BrewDog Jack Hammer

Ruthless India Pale Ale

Start with a colossal grapefruit aroma. Pile on bitterness after thumping bitterness, and ride the anarchy wherever it takes you. The caramel razor is sharp, but the resinous bite drills straight through your taste buds. For revelling in the mediocre, raising hell and reaping the commercial rewards, Jack Hammer is the end of the line. The hopped-up, pucker-mouthed terminal extreme of craft brewing. This beer is bitter. Very bitter. If you push that button, don’t say we didn’t warn you…

Ingredients: Extra Pale malt, Centennial & Columbus hops, dry hopped to 200+ theoretical IBUs with Citra, Amarillo and Simcoe.

4.4 Good amount of tropical hop punch. Nice aroma. Yum
3.6 Can from Waitrose. Pours s a very hazy golden colour with a creamy white head. Good texture on the head. Pleasant malt flavour and an excellent mouthfeel. The taste is delicious minuted by New World hops with lots of orange peel and grapefruit in the flavour. Bitter finish. A well-made and tasty beer.
3.5 1 Pint can from Erzengel. Thanks a lot! Juicy golden in the glass with a more than one finger white head. Smooth tropical fruity smell, grape and mango. Taste starts with an intensive hop bitterness, dry, malty but also some sweetness in the second row. Complex stuff. Low carbonated. Very nice stuff.
3.1 Enjoyed it. Nice looked with nice head. Bitter. Grows on me as pint went down

3.5 Bottle. Clear pale yellow with a decent white head. Aroma of mostly grapefruits, pine, lemons and some caramel. Taste is grapefruits and pine with a little bit of oranges backed up by a solid caramel malt base. Long lasting bitterness that goes a long way. Medium carbonation. Alcohol blends well in. I wasn‘t that impressed at first sip but it did grow on me. Nice but not as outstanding as the label wants you to believe.
3.1 Can. Surprised it's not rated. Nose is pine, citrus, ripe mango, pineapple. Taste is resin, pine, grapefruit, hint of lemon, grapefruit pith, hint of vodka in the overly bitter finish.
3.5 Old rating from 2015 - 330ml bottle, pours amber with a white head. Aromas & tastes of pear, stone fruit caramel, pine, grain, earth & hops. Medium body. Crisp strong bitter finish.
3.2 If you like west coast this maybe for you bit too bitter for me. Lots of Carmel and pine. May have got a hint of pear.
3.9 Faintly clouding, medium head with piney nose. Flavours are lightly tropical, resin, tart and super bitter. A go to beer to remind me of being in cali.
3.0 Can from Waitrose, malty and faintly perfumed, a light caramel sweetness but overwhelmingly bitter and hoppy.
3.8 Lattina.

3.9 From a brewdog advent calendar. 7.2% beer that is a very nice balance of hops, malt and alcohol. Not too sweet considering the % alcohol. Taste of grapefruit, lemon, hops and malt. Lingering hops on the palate. Awesome.
4.3 Can from Sainsbury’s. Light Amber pour with a white sustaining head. Aroma of citrus with a taste of citrus and grapefruit, slightly rich yet very pleasant
5.0 Light Amber pour with a white sustaining head. Aroma of citrus with a taste of citrus and grapefruit, slightly rich. All round quality beer!
3.7 Pours hazy light orange with a medium head. Aroma of citruses and cherries. Taste of grapefruit, butter, some nuts. Medium carbonation. Lasting hoppy bitter finish.
3.8 440ml can from Morrisons. Slightly hazy gold, moderate white head with some nice retention. Aroma is grapefruit, orange, caramel malts and pine resin. Taste is semi-sweet, grapefruit, a stewed citrus note, loads of pine in there, orange peel zesty tang with a very big dry bitter finish. Moderate body with a soft carbonation works well. This certainly packs a punch particularly with the level of bitterness. I like it.
3.7 Packs a punch does this, big on the grapefruit bitterness and a smack of resinous pine as well. Very slightly hazy gold with a frothy white head, it slips down smoothly and tastes dry and bitter and hoppy, just like a modern IPA should
4.2 BrewDog Jack Hammer Ruthless IPA 7.2%. Cloudy amber, pine and citrus aroma, full bodied, caramel malt, stewed citrus fruit, grapefruit, pine, bittersweet finish. Gorgeous IPA from Ellon 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
2.9 Pours a light pale gold. White head. Not much on the aroma, just smells like hops to me. Fruity, bitter pine on the palate. Nice light mouthfeel. The bitterness ramps up to the point of acrid, a bit like hairspray. Drinkable, but I woudn't rush to pick this up again.
3.5 Fruity,pine.nice bitterness,but could be fresher and smoother. Bbf:12/07/2021
3.7 44cl can from Abeervinum, Rimini, Italy. Pours orange blonde, medium transparency, with fine white foam. Aroma is citrus-intensive, but also tropical fruits and piney. Body is fairly dense, with average carbonation. Taste is intensely bitter. Final is fairly long and still intensely bitter.
3.3 Bottle. Amber with fine sediment. White head. Aroma is hay, herbal, a little soapy. Medium sweetness with prominent bitterness. Balanced carbonation. Fine IPA, but not for me.

4.0 Draft at Brewdog Cardiff. Pours lightly hazed mid golden with a cream head. Aroma: pale malts, citrus - mainly grapefruit, orange, pine & resin. Taste: light to moderate sweet & moderate bitter, more grapefruit citrus, also orange marmalade, peach. Light to medium body, soft carb, dry hoppy bitter finish.
3.4 Grosse grosse amertume mais ne masque pas le fruité
