BrewDog Double Punk

BrewDog Double Punk

POST MODERN CLASSIC REIMAGINED

The UK’s favourite craft beer – the beer that started it all – gets ramped up to 8.2% for a relentlessly hoppy onslaught that balances a light malt backbone with a citrus-forward and super pithy delivery. Expect plenty of bitterness from the heavy-handed hopping, and a clear golden appearance that invites you in with aromas of grapefruit and zesty fruits.

Double Punk, Double the fun.

Hops: Centennial, Citra, Mosaic Simcoe
Malts: Pale

2.6 Somewhat misty. Light orange colour. Moderate level of head that doesn't last a very long time. Aroma is malt and alcohol. Taste is fairly sweet with more grapefruit than malt, but it's still noticeably alcoholic.
3.7 23Jul2020 Light tropical fruits, dank melon, candied mango, light alcohol, pine. Clear gold, medium, creamy, white head. Light to medium bitter. Pine, resin, citrus fruits, wet straw, soft carbonation, medium bodied. Very nice. Can from BrewDog Canary Wharf.
1.2 Got this in an advent calendar, big thanks to my youngest daughter. Drank this right out of the can, so what about the color? I assume it's a slightly hazy pale brew like stated earlier. I drank a big swig of this and immediately it made my taste buds go numb. Yes, this is balderdash, rude bitter, pretty annoying. So fricken annoying. Big blasting super natural totally bloody meal. So what, its just another bitchen bastard straight up rude ass IPA. There you have it. Viscous and mouth coating finish, as usual.
3.5 1/3 pint, keg at Brewdog Shoreditch, shared with Finn. Hazy golden body, patches on the surface, dotted spots on the glass. Canned fruity aromas, scent of apricot. Solid taste profile of apricot, orange, and a vibe of mid-sweet malts beneath. Dry, with pine needles towards a lingering tail. Well bodied. Pleasing. (London 15.11.2021).
3.0 Can. Color clear orange with medium white head. Aroma malt, fruits, some hops, pine, citrus. Taste sweet, bitter, malt, fruits, citrus, hops.
3.4 Full bodied, smack round the face dipa. Lots of malt and tropical hops with a big bitter finish. Can taste the alcohol in this one. Not subtle or particularly complex, but pretty tasty nonetheless.
3.2 Delt med Rune. Appelsinfarget. Lavt tett skum. Uklar. Aprikosaroma. Smaken som aromaen. Søtlig tørr bitter avslutning.
3.6 On tap. Pours amber with moderate head. Aromas of dank hops, grass, dry pineapple and toasted malts. Flavors of herbal hops, grass, pineapple and biscuity malts. Bitter and dry.
3.5 Pours clear gold with thin soapy white head, strong aroma of mango with hints of peach and pineapple. Sharp herbal bitterness with notes of peach
3.9 Can 44 cl, poured inro a Jopen tasting glass. Pours a clear golden with a small head and an aroma of syrup, grass, oil, papaya, sugar and alcohol. The taste is heavy sweet with a medium body, very soft carbonation and a long lasting bitter finish
3.5 Bit too west coast for me. Burnt citrus bitterness.
3.7 Hazy yellow, white head and lacing. Aroma of hay and meadow. A little butter, suspect that this batch is a bit over the hill. Tropical fruit and bisquit. Short aftertaste, citrus and lemongrass.
3.2 Can from Morrisons, Sheldon, Birmingham. Finally got around to this one. Pours a clear gold, small white head, nice retention and lacing. Aroma of pine needles, citrus zest, grapefruit, light earthiness. Taste is malty, caramel, citrus zest, pine, quite bitter, strangely tinny and almost syrupy like a super strength budget lager. All DIPAs are good in my book but this is at the lower end of enjoyment.
4.0 Pours murky straw amber with small foamy white head. Aroma is biscuit, caramel sweetness, citrus peel, apricot jam and pine. Medium mouthfeel. Sweet and slightly boozy up front with a dry bitter pine hop resinous finish. Balanced. Nice ripe stone fruit in the middle. Much nicer than regular punk ipa which I rarely drink anymore. Surprised I really like this, sat in my fridge for 2 months but opened it for the Rangers v Celtic game 29/08/21.
4.1 Hoppy, but pleasantly hoppy
2.9 Cloudy orange with a medium sized foamy head. Boozy, fruity and citric. Long finish. Moderately full bodied.
3.4 Im Glas ein helles Amber mit weißem Schaum. In der Nase Pampelmuse, Papaya und Orange. Im Mund Bitterorange, Zitrone und Papaya.
3.5 Canned, 440ml from Tesco in Banbury, Oxon. Hazy gold with white head. There is quite an aggressive resinous, bitter character to this, grapefruit, pithy, zesty then tropical fruit flavours. The body is relatively thinnish, biscuity. Became a little palate stripping through the beer as the bitterness lasts throughout. Still a decent beer though.
3.8 opalescent golden beer with large, though not too stable off-white head; aroma of peach, grapefruit, mango, passion fruit and some biscuity notes; well balanced bittersweet taste with the same notes as can be felt in the aroma and some syrupy, pine resiny and celery-peppery spicy notes; good one
3.7 Bright gold pour. Thin foam. Even lace. Bittersweet flavor of citrus and hops. Bitter pith palate. Easy carbonation
3.5 Grapenuts, lemongrass, soil aroma. Slightly hazy amber, medium head, nice lace. Lilly, lemongrass. Medium body, easy carbonation.
3.9 Can pour, slight haze, bright golden color, off-white head w/small, tight bubbles, no lace. Smells of bread, pine forest, tropical and citrus fruits and spice. Tastes of grapefruit, orange, sweet bread, spice and resin. Big body, smooth mouthfeel, a tad under carbonated and a mellow bitter finish. This is probably one of the better double IPAs I’ve tried. Nice n clean and not too sweet. Watch out for the ABV it will sneak up in you. Super awesome beer!
3.7 Blik gedeeld door Roelzie. Het is een goudgeel bier met een dun wit schuim. Het heeft een hoppige en grapefruit achtige geur. De smaak is hoppig, bitter en harsig.

3.8 Strong grapefruit and orange aroma. Golden color, dense white head. Tastes like grapefruit up front with a sweet honey-like finish. Thick mouthfeel with a bit of carbonation. Very good.
3.5 44 cl. can shared with Dennis @ Dennis and Patries. Hazy dark golden with a white head. Citrus and tropical fruits aroma. Bittersweet taste with a medium bitter finish. Quite alike to the regular Punk IPA but stronger in all aspects.
3.6 Clear golden beer with a huge frothy white head and lots of bubbliness. Smell is citrus and grapefruit with some hay and dust, fresh cheese, hint of vanilla. Big and complex. Taste is big fizz and metallic bitterness evolving into an astringent finish. Missing some body and the astringence overtly dominates the finish.
4.0 Six pack of 12 ouncers canned Jan 2021, 8.5% abv. Clear bronze pour with a half inch sticky foam. Nose of biscuit, lemon, caramel, resin, custard, and pawpaw. Tastes of the same plus a bit of grapefruit pith in the finish. Near-medium bodied with smooth mid-level carbonation and a nice balance.
4.0 440ml Can from Tesco, Gateshead. Bright golden coloured with a huge white head of foam. It has a spicy citrus and tropical fruity flavour with pine and smooth spicy tropical fruit on the warming finish. Excellent!
