Using the same base 6.7% beer, a baby version of our Hardcore, we slam a mouth puckering 75 IBUs on top of a base of Marris Otter, Crystal Malt and Caramalt before throwing dizzying amounts of hops at these beers.
Good old East Kent Goldings. Elegant and refined and like a quintessential English gentleman, inherently boring. Boring that is unless you put the amplitude into overdrive and hope the living daylights out of the beer with it.
This is East Kent Goldings re-invented and re-imagined and shows just what can be done with English hops if you use enough of them. An often overlooked hop superstar, normally getting lost in a woeful stream of conformist brown ales made by sleepy cask ale brewers. But not anymore. Classic Empire with an anarchic twist. God save the Queen.
In this amped up Goldings reincarnation expect to be slammed with floral lavender, a fruity riot of blackberries and spiced pears, bumble-gum plums and the illusion of thyme. It reminds me of the apricot marmalade by grandmother used to make.
I am a little bit too obsessed with this beer for my own good.

3.2(Bottle). Aroma and taste of fruity hops, flowers, grass and malt. A little peppery bitterness in the finish.
3.3Pours hazy orange/light amber with rather modest foam. Aroma is hoppy (resiny, flowery, grassy) with a sweet note. Taste is hop forward with a balanced malt background, making way for a dry aftertaste with more of the grassiness. Although fairly balanced, not a big fan of the grass in your face hop.
3.1Bottle from Bierzwerg!
Pours amber colored with flat head. Smells floral hoppy and fruity. Starts with mild fruity and spicy hops, slight floral in the background. The middle part has spicy and hops. Goes into a fruity, floral and slight bitter finish.
3.9Butelka 0.33L.
Ciekawy chmiel, połączenie nowych odmian cytrusowych, owocowych z ziołowo-ziemistymi aromatami. Najbardziej mi pasował z czwórki IPA is dead.
3.9Faint fruity aroma, smooth sweet hops flavours. A very nice beer that really shows off the hops, I could drink it all day.
3.4Puurs gold with hardly any head. Light aroma with mango and related fruits. Flavor has a lot of bitterness and some pepperiness.
4.1330ml bottle. Pours a hazy medium gold, with a moderate off-white head, which lasts fairly well and leaves decent lacing. Floral, spice and blackberry hops mix with caramel malt and stewed fruits to create the aroma. Initially mild floral hops gradually build to a crescendo of spicy, fruity hops flavours, with plenty of plum, and a touch of apricot jam. Caramel malt in the mid-palate gives way to stewed fruits and spice hops in the finish. I have to say that I am a big fan both of BrewDog and of what they call "sleepy cask ale brewers", and as such I love this marriage of the two. A very nice single hop IPA.
3.2Botella de 33 cl, adquirida en tienda XXXII. Color dorado anaranjado. Sabor a malta, lupulo, citrico, ligeramente amargo.
3.5Bottle from Great Grog, Edinburgh. A cloudy yellow-golden coloured beer with toffee and gentle sweet citrus flavours followed by peppery hops and a creamy mouthfeel on the finish.
3.0Cor amarela alaranjada e turva; quase sem formação de espuma com baixa persistência; sem lacing;
Aroma pouco intenso de toranja e laranja;
Sabor com início de caramelo queimado evoluindo para leve amargor cítrico;
Cerveja pobre de aroma e sabor
3.5Láhev 330 ml.
Geruch intensiv malzig, fruchtig herb. Geschmack sehr mild fruchtig bitter nach exotischen Früchten.
3.2Hazy orange color with small head. Aroma is mango and other tropical fruits. Flavor is really bitter, hoppy.
3.7330 ml. bottle, Pretty deep and a bit hazy golden colour, with a big head that leaves a compact lace and a cloak on the surface. Smell of tropical fruits, citrus, pine, apricot. Medium body, oily and lively palate, with bubbles playing in your tongue. Taste of tropical fruits, some citrus and caramel, earthy with a dry but with a hint of sweetness finish.
3.4Bottle. golden-orange colour with a white head. Aroma is orange, pine, citrus, grapefruit, malt. Flavour is orange, pine, citrus, grapefruit, malt. Bitter finish. OK beer.

3.6Pours a hazy amber with white head. Aroma is floral, grass, citrus, caramel and earth. Love the floral aroma. Slick mouth feel with low carbonation. Aftertaste is dry, spicy, floral, citrus and lasting dry. Overall: awesome. Floral hop bomb. Mix of english ale and ipa.
3.7Pours cloudy orange with an off white head. Citrusy, grassy and even wine like aroma. Nice amount of malty sweetness, slight grassy tase with an good fresh hoppy finish. Perfect amount of carbonisation. Best of the ’IPA is dead’ quartet.
2.9Bottled 330ml. -Mix of four different kinds from www.beershop.hr. Hazy orange coloured, small white head, some fruity tea like notes in the nose. Moderate malty, citrusy hoppy and mild fruity with hint of spices in the finish. Just average, expected better. After rating four of IPA Is Dead hop series (Dana, El Dorado, Waimea and Goldings) all I can say is...Mikkeller Single Hop are (much) better.
3.6Bottle from Brewdog online shop. Orange colour with a moderate off-white head and a middling fizz. Spicy from the off, with lemon coming through. Reasonable amount of bitterness. Unexpectedly turned out to be my favourite of the 2013 IPA is Dead box- it was the only one with any oomph; the only one that felt like it had any decent amount of hops. However, it still falls well short of the previous IPA is dead series.
3.1Bottle from Kihoskh, København. Orangey amber. Small, lacing white top. Toasted malts and grassy, leafy and faint citrus-fruity hops to the nose. Notes of herbs and mild spices. Mid-bodied. Grassy and earthy hop flavor. Firm bitterness. Semi-sweet malt base. Sharpish earthy bitterness linger in the finish.
3.2330 ml bottle. Almost clear golden with a dense off-white head. Relatively mild aroma of malt, grain, fruit, pine and some grass. Flavor is sweet malt, some caramel, fruit and grassy bitterness. Medium body and bitter aftertaste. Nice and more straight forward IPA and El Dorada and Dana.
3.233CL bottle at home, thanks to Bierkoning(Edo), Orange beer with a medium white head, aroma is citrus, flowers. Taste is bitter, lemon. Good beer.
3.23rd bottle from 4-pack. Pours cloudy orange with medium yellowish head. I really like the aroma of this one - pretty sweet, fruity and floral, apricot jam, some caramel and bubblegum. Considering the aroma, taste is bit surprising. Very little of that fruity sweetness, it just goes bitter pretty quickly...grapefruity, banana peel-bitter, also some cinnamon (?). Pretty strong earthy tones.
It’s drinkable, but I’m not crazy about it.
3.3Bottle - 330ml. Cloudy golden body with an average off-white creamy head. Good malty/hoppy aroma with mango and herbal hints. Its enjoyable hoppy taste carries grassy and some woody notes. Ends with a decent bitter finish. Good stuff.
3.6Bottle. Cloudy orange, offwhite cream. Lemongrass, lime, spritzy minerally nose. Earthu and citric bitterness cuts nicely through the base sweetness of the fruity,caramelly malt bottom. Grass, citrus, peach, spice, light minerals - earthy bitter finish. Nice really to get real flavor out of this classic hop.
3.2Bottled. Slightly hazy orangeish golden colour with a mediumsized white foamy head. Aroma is zesty, fruity, floral, toffeeish along with some sprice as well with quite strong earthy tones. Flavour is similar, but lacks the earthiness.
