Nelson is a love it or hate it kinda hop. We are cool with that, if we wanted to keep everyone happy we would be brewing Fosters anyway. Sharp as a razor, this New Zealand hop slices its way through your taste buds and is brutally resinous, almost scraping the intense flavours of passion fruit along your poor tongue. There is a huge depth of tropical fruit flavour with astringent gooseberry balanced against the robust malt base. Throw another shrimp on the Barbie mate and you are all set. New Zealand is near Austria, right?

4.0The beer in the glass is orange-yellow, very cloudy, with fine creamy head. It smells lots like aroma hops, flowery, fruity (orange and lemon) and light caramel. Starts with a flowery aroma hops, coupled with some caramel, and again a lot of orange and citrus fruits. The middle part is dominated by the orange flavor, paired with some citrus and floral hops. In the background it is slightly caramelly. Goes into a long-lasting, very orangey finish with some grapefruit and flowery hops.
3.7Hazy orange with a frothy white head. Aroma is peach, grapefruit. Body is oily with a medium carbonation. Bitter taste
3.5Bottle. Hazy golden orange with dense off white coloured head. Big floral perfumey aromas dominated by passionfruit. Flavours are sweet upfront before decent resiny finish. Medium mouthfeel.
3.7(Draught@Pikkulintu, rated 2011-08-09) Murky copper with a firm head. Exotic-peachy fruit in the nose, with berries and some stuffiness. Herby-fruity flavor with caramely maltiness and even some vegetables. Quite creamy, soft and full-bodied palate. Trailing the Citra version in every respect, but not exactly bad.
3.9Det här är en av de bättre ölen i ’ipa is dead’ serien. Den har en kraftfull smak som går lite åt det blommiga hållet, men ändå inte riktigt. Efterbeskan/smaken är lång och trevlig, riktigt lång.
3.3Hazy orange with a medium, white head. Fruity with hop tones. Medium to full body with a long, bitter finish.
3.5Flaske 0,33l. Spandert av Rune og delt hjemme hos ham 14 Apr 11. Gylden. Uklar. Høyt kremaktig skum. God fruktaroma: Aprikos. Godt integrerte smaker av syrlig frukt. Syrlig bitter ettersmak.
3.7Bottle. Orange with small white head. Hoppy aroma with orange and grapefruit. Flavour is also quite hoppy, orange, grapefruit, passionfruit with some sweet malt and bitterness. Quite dry and bitter finish.
4.3Pours a nice cloudy dark copper with a brilliant aroma of caramel malt and grapefruit/passionfruit. A nice deep malt flavour with great citrus undertones. This is a great hop and a great beer.
4.1Aroma of grapefruit and sweet oranges. Ripe orange flavour, opening into more bitterness. Some bitter almonds. Great beer, the best of the four.
3.8Bottle I bought at Utobeer, London, shared with Dutchdrebus at his place to celibrate his birthday. Hazy orange color, small white head. Smell lots of fruit, grapefruit, hops. Taste hops and nicely bitter, light grapefruit. Decent carbonation, medium body.
3.9IPA Is Dead tasting in bottle at home with Sev. Cheers Craig : ) Pours a deep amber colour with a fair white head. Aroma of passion fruit and a vinous Sauvignon blanc character. Grapefruit, passion fruit, pineapple and mango flavours. Nicely dry and bitter to finish. Mild carbonation and CO2 prickle. My favourite so far.
3.70,33 l bottle, Utobeer, London.
Deep golden one again with a creamy tan-off white head, similar like the brother Citra... More herbal aromas with resin and flowers in the nose, some fruity malt. Oily body, the same basis as the Citra, the hop is more grassy, the malt is a little bit sweeter with some fruitiness.
3.633 cl bottle @ Olutravintola Kahdet Kasvot, Tampere. Rated on 14.04.2011
Tasted in a vertical with other three Dead IPAs, this was second best. Aroma has stinging nettle and gooseberry bush. Stailish flavour has some ash.
3.8Bottle that Craig left with me, consumed at home Thursday 27th October 2011, cheers Craig. Pours orange/gold touch hazy with white head atop that soon departed. Decent slick, silky sweet malty base but wonderful hoppiness shining through, some passion fruit, in fact it is really quite tropical full stop, some hop burn on roof of mouth. Lovely beer. 4.0Hazy orange colour with a decent white head when poured gebtly. Smells hoppy, fresh, grapefruits, orange peel. Tastes bitter, fresh, fruity, hoppy. Great carbo, full bitter body.
3.3Gedronken bij dutchdrebus, oranje en niet helder, weinig schuim, ruikt hoppig, is bitter, veul hop
3.933cl. bottle from a local beer retailer. It pours a very hazy amber liquid with a small somehow lasting white head that leaves no lacing. The aroma is obviously very hoppy and quite complex, a little sweet and acidic, with piney and resiny notes along with fruitier ones (passion fruit, a little grapefruit, gooseberry and lime). Balanced and pleasant. There is also a slight caramel malty touch, spices and yeast. It tastes likewise, fruitier and sweeter, being medium-high sweet, high bitter and medium sour. In the mouth it feels mild but lively carbonated, oily, with a medium body and a very dry and bitter finish, with an herbal aftertaste of pine, resin and sour citron. Presentation rocks (as always with Brewdog) for a nice nelson sauvin single-hop.
3.6Bottle. Pours a hazy and golden beer with an offwhite head. The aroma is malt, some caramel and hops with grapefruit, citrus and tropical fruit. The flavor follows the nose with additional alcohol. The palate is sweetness with alcoholwarmth. Overall a good beer.
3.7Thick creamy off white head that lingers.
Clowdy pale orange color.
Big hop aroma with lots of tropical fruit but also grassy notes from dry hopping.
The taste is smooth malty with a nice bitterness that balance the sweetness. Big body for a IPA.
3.8Bottle (33 cl) from Systembolaget. Hazy amber, medium off-white head. Tropical fruit hoppy aroma with notes of goose berries. Medium bodied and smooth. Dry with meidum bitterness.
3.9En botella.Buena retención con aromas a uva,frutas tropicales.....muy buena sauvin single hop.
3.8Bottled. Pours hazy and pale amber with a large off-white head. Nose of tropical fruits, citrus and berries notes. Sweet flavour with exsotic fruits, caramel notes and berries. Medium to full bodied, creamy texture and medium carbonation. Nice bitter finish. An interesting, great brew.
3.6Pours amber with low quite frizzy head. Aromas of apricots and also some maltyness. Lightly bitter and a bit to watery for an IPA.
3.6Del av maxpack från SB. Krusbär möter tropisk frukt typ passionsfrukt. Jättegod.
3.6Armand629, thanks again!! Poured golden yellow, with an off-white, lacing head. Aroma of honey, grass, white grapes, apples. Medium bodied and carbonated. Sweet taste, with a well matching hoppy finish. Not an aggressive one, but plenty of character. Goes down easy.
4.4(bottle) Pours an amber-orange color, slightly hazy. Massively fruity on the nose, a little sour even (but not in a bad way). Aroma of passion fruit and lychees. Balanced by a nice maltiness. Aroma of the hops stays on the palate for a long time. Taste is mainly bitter, of course, but well-balanced. Intense and full-bodied. Demands attention, not to be drunk casually. I really love this one!
3.3Bottle. Amber. Cloudier than the Citra. Softer nose with more emphasis on tropical fruit. Less of an inherantly dry-hopped flavour. Good show altogether. It was nice when combined with the Citra as well. Good mix. Just saying...
3.8Pours slightly misty golden. Aroma is impressive, tropical fruits. Tatse is fruity, grapefruit, citrus, white grapes. Lingering bitter finish
3.6Mango, mango, mango! There are a little bit of passion fruit and gooseberry. But really, my friend who doesn’t drink these kind of beer thought it was a fruit beer.
