BrewDog IPA Is Dead - Sorachi Ace

BrewDog IPA Is Dead - Sorachi Ace

A hop that tastes of bubble gum? Seriously? No, we did not believe it either. But it does! This is one unique, son of a bitch of a hop. Lemony, deep, musty with a smoothness which belies its power. This hop is lemony like a lemon who was angry earlier but is now tired because of all the rage.  This hop of Japanese origin is best enjoyed trying to make sushi from your gold fish, or trying to persuade your girlfriend (or boyfriend maybe) to dress up as a Geisha for Valentine’s Day.

3.9 The beer in the glass is dark yellow with a little foam. It smells like a strawberry field, slightly sweet, sugary and chewing gum. Starts very sweet, like strawberries, slightly herbaceous, chewing gum also comes with some mint flavor. The middle part very herbal and slightly grassy, again with some strawberry and mint. Goes into a very minty, fruity, bubble gum-like finish with some herbal notes! Sorachi Ace is a fuckin’ awesome hop!!!
4.1 The aroma I got on this one was orange peel and basil. Dry and lightly bitter with a more pronouncedly herbal finish.
3.5 Hazy orange with a small white head. Fruity with hop tones. Malt, hops and fruit ( peaches ). Medium body with a long, bitter sweet after taste.
3.4 Bottled, 330ml from Bellingers Garage, Grove, Oxon. Gold with white head. Fruity, sweet lemon peel notes with a hint of strawberry. Light in the body with the odd Sorachi hop note and an alcohol kick, getting close to a Alcopop methinks. Drinkable in its own way though.
3.2 Flaske 0,33l. Gylden. Høyt luftig skum som varer lenge. Krydret fruktig aroma. Smak av appelsinskall. Ettersmaken det samme. Parfymert undertone. God - men litt uvariert. KI=2
3.6 Pours a nice deep copper with fast fading head and yes its smells like bubblegum!!!! That bubblegum flavour does come through with a nice malt backing. Cant say im a huge fan of bubblegum so even tho this is a great beer i wouldnt drink it again. Its nice for something different tho and it has a solid malt backing defiantly give it a go.
3.5 Cloudy orange with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel and rather hoppy - spicy. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish. 171111
3.7 Loads of fruit aroma, peaches and apricots. Roses and perfume. amazing fruit punch flavour. Very sweet, though some earthy elements in the tail. No dryness to speak of.
3.8 IPA Is Dead tasting in bottle at home with Sev. Cheers Craig : ) Pours a deep amber colour with a fair white head. Odd aroma of lemon, soap and mint. Flavour of Juicy Fruit chewing gum, bubblegum, mint, passion fruit and mango and caramel. Mildly bitter with mild carbonation and a foamy mouth-feel. Really interesting. I remember disliking this first time around but it’s definitely growing on me.
3.4 33 cl bottle @ Olutravintola Kahdet Kasvot, Tampere. Rated on 14.04.2011 Tasted in a vertical with other three Dead IPAs, this placed third. Aroma is rather light and flavour is dryish with some fruits. Palate is dry too.
2.6 33cl bottle. Slightly hazy light orange color, big white head. Some small particles in it. Smell lightly hops, but a lot of wort and herbs or spices. Taste some bitter, very lightly hops and a lot of herbs again; not really good imo. Medium carbo, low to medium body.
3.6 33cl. bottle from a local beer retailer. It pours a very hazy amber liquid with huge floating yeast spots and a small-medium somehow lasting not entirely white tainted head that leaves a very little lacing. The aroma is quite tropical and obviously hoppy, kind of sweet, with a main aroma of coconut along with some citron (lemon and a little grapefruit), prunes, grass and flowers, as well as yeast and some background malty caramel. It tastes likewise, with more lemon and grass, a little alcoholic touch (not annoying), being medium sweet, high bitter and medium-high sour. In the mouth it feels a little lively carbonated (little bubbles), oily, with a medium body and a very dry and very bitter and sour weird finish, with an herbal aftertaste of pine, sour lemon, a little coconut and a slight alcoholic touch. Presentation rocks (as always with Brewdog) for an interesting beer; it shows just how odd Sorachi Ace is.
2.2 Bottle. Smells bad. Looks fine. Tastes bad. A chore. Funky and badly judged. Brewdog, you’ve done it again...
1.7 Bottle. Pours golden with white head. Smells like farts and tastes like shit. This is a bad beer
3.2 Bottle. Pours a hazy and golden beer with an offwhite head. The aroma is malt, caramel and hops with pine, flowers and notes of perfume. The flavor follows the nose with additional alcohol. The palate is sweetness with alcoholwarmth. Overall an average beer.
3.7 Pours amber and foggy. It has a high quite bubbly head. Aromas of orange, citrus and sweet fruits. Quite mild taste in the beginning, medium bitterness in the middle and a sweeeeet ending. Vanilla butterish taste. Actually quite good
3.6 Bottle (33 cl) from Systembolaget. Hazy amber, medium off-white head. Typical S Ace aroma with pears, almond, and dill. Medium bodied, medium carbonation. Dry with medium bitterness. Sorachi Ace has an intriguing aroma which is perhaps not perfect as a single hop IPA.
Aromas a piña colada,chicle....resinosa.
Buena y refrescante asimilación.330ml bottle served in a Pint glass.Enjoyed on mar´11 Orangish light amber.Yellow froth,dense & lasting.Small bubbles.Chill haze.High & intense perfume profile.On palate lemon zest & resins.Very smooth bitterness at first sip but increasing in the middle.Medium carbonation.ABV is not felt.Good & refreshing drinkability.
3.1 Bottle from Systembolaget. Hazy amber beer with white head. Cat piss and fruits in the aroma. Taste is way too bubblegummy to be really enjoyable.
3.1 All right, this is one of the funkiest hops i know. Many people get very strange and that’s what’s fun with this beer, but it doesn’t taste that good in the long run. I found flavors of Clayfish, Dill, Lemon Bubblegum and Coconut.
3.3 Bottle. Hazy amber with a white head. Hoppy aroma with fruit and some herbs. The taste was quite balanced, hops and malt. Ok but not the best one in the serie of single hops from BrewDog.
3.4 Enjoyed this as part of the whole IPA is Dead collection shared with Daje Golden hazy, thin tanned head. Aroma is very herbal, i will say caraway and cummin, also marsipan. Taste is medium malty with some sweetness. Quite oily mouthfeel, also some dryness. Finish is quite nice hop bitter with herbal presence
3.2 Bottle at home. Light hazy, golden amber with a white head, fine lacings. Aroma light malty (caramel), moderate hoppy (coconut). Flavor medium sweet, light to medium bitter (coconut). Medium+ body. Very nice IPA, but more bitter hops needed! Really nice experiment.
2.8 Hazy golden with an amber touch and a large white head. Rich caramel, dill, green bananas and perfume in the aroma. More of the same in the taste but a even more focus on the dill, very strange. A medium bitterness at the end. Not that interesting beer to be honest.
3.4 Bottle. Pours an amber color with a white head. Aroma is quite strange because of the Sorachi Ace hop, I get peppermint, lemongrass and melon too along with some subtle sweet malty notes and a hint of bubblegum. Flavor is basically the same with lots of lemongrass, some peppermint, bubblegum, melon and the sweet malty notes. The body is medium with a dry mouthfeel. Overall a strange IPA because of the Sorachi Acem but still solid.
3.0 Bottle. Aroma of pears & vanilla. Golden with medium frothy head, lots of lacing. Taste of dill, pears, vanilla, ground coriander, light bitterness. A bit more creamy mouthfeel than the others. Overall quite different from the other 3, not my favorite of them.
