A meeting of two worlds; a fruit infused sour India Pale Ale. Wonderfully tart, bitter, piney and filled with the fruity elements from raspberries, blueberries and sour cherries. Oh, and it’s purple.

4.3Zapach z butelki: czarna porzeczka, owoce leśne, gdzieś tam majaczy aronia. Szkło: Nuty owocowe w większym urozmaiceniu. Do tego nawet rabarbar. Piana: wysoka, jasna, lekko malinowa, o dużych pęcherzykach. Opadająca w optymalnym tempie i dobrze koronkująca. Aronia, czarna porzeczka i jeżyny plus nieco winogron. Laik pomyśli, że to jakiś owocowy chłam, ale BrewDog zaskakuje i daje całości nawet nieco winny posmak. Bo to właśnie winna nuta pozostaje w ustach, a cierpkość owocowa ją jedynie wzmaga.
Fölötte lebeg a pirosgyümölcsök egyvelege, fanyar, enyhén édeskés ízkavalkádja. Közepesen testes, picit karcos, nagyon érdekes ízvilágú sör.
3.5beautiful and bizarre name, quite fitting for this beer. In aroma, the sour berries translate into minerally smelling seaweed/pineapple enzymes, with small hoppy dots of bergamot and citrus. Tastes better than this, pools of tangy, tropical, citrusy hopglow with a sour berry lining (redcurrants, blueberries) and a definite raspberry finish. Extra points for how refreshing and superinteresting an example this is of how fruit tartness behaves in a tropical pale ale.
3.3Pours a reddish amber with a small beige head. Aroma is malt, fruit, citrus, pine and some hops. Taste is medium sour leading to a tart finish.
2.8Murky. Not transparent at all. Raspberry-red color. Medium head. Smells berries, raspberry and distant hops. Taste is a bit sour and empty. This was very over cooled so not much to add. More berries in the taste upon warming up and sourish finish
2.9Bottle - pours reddish brown with small white head. Aroma is fruity, blackberry and raspberry shine through, there is also a bit of resin which gives the whole thing a bit of a medicinal aroma. Taste is hop bitterness with a fruity overlay, tartness come into the finish. Palate is smooth. Not sure this works.
3.4Botella 33 cl de vivalabirra tomada en el momento en Oviedo 17..04..2016. (r141).
3.5Bottle @ home. Pours with a singular orangy-reddish pink colour, small off-white pinkish head. Aroma is the typical tropical madness of today’s APAs, but even more fruity than usual; I like American hops, and, although this is not one of those more elegant aromas, it certainly is one to be enjoyed. Unfortunately, taste is extremely faint and disappointing; it’s not bad per se, but I’m afraid this beer really is too light on my tastebuds. Light to medium body, watery texture, soft carb. A fruity APA; not that original, but if they work on this they could make quite a good beer for the sweet-lovers.
3.4Pours red with a thin pink head that recedes quickly. Malty, sour raspberry aroma. Taste is sour fruity raspberry with a sour finish. Medium body and carbonation.
3.7Froma 330ml bottle on 7/4/2016. Pours a cloudy medium to dark red with a medium white head. Has a light pleasant, quite tart aroma of berries (particularly raspberries and blueberries) and cherries. Flavour wise, it has a subtle but distinct sourness to it with all the promised berries and cherries. There’s a bit of countering sweetness and just a hint of bitterness. The flavours actually come together rather well. it’s unusual and quite refreshing. It has a touch of Rodenbach to it, but with more fruit and a fair bit more punch. Medium bodied and fairly lively carbonation. Nice stuff and a successful experiment. I’ve never tasted so many berries in a beer.
3.733cl bottle from lovecraft, Aveiro. Dark red, brown color. Thin head. Taste is light medium sweet, medium sourness. Aroma is egg, red fruits, barnyard. I think the egg is not supposed to be here, but it’s still good.
3.4Purple mahogany body, small off white head. Aroma has sorbus, oak, cherries and some sweet mixed berry. Flavour has redwine like notes but clearly has some bitterness.
3.6Dark red color, average sized white head. Aroma of red fruits, I picked up strawberries and cherries. Also malt and fresh hops. Very promising. Taste is.. shit... tart, sweet and bitter at the same time...heavy cherries and berries kick. Well, tartness and sweetness are far more evident. Bitterness is kinda suppressed. Hard to notice anything else next to that strong fruity kick. Still, it works. Light to medium body, average carbonation. Too bad it’s not slightly stronger. But it definitely works.
3.2Bottle 0.33l from Hops Beer Shop in Trieste, Italy. Hazy dark amber pinkish color with small pale pink head. Aroma of herbs, pine, berries. Medium to light body, medium carbonation. Sour and a bit thin. Taste of berries, pine, almost no sweetness. Light and refreshing for those who like sourness.
3.4Bevuta alla spina. Colore rosso intenso. Schiuma rosa e cremosa. Al naso sentori di cicca alla fragola. Aroma di frutti rossi come fragole e ciliegie e agrumi. Il sapore è picevolmente amaro, astringente, leggermente acido . Finale di media lunghezza, fruttato. Birra che si beve piacevolmente.
3.8Bottle @ deTolly, Tartu. Pours rea with small white head. Aroma: sourish, fruity, grassy, hay, berries, dry cow shit, Taste : medium sour, weak bitter, berries, blueberry, Medium body.
3.8Drunk from 33cl bottle bought at the Malting Pot in Brussels. Excellent sharp, sour, berry infused pale ale.
3.5On tap. Colore rosso intenso ciliegia.
3.8Bottle. pours a pinky purple like no other beer I’ve seen. Massive aroma of berries and cherries. Fruity and tarty with the sour cherries and blueberries hitting up against citrus and grapefruit. Sour and refreshing but not mouth-puckering so. Belgian sour beer meets US IPA?
3.1330mL bottle from Slowbeer. BB 16/09/16
Odd looking thing - murky purpleish bronze body, holds a small but dense magenta(?)ish beige head.
Hops are the dominant force on the nose, quite pungent - pine resin, leafy, woody, cooked/dried citrus rind, touch of tropical fruits that sort of leads into subtle berry character - it almost seems hop derived (Brambling X?)
Body is somewhat lean upfront, bit vinous with some acidity & tannin, hops give it a resiny kick, moderate carbonation a bit coarse.
Fruits become more apparent on the body with fleshy blueberry & blackberry, vinous once again, touch green/unripe somewhat amplified by leafy, resiny, piney hop onslaught. Bracing acidity, appreciable tartness with that upper-palate mouth-scrunching tannic cranberry feel to it that lingers.
What an odd beast! Really not sure it works TBH
3.8Suor cherry And american hoppy aroma explosion. No malt aroma but low citric acid arima. deep red with pink reflections. Persistente but lower than average white foam. Flavour: citric acid med-low, wild strawberry And unripe red grape. Med-high American hops (maybe chinook, Simcoe or el dorado), low astringency, med-low carbination, no alcohol warmth. Low final sweetness, quote dry. Low diacetyl And burnt match in the aroma ad it warms up. On draft.
3.0IBU : 50
Chmiele: Citra, Centennial, Challenger (UK), Mosaic, Bramling Cross (UK)
Dodatki: Wiśnie, borówka amerykańska, żurawina, jeżyna
Kolor : Jasna czerwień. Piwo jest czyściutkie. 100% klarowne.
Wysycenie: Niskie.
Podsumowanie:
Gdyby to piwo uwarzył średniej klasy browar, to wszyscy by się nim fascynowali.
Wrażenie robią ciekawe dodatki: jężyny, borówki amerykańskie i żurawina.
Słodki smak miesza się z gorzkim i kwaśnym.
Fajny miks.
3.4330 ml bottle. Magenta-purple body capped with a tightly packed pink head. Cherry, passion fruit, lime and flowers in the nose. Brightly sour up front before a crisp hop bite. Somewhat subdued finish leads into a fresh fruity aftertaste. Good.
3.4330 ml bottle at home, Dark red rubby color with off white pinkish head. Malty and yeasty aroma, light hoppy too, bready, caramel, tart fruity, berries, pine, grass. Light sweet, acidic, and light bitter fruity taste like aroma. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.
3.4From a bottle. Interesting stuff, the sour is not over the top, can definitely taste the IPA backbone, looks amazing.
3.6Pours mauve with a large fading pink-tinged head.
Nose shows caramel, soft floral notes and a hint of cardboard.
Acidic flavours, bit berry notes especially blueberry. Not too much in regards to hops, just some grassy notes and a reasonable bitterness.
3.0On tap at BrewDog - Edinburgh. Pour is brown/amber with a thin tan head. Aroma and flavor of lemon peel, berries, and pine. Finish is semi-sweet from the fruit with a hoppy finish.
3.6(Draught at BrewDog Camden, London, 25 Nov 2015) Dark red colour with frothy, pinkish head. Fruity, hoppy nose with notes of citrus, sour berries and resiny hops. Fruity, tart taste with red berries, raspberries, cherries, citrus and a dry and tart finish with a balanced citric bitterness. Medium body, quite dry. Fruity, tart and hoppy. A bit weird but a nice one.
4.3Small pink head over clear rusty-cyclamen beer, low carbonation. Very fruity hops’ nose, New World hops. Nectarine, lunaria, passion fruit, citrus, but also berries. Dry, leafy hops, again lunaria and (slightly unripe) passion fruit. Extremely aromatic, inviting and refreshing. Light body, titillating CO² feel. Excellent marriage! A combination hitherho unknown - a new favourite!
