BrewDog Dog D

BrewDog Dog D

Dog D is an extra special brew, marking 8 years of BrewDog. Like Dog A, B & C before it, Dog D is an imperial stout with speciality ingredients, only this time we’ve aged Dog D in bourbon barrels.

Dog D pours like dark matter into your glass, with a deep tan head. The nose is subtle but powerful, and on the palate, there’s a treacle toffee backbone, supporting the spicy hop flavour and naga chilli heat.

Dog D is like eating chocolate ice cream and drinking cognac in a leather armchair. It’s also perfect for cellaring, or for a vertical tasting with Dog A, B & C.

3.9 Bottle shared with Višnja 666 and Pilot Goran at a Mega Tasting, October 12th 2017. Huge thanks! Dark brown with a caramel colour tint. Roasty, woody, some alcohol. Sweet and rich. Full body, soft carbonation, moderate finish. It was a great one, I don't have many notes, unfortunately.
4.5 Extreme cocoa chocolate, barrel, vanilla and coconut. Pitch black color with minimal sized brown head. Cocoa, bitter chocolate, roasted malt, heavy warming, partially from alcohol probably, but nice chili peppers too. Medium to full body, flat, creamy. Finish is best about it, liquid chili chocolate at its finest. //bottle as Brewdog Dog E

Opadła ona do milimetrowej otoczki. Zero zacieków na szkle. Zapach: Aromat jest umiarkowany. Nie jest jakiś szczególnie kosmiczny. Czuć duże ilości słodów, czystego kakao i gęstej 100%-wej czekolady. Następne niuchy wyłapują kapkę ciemnych owoców, trochę dymu z ogniska i w zasadzie tyle. To jedna z największych zalet DOG D. Degustacyjny trunek, jednak dość przewidywalny.
4.2 Keg, Brewdog Leicester. Near black with a beige head. Aromas are coffee with peppery, marzipan alcohol and dark winter fruit. Brandy infused christmas pudding with soy sauce and raisins. Hints of smoked meat. Flavours are sweet raisins and blackberries with bittersweet coffee and dark chocolate. Very peppery, warming alcohol with hot spiciness. Underlying dark toffee with whisky barrel. Plenty of umami. Excellent.
4.2 The best chili beer I have ever tasted. Not too strong chili flavor. A good balanced aroma that is complemented by chocolate. Needs the right serving temperature.of course.
4.2 33cl Bottle @ Bodecall, Malaga, Spain. Black colour with a thin tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, sweet, licorice, alcohol. Taste is roasted malt, caramel, coffee, chocolate, toffee, chili, alcohol. Full body, soft carbonation.
4.2 0,33l bottle at home from trade with Sebilinz, big thanks. BB 27.05.2027. Bottles comes in a cardboard box. black color, rather small coffee colored head. smells licorice, earthy, wood, whisky, light booze, ripe fruits, marzipan, nutty, light cinnamon, cookie dough. very nice smell. full body, very very light carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of cinnamon, licorice, cocoa, whisky, bourbon, nutty, marzipan, light hazelnuts, spices, some sweetness, lightly pepper. finishes light to medium sweet with notes of whisky, cinnamon and some nutty notes. very nice one, rather heavy body but for that quite good to drink. nice complexity, alcohol well hidden. great sipper.
4.0 Bottle from beershop.gr. Tasted as BrewDog Dog D. Dark brown/black color, minimal brown head. Aromas of coffee, brownies, chili, licorice, molasses and slight fudge. Taste of salt licorice, chili, chocolate, alcohol and soy. Seems the older the better with the BrewDog Dog (X) series. A>D>F.
3.8 As Dog E. Bottle, 13C. Black with a coat of tan head that's soon at the rim. No overt booze but plenty of chocolate in the aroma. Some spices, oak, a little fruity rather than spicy chile. 8+ A sip winds that back: chile heat and hot (but to be fair, not raw) booze register straight away. Can still tell the chocolate is very nice though. Some oranges and ordinary pepper also surprisingly come through the somewhat excessive chile. Enjoyable and indeed 330ml is not wearing out its welcome. Pretty good, very strong indeed for what it offers. Brewing competence > tasteful offering.
4.3 330ml bottle, Dog D. Pours pitch black. Coconut, vanilla, chocolate, peppery chilli heat, toffee, leather, tobacco, plum. Thick and smooth. More complex than its predecessor with perhaps a little less balance. Still an absolute delight.
3.8 18/20 Dog E Imperial stout is exceptional with the warm chillies giving it an X factor. Wouldn’t have wanted it any spicier. Does not taste like 16%.
4.0 26.09.2015, tap @ Borefts: Tiny light brown shortlasting head. Aroma is mild and slightly sweet, dark malts, licorice, grass, alcohol, dark sugar, minerals, caramel. Taste is slightly rich and sweet, dark sugar, dark malts, caramel, licorice, chocolate, mild grassy chillies, minerals, alcohol, grass, weeds. Medium bitterness, slightly dry and syrupy mouthfeel, very mild warming chili touch. Nice.
4.1 Bottle at BeerMa. Pours a pitch black color with a small beige head. A huge roast licorice nose. Pepper, chocolate, vanilla, dark fruit. Big brown sugar. Awesome.
