BrewDog Dogma

BrewDog Dogma

Brewed with ten different types of malt, and blended together with Scottish heather honey, it is a pantheon to the gods of intricacy and nuance; a beer that celebrates a confluence of ideas. History is written by the victors, and Dogma is Scotch Ale triumphant; evolved.

Complex, indulgent and encapsulating, Dogma gives more than a cursory nod to history, to make you ponder the very nature of beer itself.

2.3 Can at home which came part of the fanzine boxset. The beer poured like a English bitter. It was very honey flavour sweet, spicy and a little hoppy. Not sure I want this again
3.1 Can@home, from Alko Kuninkaankulma, Tampere, Finland. Medium/strong, averagely balanced nuances of amber, bitterish darker malts, some honey and nuts. Medium taste spectrum and medium/long aftertaste with bitter, bready notes. Medium body with medium, soft carbonation. Overall, slightly too bitter for the style.
3.6 On tap at Dom's Mikkeli. Pours golden color. Aroma of malts, dried fruits, honey, caramel. Low bitterness, quite intense and dry taste. Not very sweet.
3.6 Draught @ Fox & Hounds, Sønderborg. Pours hazy orange amber with stable off-white head. Clear aroma of malt, with notes of yeast and bready touches. Bitter flavour of hops and alcohol, with seeetish notes of malt abd yeast and touches of bread and caramel. Bitter, hoppy aftertaste with malty and estery notes and acidic hints. Warming alcohol presence. A decent and well-balanced wee heavy.
3.6 7,8 % Vol. AR: Malz, Honig, blumig AP: klares bernstein TA: Malz, Wermut, Honig
3.1 Huge thanks to Erzengel for sharing! Beer in the glass zippy, small head. Starts mild, malty, modest dry. Some dusty metallical notes. Shy hoppy-fruity background. Okay.
3.8 Lovely amber color, medium sized beige head. Aromas of honey, malt, caramel, alcohol and candi sugar. Bittersweet taste with honey, alcohol, malt, caramel and resin.
3.2 330ml can from Hop Hub. Clear amber with a creamy off white head. Sweet malty aroma, flavour is buttery caramel with a burnt finish. Ok
3.0 What is not to love. Whisky laced carmel tasting dark lager that is a fantastic beer. Not quite sensational
3.4 Can with 7.8%. Floral fresh nose. The beer starts fruity with hints of grain in the back. Floral sweetish honey with nice herbs in the back. The heather honey is there, herbal dark with a grainy beer in mix. Moderate bitterness in the end, a bit too grainy in my eyes.
3.2 Aroma: home brew crystal malt giving way to light passion fruit & pepper App: red amber, light tan head Flavour: peppery, sweet, some chocolate & herbal Palate: medium body and finishes bitter
3.7 Bottle. Dark red - brown with a beige head. Aroma of dark malts, molasses, caramel, bread. Moderate malty sweetness, roasted, caramel, toasted bread, toffee, nuts, chocolate, espresso, bitter finish, really balanced. Medium bodied, smooth. Very nice.
4.6 Une scotch remarquable. Arômes liquoreux, prune, cassonade. Bouche onctueuse, riche, prune, miel. Quelle formidable réussite!
3.6 Robe noire, légèrement rouge à la lumière. Mousse peu durable.
4.3 330ml bottle. Rich malts hints of sweet honey and mild thickness. Medium body with the same flavours in the nose.
3.3 Sample from tap at Brewdog Brussels. Pours dark brown colour. Moderate beige head. Smoke, bacon and caramel in the aroma. Bit smoky, caramelly, sweet, slightly bitter taste. Sweet and caramelly, bitter, slightly smoky aftertaste. Medium bodied, descent brew. Maybe too sweet for me.
4.0 (noire, nez > sucre brun perlé, > réglisse, fumé, onctueuse, > fumée, > maltée, du corps, ~choco, all très bien faite)
3.9 Bottle from Bottlebox. Black and Tan with a thick bubbly head. Malty, bready aroma with chocolate and raisins. Very sweet, prunes and stone fruit, tamarind and molasses. Fanzine rebrew, Jan 2020 - clear reddish amber with a large off white head. Aroma sweet and bready. Thick, oily mouthfeel, sweet stone fruit and honey. Not sure what I was drinking last time but it wasn’t this?!
3.9 Keg, BD Soho. Pours deep oily brown, lacy tan head. Huge malt aroma with hints of chocolate and fired oak barrels. Big dense mouthfilling texture. Sweet malt and smoked meat taste. Not sure why it's taken so long for me to have this new version. Just as good as the original.
3.8 Keg at BrewDog Leicester. Dark brown/black with small creamy tan head. Slightly smoky malt with golden syrup the faintest touch of whisky. Man, the taste is sweet. Buttered pancakes with a bit of coffee, syrup and chocolate malt. Earthy malt and a sour tinge in the aftertaste. A great Scotch ale.
3.9 flasa z onlineshopu vdaka Petovi. vona jemne dymova kakaova tazka. farba kavy. chut jemne dymova, kakaova na konci do sladka.
3.8 At brewdog Brussels. Pours black. Aroma is toasted malts, booze, sugar syrup. Body is heavy, quite sweet and boozy, yet not as strong as other Scotch ales. Good acidity, far tamer through that. Still dominant flavours. Great to drink!
3.9 Keg at BrewDog Bristol. Very dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma and taste are malt-heavy, dark fruits, caramel, treacle, a little honey, roast, chocolate, very rich, quite sweet but not cloying. Medium-full bodied, smooth, low carbonation. Very nice.
3.2 14/20 smoky liquorice complex taste, nice body and abv, very malty but i liked it
3.7 Bottle from BrewDog online Relatively empty on nose. There's no chance to note all the malts and if there are really ten then it goes surprisingly smooth. Tastes light smoked, roasted malts, still smooth. Good.
3.8 Tap at the Brew Dog Nottingham. Pours black body tan foam top. Aroma richly roasted malts dark fruits, coffee and chocolate cake. Taste is medium sweet to bitter. Palate is medium to full bodied, sticky texture, soft to average carbonation, and a long finish. A Scotch ale worthy of the title. 24 May 2020 a different beast from the can. pours copper bodied with white lace. I must have confused my dogmas. Aroma is a blend of grainy malts with bread and light caramel in the mix; too intricate and nuanced for my hay fevered nose. Taste is not as sweet as a honeyed beer might imply, but medium bitter up front, honey centred and then bitter finished. Palate is medium, smooth soft carbonation and a bitter finish. As the Scots say: this'll do me.
3.9 Bottle from Brewdog shop. Pours dark red-brown colour with small tan head, aroma of roasted malt, caramel, berries. Taste of roasted malt, bit of coffee, medium bitterness and sweetness, crisp finish.
3.7 Black beer, thick brown head. Dry, bitter malt smell. Taste is toasty malt, dried fruit, honey, coffee. It's creamy but with a hint of fizz on the tongue. I thought it'd pack a bit more punch but it's actually pretty mellow. Rich and tasty all the same.
3.4 Creamy beige head stayed on a jet black still body. Malt, demerara & berry aroma. Medium to full bodied, creamy in the mouth and a tingly finish. Malty tastes with fruity berry, grape, sour stone fruit & citrus hints.
3.8 Keg at Doghouse Glasgow. Black body with a light beige head. Malty with dark fruits, sweet but with a lingering bitterness to balance it out. Quite decadent.
