BrewDog Hop Fiction American Pale Ale (5.2%)

BrewDog Hop Fiction American Pale Ale (5.2%)

Hop Fiction is an explosively tropical US-style Pale Ale. We’ve rolled up our hop-dusted sleeves and put some advanced brewing techniques to work in our latest seasonal brew.
Devoid of kettle additions, Hop Fiction’s incredible aromas and flavours are down to a combination of early and late hops - bags of soft, rounded citrus and stone fruit layer up on a dry light biscuit backbone.
Hop Fiction, beer fact.

3.2 Keg at their bar in Brighton. Solid beer, moderate piney hops, decent balance.
3.3 330 ml can. Pours unclear pale orange with a medium creamy head. Passion fruit, mango, pineapple, grassy hops, some pine, lemon. Medium fruity bitterness. Light bodied, watery texture, soft carbonated, dry finish. Fruity, refreshing and sessionable APA.
1.9 Had on tap at a brewdog bar. Not very hoppy. Not good sorry was expecting better
5.0 Great Summer Beer! Hoppy flavor, a bit bitter but also fruity. Lo ve to drink it during the hot days

3.6 Can, 330ml. Pours pale clear yellow, with a hint of greenish tint. Thin white head. Aroma of tropical fruits, passion fruits, hops. Well carbonated. Body is on the thin side. Some light bitterness. Light sweetness. Very tasty, lovely aroma and a balanced taste.
4.0 Nice can. Cloudy golden beer with short white head, smell and taste is tropical fruits, you feel not the alcohol, bitter but not too much, short finish, medium body, average carbonation, oily, (I have 0.33l can with best-before 28.05.2018)
4.0 Pours gold with a fading head. Nose shows pineapple, peach, lemon and light clean malt. Flavours include fruity hops, pine, resinous notes, cookie dough-like malt and a pretty aggressive bitterness.
3.5 330 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.2%. Pale golden colour, slightly hazy. Small white head. Strong hoppy aroma, notes of pine, citrus and tropical fruits. Citric but still fairly soft mouthfeel. The flavour has citrussy hops throughout, also some tropical fruits, hints of pine. The bitterness is moderate. Nice to drink.
3.5 Gylden farge med medium høyt hvitt skum. Aroma av sitrus og ananas. Sitrus og tropisk frukt også i smaken. Helt grei.
3.3 Pours yellow with a nice head, aroma of pineapple, guava, flavor is fruity, slightly spicy, peppery, orange, tangerine, onion, medium bodied
3.6 At ohio brewery. Nice citrus aroma light juice notes. Sweet with a thin head. Light medium body.
3.2 Hazy, tropical, and understated. It tastes vaguely like a nondescript tropical fruit juice tempered with a mild citrusy bitterness that seeps in right before the body fades away. An interesting drink but not exactly something I’d bother picking up again. Best experienced after reading Heidegger and wondering what in fuck the lad was on about.
4.0 330 ml can from a local shop. Pours hazy pale yellow with a small, lasting head, some lacing present. Hoppy aroma, mostly melon and resin. Very good, hoppy taste, mostly tropical fruit. Refreshing, light to medium bodied, medium carbonation. Very good beer, very well balanced.
3.8 Can: Hazy yellow color, white head. Aroma is hoppy, fruity, tropical fruits, lychee. Flavor is light malty, hoppy, fruity, lychee, tropical fruits. Nice fruity pale ale.

3.4 Appearance: very Hazy pale golden. thin layer of white foam. Nose: Primarily floral and pine. A hint of honey sweetness. Taste: Hop forward pine needles, a little dank and floral. Good bitters throughout. Slightly sweet. Body: medium to lighter and lively Parting thoughts: A very decent Pale ale.
3.9 Bottle from Wolter's, Grevenmacher, Luxembourg! Pours strong yellow with a solid white head. Aroma has very much tropical fruits. Taste has mango, maracuja, grapefruit and some pine. Finish is bitter, grassy and again very fruity. Excellent pale ale!!
3.6 Excellent pale ale in the usual Brewdog style, with floral and piney hops. Used to get loads of this in cans but then it just disappeared, I guess it was a seasonal or one off? Either way, to me it seemed like a malty, smoother Punk IPA but without the bite that Punk has. Still a great beer, I would buy again.
3.5 Can. Slightly hazy pale orange with white head. Terrific fruity aroma with guava, lychees, honeydew melon, peach, grapefruit, a smidgen of toast. 8+ Pretty light bodied for 5.2% but just avoids being watery. A little toasty and biscuity pale malt sweetness with peach and somewhat subdued touches of the other fruit. Subsides into rather than finishes with moderate bitterness. The first whiff is great but then it’s just OK and I was getting bored by 200ml.
3.5 Can. Clear pale yellow with white head. The aroma has notes of tropical fruits (lychee), pine and some citrus. Bitter flavor with notes of tropical fruits, a bit salty, citrus (grapefruit), piney and grassy. Medium-bodied.
3.4 Draught at the Shepherd’s Bush BD Bar, London. Hazy golden, medium white head. Grainy malt, some tropical fruit hops. Dry, medium bitterness.
3.9 Can from brewdog Camden. Pours a slightly cloudy pale straw, minimal white head with poor retention. Nose is tropical fruits, melon, some stone fruit. Taste is fruity upfront, grapefruit moving to pine and a lingering but smooth bitterness. Dry finish with minimal malt presence letting the hops shine. Delicious
3.3 330ml can: BBD 5th May 2018. Poured into the free Brewdog glass that came with the multi-pack in my local Morrisons: thanks Matt my son-in-law for buying it for me. 5th Aug 2017 was the day I had the can. Golden body, full head of white foam. Tropical fruits in the nose and taste, grapefruit being a main player. Similar to a watered down ’Elvis Juice’ really. I think this because my next beer was in fact an Elvis Juice.
3.7 Can. Clear yellow golden with a creamy head. Aroma is fresh, full of tropical fruits, citrus, onion and pine. Moderately sweet, very fruity, papaya, litchi, grapefruit, a bit green with low maltiness, quite balanced, finish is bitter and a bit dry. Light-bodied, smooth and thirst quenching. Good easy going beer.
3.3 Bottle, smallish creamy head, light hazy intense yellow color, aroma of onion and pomello,, quite perfumy, citrusy light onion flavor, with just a malty hint, medium grapefruit bitterness. Nice.
3.5 Can sample at Beer and Beyond ipa day. Clear blond. Tons of grapefruit juice, some papaya. Bitter and very hoppy taste. Light body, bitter finish with some biscuit undertones.
3.2 Hazy. Looks like pickle juice. Tiny head that sits around the rim. Aroma is grapefruit and a sweaty hockey bag. Taste is lemon, melon, and grapefruit. Juicy texture.
