BrewDog Bourbon Baby

BrewDog Bourbon Baby

Bottled; Special.

Bourbon Baby is a baby Scotch ale which we’ve gone on to age in bourbon barrels. The Scotch ale base is light bodied and low ABV, and brings toasted shortcake and blossom honey flavours; the barrel ageing adds a demonic, dark vanilla twist. Rich brown sugar, hints of smoke, spiced fruit, chocolate and raisins are just some of the multitude of flavours that have developed.

Our aim was to showcase barrel ageing in a lower ABV beer and we felt the malty scotch ale base was the perfect way to do this. The body remains light, yet there is a complexity quite unlike anything you would normally expect in a Scotch ale.

3.5 Two thirds of a pint at Brew Dog in Edinburgh. Very dark. Served cold. Off white head.
4.0 Dark malt forward but extremely sweet. Lots of vanilla flavors. Tastes A lot like a bourbon as the name would suggest.
3.0 330ml bottle. Pours dark and cola like. Aroma is smoke, oak and bourbon. Taste has plenty of vanilla, bourbon, raisins and oak. It’s a bit powerful and overbearing considering it’s a "baby".
3.2 Vanilja, makeus, vähän liian kevyt runko, mutta hienostunut makumaailma. Nautinnollinen.
3.7 Bottle Aroma-bourbon Appearance-brown, clear, tan foam, Taste-light sweetness, lightly bitter, lightly sour, Palate-medium body, slick feel, average carbonation, long finish, Overall-very good
3.7 W nosie bardzo fajnie, wanilia, kokos, czekolada i wiśnia. Barwa brunatna z brązowymi refleksami, piana beżowa, niska o drobnych ziarnach. W smaku zaskakująco lekkie i wodniste, kawa zbożowa, brązowy cukier, czekolada, wiśnia, trochę brakuje ciała. Goryczka niska, lekko piekąca i alkoholowa. Kran w Brewdog Warszawa.
3.5 Bottle, 5.9%. Dark, dark red with a short-lived tan head. Aromas of red fruit, wood and leather. Lightish body, semi-sweet with more fruit, vanilla, caramel and a bit of chocolate. Carbonation seems a bit high; well, unusual for a beer with these flavours at least.
3.5 Dark Red Brown color with a White foamy head the aroma is light malted with a classic carmel Bourbon twist. The taste itself is very dominated by this Bourbon. Overall a fine beer for the Winter Evening
3.9 Tap at brewdog Warschau. Pours black, small grey head. Smell is intense bourbon. Taste is intense, grainy bourbon. Ok body, ok carbo. It’s on the Border of to much, but still very Nice. Rather sweet. Intense for the abv
3.0 Pours dark Ruby with good beige head. Aroma of malt and oak, sweet with vanilla and hint of dark red fruit. Smells like Innis and Gunn. Medium carbonation but light mouth feel. Taste is primarily oak with fig or prunes. Finish is dry with vanilla and little bitterness
4.0 Rami Rami is drinking a Bourbon Baby by BrewDog at BrewDog Warszawadrewno kawa burbon faktycznie gladziutkie, alko to niefajne schowane, Duzo kokosa. polslodkawy ciut karmelowo-rodzynkowo. Malo intensywny Ocena potraktowana skryptem do przeliczania ocen (uzgodnienie UT/RB).
3.0 330ml bottle from Brewdog’s online gift shop. Pours clear ruby, medium off-white head. Aroma is cocoa, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, almonds. Taste is rather light, watery with chocolate and sweet bourbon emerging playfully on the finish. Seems lacking and rather thin. I get the concept, and I do like the bourbon & chocolate present, but it just finishes a bit thin and dry.
3.3 Ruby colored beer, with some caramel and bourbon aromas. Taste is sweet and balanced. A nice little drink for the evening but nothing that stands out.
2.9 330ml bottle from Brewdog shop. Thin tan head, nice lacing. Clear dark brown body. Big bourbon nose, vanilla, oak, charcoal. Flavour is oak, vanilla, a little bourbon round the edges. There's a smoky sweetness in there somewhere, hints of honey. Woody aftertaste, a little bourbon. Mouthfeel is quite thin, light carbonation. Not sure the barrel ageing really works here, seems a bit of a mish mash.
3.3 Batch 160357, 5,9% ABV, best before 05/06/17, aperta il 30/06/16.
3.9 Bottle @ home Clear brown with ruby highlights, brown head Cognac, barrell of whisky, mature red juicy fruit, cherries, bourbon, vanilla, cream, milk powder, amarena Bourbon, toffee, vanilla cream, wood at the beginning
3.9 Bottle from formartines. Pours a clear ruby with a thick off white head that lasts. Aromas of bourbon, cherries, vanilla and slight wood smoke. Flavour is dried forest fruits, mild whisky touches, earthy and delicious.
3.3 Mazais bubonigais. viegls visas manjaas- smarza, aromata un garsa. bet nu ja taida burbonigo tad lkm jataisa kartigs. mazliet garso kaa maksligs burbons
3.4 330ml bottle into tulip. Mahogany red beer with large tan head. Sweet spice woody nose. Bourbon, wood and vanilla also. Light body leads to a spirituous finish. Starts strong but ends with you wishing for more bourbon (or more ale). A one night stand but an unhappy marriage.
3.6 Bottle at home in London - sourced from Kris Wines. Original batch, so this is a couple years old I think. Opens with a gush, but a mild gush so I didn’t lose too much. The beer pours rich brown with a fizzy beige head. Pleasant aroma, with notes of toasted caramel, brown bread, vanilla, dried dark fruits. Medium sweet flavour with mellow earthy bitterness, some leathery berries, dates, faint cocoa, toffee, creamy vanilla. Medium bodied with fizzy, massaging carbonation. Finishes sweet with more malty character, a little alcohol warmth, well toasted bread, caramel and toffee, figs and dates. Pretty tasty stuff overall; although, the over-carbonation is a bit distracting.
3.7 330ml bottle. Pours a hazy deep ruby, nearly black, with a medium beige head, which lasts well and leaves very good lacing. The aroma offers smoky, meaty charcuterie notes with bourbon, seaweed and chocolate hints. Mild herbal and citrus hops up front give way to bittersweet dark chocolate, bourbon and light meaty notes in the mid-palate. The finish is lightly sweet, with elevating bourbon notes. A nice example of a fairly savoury scotch ale.
3.3 Bottle. Dark chestnut, offwhite lace. Light seaweed, oaked malt milkshake note. Medium light body, lightly oxidized malt, vanilla and cigars, slim in the finish, light iodine, pleasant barrel aftertaste.
3.5 (bottle) clear deep ruby colour with a frothy beige head. aroma of caramel, vanilla and fish soup, with a touch of dill, milk chocolate and yeast slurry. flavour is mostly brown sugar and caramel, with more vanilla, some coconut milk and roasted malts in the slightly ethanolic finish. medium-bodied with soft carbonation.
3.0 Very dark amber with no head. Aroma is caramel, nuts, malt, some vanilla. Taste is very sour. Aggressively carbonated. Overall still ok.
3.6 Clear dark brown with a medium beige head. Aroma is caramel, bourbon and oak. Taste is caramel, bourbon and nuts.
4.4 Nutty sirup, cocoa sweet aroma. Brown with a medium tanned head. Medium sweet taste with some burned notes. Light body & average carbonation.
