium body thin texture no carbonation. Easy simple delicious dessert beer.
3.8 Aroma is caramel, roasty smoked malts, raisins, vanilla and coffee. Taste is rich sweet malts, caramel amd toffee.... Transitions to a well balanced hop body. Appearance is black with a medium pearl head that retains fairly poorly.
3.7 Bottle from Brewdog, Nottingham. Brown in colour with off white, near tan head. Coffee on the nose, and a load of liquorice. On the taste, Coffee, licquorice, coffee, roasted malts, dark fruits.
3.5 Bottle, 330 ml at Pivkan, Zagreb. Pours dark brown with beige head. Sweet, roasted malty aroma. Roasted malts, chocolate, liquorice, dark fruit flavor.
4.4 Bottle at BrewDog Camden. Poured a thick, syrupy black, with a dense beige head. Powerful aroma of liquorice, vanilla pods, dark roast coffee and peat. Dark rum and port in the flavour, with big molasses and roast malt. Bitter burnt lingering finish, with mouth warming booze soaked dark fruit, cocoa and ash. Yum.
4.2 Marrom, opaca.
3.8 Bottle at home. Pours black, nose is light vanilla, chocolate, taste is roasty chocolate, light vanilla.
3.0 (Bottle). Aroma of roasted malt with a slightly sour tone. Tastes roasted malt and some caramel. The finish is a little burnt and dry. Drinkable Porter but it does not impress, rather, a little dull.
3.4 Bottle. This is a nice beer, but you’re better off going for one of their stouts if you’re forced to choose.
