BrewDog IPA Is Dead - El Dorado

BrewDog IPA Is Dead - El Dorado

keg and bottle, 2013 release

Using the same base 6.7% beer, a baby version of our Hardcore, we slam a mouth puckering 75 IBUs on top of a base of Marris Otter, Crystal Malt and Caramalt before throwing dizzying amounts of hops at these beers.

The Pacific North West of America is home to the brand speanking new El Dorado Hop. America is not just about cheer-leaders, a silly version of football, elastic top jeans and cheeseburgers. They grow remarkable hops and El Dorado is a killer example of this, embodying all that is good about American hops and then some. A new hop on the block, it may even seduce you into thinking the American Dream is not just a catch phrase to sell movies and elect Presidents. Fearfully hard to resist, this beer is loaded with tropical fruits, pear, watermelon, candy floss and stone fruit. Devilishly moreish.

3.6 Pours hazy orange, modest foam. Aroma is resiny with some sweet and toasty malt notes. I get jam (berries), also in the taste, with spicy and peppery notes in the end and a balanced bitterness. Interesting hop, El Dorado. Would like to taste it in a dark beer.
3.3 Bottle from Bierzwerg! Pours strong amber colored with a flat head. Smells very floral and herbal, slight fruity. Starts with herbal hops, very floral, with a hint of honey. Middle part has lots of herbs and floral hops. Finish is also deliciously herbal and floral, with some slight fruity hops.
3.5 Butelka 0.3L. Jasnobursztynowe, mętne z średnią, zbitą, jasnokremową pianą. Aromat chmielowo-słodowy. Mniej intensywne aromaty chmielowe niż w waimei.
3.9 Hops aroma with hints of pine and berries, so smooth with a slight resin mouth. I loved it.
4.0 330ml bottle. Pours a hazy golden amber, with a moderate off-white head, which lasts fairly well and leaves decent lacing. Watermelon, pear and mild kiwifruit and resin hops mix with caramel malt to create an alluring aroma. Peach and watermelon hops up front maintain their presence into a caramel malt mid-palate. Grapefruit hops come in at the finish, and there is a kiwifruit hops aftertaste. Another lovely single hop IPA; BrewDog seem to have done very well selecting slightly unusual hops for the 2013 IPA is Dead series.
3.3 Botella de 33 cl, adquirida en tienda XXXII. Color anaranjado oscuro. Sabor a lupulo, malta, ligeramente citrico.
Corpo leve, boa drinkability. Nao curti muito...
3.7 Clear copper. Small white, stable and dense head. Hoppy, floral aroma. Grape fruit. Moderately bitter, soft carb. Very drinkable.
Geruch intensiv malzig, fruchtig herb. Geschmack sehr mild fruchtig bitter nach exotischen Früchten.
3.9 Bottle Rehills Newcastle. Caramel, melon and pears in a big orange mash up. Sweet nose , long dry finish.
3.3 Bottle. Golden -orange colour with a white head. Aroma is pine, orange, citrus. Flavour is orange, pine, citrus, tropical fruit. Medium body. OK beer.
3.6 Deep orange with white head. Aroma is very complex hoppy. Citrus, lemon, earth, peach, herbs and caramel. Slick mouthfeel with low carbonation. Aftertaste is round, dry, fruity and lasting earth and citrus. Overall: very nice. Complex and easy to drink.
3.0 Bottled 330ml. -Mix of four different kinds from www.beershop.hr. Cloudy orange coloured, small white head, dry fruity nose. Sweetish malty, light fruity hoppy and caramel with apricot cake like notes in the finish. For me the best of four (Dana, El Dorado, Waimea, Goldings) but the differences are negligible.
3.9 33Cl bottle thanks to Bierkoning(Edo) dark orange beer with a small head, aroma is light citrus, taste is bitter-sweet, (galia)melon, orange. Very good beer !
3.7 Pours cloudy orange to dark orange color with minimal off white head. Very fruity nose, mainly oranges. Quite sweet in taste with a subtle bitter finish. Leaves a sticky mouth feeling (almost like an orange soda).
3.4 Nicely balanced sweet vs. bitter. Some caramel. Hoppy flavours. Aroma is more barley wine like than the usual IPA. Taste is good.
3.4 Bottle from Brewdog online shop. Orange colour with a moderate off-white head and a middling fizz. Tastes of orange and peach and caramel with a nice resinous mouthfeel. Pleasantly mellow and relaxing but like the rest of the 2013 series needs a bit more punch.
4.1 The last one from 4-pack. Pours slightly cloudy deep orange/copper with thin white head. Loads of fruit in aroma, mango, apricot, watermelon, berries. Some pine, bread and freshly cracked black pepper. Taste is mango, grapefruit, berries, pine, bread and some earth towards the finish and also some menthol in aftertaste - (what?!) that one is new to me. Medium body, oily texture, ok carbo. Quite balanced and easy to drink. Very nice.
3.5 330 ml bottle. Slightly unclear golden body with an off-white head. Compared with Dana this is more classic IPA, but still have some unusal flavors. Of course this has much in common with Dana as well. Sweet malt, balanced bitterness, tropical fruit and instead of the bubble gum if find it a bit more candy flavored. All in all pretty nice, maybe the best from this series.
3.4 Bottle from Kihoskh, København. Orangey amber. Mostely diminishing low white top. Light caramel and inviting tropical-fruity hops to the nose. Faint resin and herbs. Mid-bodied. Candy-fruity hop flavor. Firm bitterness. Semi-sweet malt base. Floral and herbal sidenotes. Fruity hops linger in the finish.
Aroma suave a frutas tropicales y miel. Cierto picor y ligero amargor. Excesivamente dulzona para mi parecer.
3.2 Draught @ BrewDog Camden, 113 Bayham Street, London, Greater London, England NW1 0AG. Murky matt medium orange color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, caramel, moderate hoppy, citrus, fruity, apricot notes. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, hop fruity, light earthy, light harsh bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20130401]
3.2 Bottle - 330ml. Cloudy, light amber body with an average, lasting, off-white creamy head. Light, fresh hoppy aroma with orange hints. Its well balanced hoppy taste carries malty and herbal notes. Ends with a decent bitter finish. Enjoyable West Coast IPA.
3.0 Bottle. Cloudy orange, offwhite cream. Lemon curd aroma. Citrus, lychee, orange peel, grass hoppiness. Medium light sweet malt base, slightly sticky. lemonny finish. Bit too much soda sweetnes for me.
3.6 Bottled. Hazy deep orangeish golden colour with a small white head. Aroma is toffee, crystal malts, some floral and fruity notes. Flavour is very similar in a good balance. Easy to drink and quite pleasant.
