BrewDog Hoppy Christmas (7.2%)

Bottled, seasonal

single hop simcoe IPA

This Christmas, wish for a green Christmas. Where flurries of hop flakes blanket the world like you’ve never seen it before. And crunching through crisp, sparkling drifts releases billows of pineapple, citrus and papaya with every step. The reign of the snow angel is over. Long live the hop angel where parks and playgrounds become adorned with the outlines of celestial beings that fell to Earth from angry looking emerald clouds. Tune in to breakfast TV to find life’s on hold for 24 hours as this ’hop day’ demands you rocket down a hill on the back of a baking tray. Or simply raise a glass of this festive IPA as we wish you a very hoppy Christmas.

3.7 33 cl. bottle@ home, served in a tulip glass, due date: 2020/10/10. Aroma: powerful aromas of pine, citrus, grapefruit, tropical fruits, fruits. Apperance: gold color with slightly off-white head made of small to big sized bubbles, high to very high head thickness, extremely high retention, high Brussels' lacing. Very low haziness, almost crystal clear. Taste: low to medium sweetness, medium bitterness, sourness. Flavors of pine, citrus, grapefruit, tangerine, tropical fruits, fruits. After the first hop punch, a good amount of cereals, bread crust, bread, toasted cereals, toasted and caramel malts flavors. Balance is toward the bitterness, but very well balanced for the style. Mouthfeel: low to medium body, watery texture, medium carbonation, long dry finish with low to medium bitterness and the same aforementioned flavors. Alcohol is very well hidden behind the hoppiness and only noticeable because of the mouth and throat warming. No astringency. Overall: very good appearance, very good and pleasant aromas and flavors of pine, citrus, grapefruit, tropical fruits, fruits. Not the best IPA, but not a bad one. Tasty and very refreshing and drinkable. It would be better with more layers of flavors and a less watery mouthfeel.
3.4 Recommended by my brother after drinking it on a business trip. Clearly a difference in taste. I was not completely convinced
3.8 Utseende klar rav med offwhite skum. Aroma karamell malt krydder. Smak karamell frukt malt krydder rosin. Grei øl med litt julestemning. Smakt Nov 13
3.9 330ml bottle. Pours amber red with a thick off-white head with notes of grapefruit and pineapple instantly noticeable on the aroma. The mouthfeel is medium to thick even slightly chewy. In line with the style it is very hop forward but this is balanced out nicely with sweetness in the after taste. There is no lingering bitterness and the carbonation is high. The alcohol level is relatively steep but is difficult to detect through the taste alone. Overall, this is an excellent seasonal IPA with a lot of character.
3.5 Bottled, 330ml from The Brewdog Bar in Oxford St Clements. Hazy orange amber with white head. There is a reasonably full, malty background to this, some fruity sweetness, some slightly earthy notes. There is a resinous, pine hopped note with a fruit bowl of hop flavours, mango backed with some citrus. Fuller palate. Pretty decent.
3.7 Clear dark amber with a medium off-white head. Aroma is caramel, spices, pine and hops. Taste is light sweet and medium bitter
Rigtig god.
3.3 Sweet and hoppy both in aroma and in taste. Aftertaste is nice and Christmas-ish. Not bitter enough.
3.5 Arome is a little bit sweaty, that means beer is little bit overhoped. But anyway taste is great, a grapefruit bitterness, fresh and juicy.
3.5 Tap at Brewdog Tallinn. Clear amber colour, small off-white head. Aroma is caramelly, piney, grapefruity. Taste is grapefruity, caramelly, piney, slightly resinous. Medium body, average carbonation. Decent ipa
3.3 Copenhagen 7/12 2018. 33 cl bottle from Meny, Østerfælled Torv, Kbh Ø. Red version with Ice Crystals of Brewdog's usual design. Pours almost clear light amber with medium-sized head. Settles as thin layer covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing. Gentle and pleasant IPA - but not as Hoppy as the name seems to imply. Aroma is delicate and fruity but not overwhelmingly intense. Exotic fruit like peach and mango intermingling with a slightly more moderate citric odor of Grape fruit. Medium carbonation. Slightly thick, prickly, tingly texture. Flavor is medium sweet followed by slightly stronger bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with light sweet notes. Lingers for a bit. noticeable presence of alcohol. Semi-dry finish.
3.5 Color naranja oscuro, ligera turbidez. Dos dedos de espuma con buena retención. Aroma a cítricos y pino. Cuerpo acuoso. Grata sorpresa, buen equilibrio entre malta, pomelo y amargor.
3.8 F: huge, egg-white, long lasting. C: orange amber, bit hazy. A: orange, tangerine, mellow tropical fruits, roasted onion, caramel, herbal. T: medium malty backbone, papaya, bit pine, tangerine, grapefruits, orange, bit spicy, long lasting harmonic bitterness, good one, medium to full body, soft carbonation, fully enjoyed, 33cl bottle from BrewDog Brussels for crazy price 6,1€ why because of seasonal or new hotel somewhere in America?
3.6 330 ml bottle. Hazy amber coloured, big creamy head. Passion fruit, tangerine, mango, honey, pine, herbal hops. Hoppy bitterness, some malty sweetness. Full bodied, creamy texture, soft carbonated, dry bitter finish. Round and smooth IPA. Nice!

3.6 Bottiglia.
3.8 Bottle. This is a nice little hop bomb with loads of citrus and pine sap flavour.
3.9 Pachnie jak BrewDog, i jeszcze trochę żywic, grejpfrut. Pijalne mimo swej mocy, solidne, super.
3.3 Mucha fruta, algo de resina. En boca dulce, intensa. Destaca la naranja. BOTELLA. BB 30/09/2018
Excellent.
3.3 Bottle. Orange amber, lowish head. Classic citrus and pine hops, mingled with some tropics and berries. Medium to light body, mellow, slightly undercarbonated. Toffee caramel malt, somewhat sticky and one-dimensional. Grassy and tropical hop finish, pleasant enough, not Simcoe sweaty at all.
3.8 Wednesday, March 14, 2018. Bottle, 33cL. 7.2%. Purchase ("La P'tite Mousse", @Parthenay, FR). Home. A clear amber beer with big off-white foamy head ; medium retention ; ok lacing. Fruits (citrus, tropical fruits, orange), light resin, light herb. Medium dry refreshing bitter, light sweet, light spicy. Light to medium body, average thin texture, average gaseous, dry fruity refreshing bitter finish. Overall, very good ! yes :)
3.8 Barwa ciemnozłota/jasnomiedziana. Piana dość obfita, złożona ze średnich i dużych pęcherzyków, redukuje się do cienkiego pierścienia. Aromat charakterystyczny dla amerykańskich chmieli, cytrusy, ananas, chyba mango. W smaku dużo bardziej wpada w leśne klimaty, z lekką żywicznością. Poza tym dochodzi do tego lekki karmel. Piwo wydaje się zaskakująco krągłe, a konsystencja oleista. Nasycenie średnio niskie. Goryczka co najwyżej średnia.
3.8 Bottle. Clear deep golden pour. Modest off-white head. Nose: not intense still pleasant. Citrus, dank, tpropics, candy. Medium to full body. Soft carbo. Evident pale malt starts the flavour. Esters and dried fruit form the mid phase. Hoppy ending. Very dry, fairly bitter. The bitterness is complex enough. Good one.
3.6 0.33 l bottle from Pivoteka, Zagreb. Shared with lovely Anja. Clear amber, small off-white head. Moderately hoppy, herbal, nice basil, tropical aromas emerging. Very fresh fruity, herbal and spicy. Light alcohol. Light to moderate bitterness. Medium body, moderate carbonation, moderate finish. Not bad at all.
4.5 Superb
