BrewDog Black Eyed King Imp Vietnamese Coffee Edition (Can)

BrewDog Black Eyed King Imp Vietnamese Coffee Edition (Can)

Black Eyed King Imp returns in this Vietnamese coffee edition of an epic barrel-aged imperial stout.

Oh. And this is the world’s strongest ever canned ale.

At 12.7% ABV, Black Eyed King Imp is a super intense and twistedly complex brew, with intense notes of sweet vanilla, rich espresso, smooth molasses and bitter chocolate barely contained by the metal wrapped around it. We’ve ransacked the barrel store to blend some of our favourite aromas and flavour infusions into this massive monster of a beery beast!

3.8 Burk brewdogs webshop. Kolsvart vätska. Doft av rostad malt, bränt socker och kanel. Len smak av mjölkchoklad och lite vanilj. Lätt rostad munkänsla med mjölkig och sockrigt kaffe-känsla

4.2 High aroma of coffee, roasted barley, caramel, something smoked. Dark, opaque, almost without head. Coffee, caramel, roasted barley in flavor. Full body, light carbonation.
4.2 Really dark brown color with a bit of mocha head. Aroma has some smoky whiskey notes, roasted malts, sweet coffee and spicy notes. Taste has whiskey spice, some roasty coffee bitterness and really dark chocolate. Medium body with medium to low carbonation. Quite balanced, not too boozy for its ABV.
4.0 33 cl can @ home. Pours black with a tan head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma and flavour are roasted malt, bitter coffee, cocoa, liquorice, whisky, and chocolate - with a slightly bitter finish.
3.9 Cam. Ebony body with no head. Nose is chocolate, roasted malt, rich vinous fruits, background citric hops, vanilla, coffee, honey, Marmite and bubblegum. Bittersweet with some sourness. Dry finish. Full bodied.
4.5 330ml can. Pours pitch black. Coffee, vanilla, toast, cocoa powder, plums, figs, blackcurrant. Good balance of sweet, bitter and boozy heat. Absolutely fantastic.
4.4 Pours black with a very nice sheen of espresso-like head. Looks perfect. Aroma is complex and with a lot of dark malts. A lot of strong coffee, vanilla, spices in general, caramel, plums, figs, amarena cherries, chili, quite some oak. Beautiful and complex. Big body. Smooth and oily mouthfeel. Flavours are also rich and equally complex. Rich but only medium sweet, a lot of intense coffee, vanilla, bourbon and spices once more, chocolate, cherries, plums, a lot of toffee, tad of a bitter amaretto note. Very good Imperial stout. Finishes long and warming, with coffee and chocolate notes. Really amazing beer.
3.9 Can courtesy of Jacob. Black pour with a creamy mocha head. Roasty fine coffee nose with plenty of dried berries & minerals. Roasted malts, chocolate & raisins. Sweet, bitter, malty & roasty taste. Light smoke & high mineralty. Soft, velvety, round & astringent mouthfeel. Nice beer! Nice coffee character.
4.2 330ml Can from Brewdog.com (£9.50): Excellent stuff from Brewdog & definitely one of their better beers, this one seemed to hold up well in the year plus since I bought the can. Opening with plenty of coffee, chocolate & vanilla flavours & some nice roasted malts too, this one was a complex but very well-balanced beer that went down quite easily considering the strength. It's rich but softly carbonated with some darker fruits near the end although things did fade a touch nearer the end too but I guess that's understandable given how long I took enjoying it; it was a great beer throughout.
4.3 Rich brown head black pour mild carbonation aromas dark fruit coffee nice entrance so far dried fruit chocolate wow molasses caramel berries flavors chocolate coffee as I hoped black berries dried fruit plums cocoa flavours are classy coffee right on the ball the bitter chocolate balances off nicely with all the sweetness all round there is crispness and richness a cracking Imperial Stout
4.2 0.33 l can from 'Holy Craft Beer Store', best before October 2020. Jet black with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, dark beige layer. Sweetish, malty, moderately roasty aroma of mocca, praline, hazelnut, vanilla and some bourbon. Very sweet, malty, moderately roasty taste of praline, mocca, hazelnut, vanilla, some licorice and a fair amount of bourbon, followed by a long, moderately roasty-bitter, slightly earthy finish with lots of bourbon. Medium to full body, smooth, creamy to oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Incredibly tasty, fantastic balance, rather easily drinkable for that abv as well as the style and fairly complex at the same time. The price for the can is a joke though.
4.2 Appearance: Very dark brown, nearly black. Very dark tan head, nice amount of it. Aroma: Coffee, roasted, very dark malt. Taste: Strong coffee, roasted, very dark malt, burnt. Warming. Dark chocolate, slight barrel, light sweetness. Very nice, though a tad expensive! Bought: Beers of Europe, 330 ml can, £9.49 Info: 17/9-2017, BB: 8/10-2020
4.6 Rzadko sie zdarza ze mam aż taką ochotę na RISa jak dzisiaj więc poszedłem do piwniczki by sobie go wyciągnąć. Zapach to kawa, kawa zbożowa nuty beczki, słodki i pralinowy. Smak to pralinki z mlecznej czekolady z nadzieniem kawowo waniliowym. Potężna słodycz piwo zdecydowanie #teamsłodyczka wysycenie troszkę za duże. Jeden z najlepszych RISów jakie piłem
3.9 330ml can. Pours black, small tan head as rong Aroma is sweet, roasty, coffee, vanilla. Taste of sweet roast, coffee, chocolate, nuts. Vanilla in aftertaste. Very well balanced taste. Amazingly well covered alcohol, no hint of 12,7%, when drinking beer on room temp. Full bodied, smooth carbo. Easy to drink and very enjoyable, really good imp stout. But cmon, it's still overpriced, that's why I'm not giving higher rating.
4.3 Can at Brewdog Oslo (or whatever it’s called) - Pours a thick, dark black oil. Lots of bourbon, oak, coffee, and chocolate w/ some vanilla in the nose. Taste is chocolate and coffee fighting each other with bourbon in the middle. Sweet. It’s big and boozy but strangely enjoyable. I drank the whole can and enjoyed it.
4.6 Pours crude oil thick - 'glugs' out of the can. Beige head not so thick disappears quick. Aroma is strong coffee, bourbon, the booze is biggest on the nose for me. Taste is delightful, obvious espresso, chocolate and bourbon barrel aging. Umami soy and vanilla lingers late on the palette. This is so very similar to the tenfidy barrel-aged which isn't a bad thing they're both world class stouts. Definitely let this warm out of the fridge for a bit for maximum flavor
4.8 Pitch black coloured ale with a tan coloured head. Aroma: chocolate, coffee, roasted malt and some hints of smoke. Taste: roasted malt, sweetness, caramel, coffee, vanilla, hint of smoke and some alcohol. Creamy full mouthfeel with average to low carbonation. Doesn’t end that bitter but you do get some alcohol warmth going down the throat.
4.4 Can. Pours densely, jet black colour, nice dark beige head. Aroma: wow, a lot of pralines, dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla and nuts. There is also a lot of smaller notes like marzipan, choclate liqueur or hint of roast barley. Taste is sweet. There is lot of vanilla, coffee and dark chocolate. After that comes a little bit sour notes which are common with coffee. Bitternes rather in dark choclate way than hoppy. A little bit alcoholic finish. Overall beer is full, smooth and creamy. Well done!
4.8 0,33 l. Can. Dark color with beige head. Coffee, vanilla and dark fruit aroma. Dark chocolate, fruit, sweet, coffee and bitterness taste.
5.0 Aroma: Rich, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, Medium-light licorice, floral, cherries. Appearance: Black, opaque body, Small, brown head, very fine bubbles, low retention. Flavour: Medium-high tobacco, dark chocolate, Medium bitterness, cherries, caramel. Medium dry finish with lingering floral, cherries, chocolate. Mouthfeel: Full bodied, medium alcoholic heat, Medium-low carbonation. Smooth Overall: Wow, a rich, powerful experience. 330 ml can, poured.

4.3 Can at BrewDog Brussels. Opaque black with brown head, oily. The aroma has notes of milk chocolate, mocha, vanilla, wood, coffee, roast, nuts and alcohol. Sweetish and bitterish flavor with notes of mocha, milk chocolate, vanilla, wood, oily, cognac and nuts, alcoholic. Slightly dry, full-bodied.
4.2 2K rating! Can at BrewDog Brussels. Pours opaque black with a small beige head. Splendid aroma of coffee, chocolate, burnt grains, licorice, vanilla, nuts, smoke, molasses. Sweet, roasted, chocolate, espresso, cocoa, oak, dark bread, vanilla, brown sugar, warming with bitter finish. Full-bodied, super smooth, low carbonation. Wonderful.
4.2 Aroma - intense, with lot of cold coffee, burnt coffee beans, black chocolate, black fruit’s jam with alcohol. Taste - very intense and rich, with lot of alcohol, well combined with cold, roasted and a bit burnt coffee, black chocolate, a bit of burnt malt and wood, pleasant sweetened with black and wild fruits; in the final, a pleasant and mild burnt bitterness, slightly peppery. Very good!
3.8 A: Pitch black with a brown head N: Coffee, oak, ash, tar T: Ash, coffee, fruity O: A bit too heavy on the smoke for my taste, but good.
4.4 Can: Aroma is black coffee with cacao beans, cacao powder, roastiness, vanilla, toffee. Almost black color, nearly no, brownish head. Flavor is rich sugared coffee, coffee and cacao beans, cacao powder, vanilla, roasted malt, alcohol. Rich tasty coffee with great coffee notes.
4.5 Vöröses árnyalatú fekete szín, semmi hab. Fenomenális, kávés, csokis, kakaós illatfelhő, aszalt gyümölcsös, konyakos felhangokkal. Kissé édeskés csokilikőrös, kakaós, kávés, pörkölt malátás ízvilág, aszalt gyümölcsös aromákkal, hosszú, kakaóporos, alkoholos lecsengéssel. Nehéz, szinte jól lakik vele az ember, közepesen szénsavas, erősen keserű, amit jól ellenpontoznak a süteménybe illő ízkomponensek. Lenyűgöző sör, kiváló arányokkal és egyensúllyal.
