3.6 Negra con espuma blanca poco persistente y baja carbonatacion. Aroma licoroso, madera, caramelo.
3.7 Pours a deep brown. Aroma is cocoa, chocolate. Taste is sweet red berries, cocoa and roast coffee.
3.8 Bottle 33cl / Botella 33cl. @ XXXII The Great Power of Beer & Wine. A: Dark brown / Marron oscuro. T/S: Malt, raisins, rum, sweet / Malta, uvas pasas, ron, dulce.
3.3 Bottle. Pours in clear dark brown body with no head. Aroma has light touch of rum, a lot of yeasty, some caramel. Taste has high rum sweetness at first with some astringent notes, almost acidic. Yeasty. Body is full, low carbonation.
3.8 Bottle. Looks black but held agaist a light it "just" pours a deep red colour. There is a 1-finger tan head that disappears completely after a minute. Aroma of malt, fruit and rum. Taste is chuck-full of fruity flavours and malt but also has notes of spices, sugar and lots of rum. Sweet with a fruity boozy finish. I gotta say I was dissapointed by this one. It’s not that it’s bad - it’s just underwhelming and certainly not a good buy at the price I paid (If I were to have this again I wouldn’t even want to pay half what I paid for this one). Tastes fine though.
4.4 How: Bottle. Appearance: Dark red, off-white head.. Aroma: ripe fruit, rom, cherry . Long finish.
4.4 Overall: Raisins, sherry, plums. Delicious. Note: Bottle 330 ml at a De Klomp tasting. (Vintage 2011) Reviewed 2014-12-27.
3.8 Bottle at home, dug out of the cellar. Pour like Coca-Cola, dark brown and quite clear, small head that quickly disappears. Aroma is rum, brown sugar, gingerbread, treacle. Quite thin. Flavour of rich molasses, rum, a touch of spice.
4.7 Oh man, what a wonderful beer. I was lost for words really. This is so good.
4.0 Deep brown/black with a good beige head. Aroma is raisins, dates, chocolate, plum, caramel, hint of spiced rum. Medium bodied, slightly sticky mouthfeel, fruity on the palate with a lightly warming finish. Taste is raisins, spiced rum, chocolate, plum, fig.
4.0 Keg at Brewdog Edinburgh. Pours deep ruby, nose is sherry, raisins, taste is sweet, cherry, rich, chocolate. 3.9 Bottle at craig’s. Pours deep ruby brown, nose is cola, toffee, light funk, taste is similar, quite sweet and fruity. 4
3.8 330 ml bottle at home. Dark brown-red color with frothy light beige head that quickly disappears and leaves just a ring. 2/5 score for an imperial porter’s appearance. Aroma is malty, light roasted, wood, alcohol, fruity like dried fruits (raisins etc) in a sweet red wine. Taste is sweet, it’s like the aroma but a little better with the addition of chocolate. If this beer had a better body it would be great!! Light body, oily, soft carbonation, nice alcoholic bitter fruity finish.
3.9 Clear, deep copper body with a red hue. The small head is beige, leaves virtually no lacing and disappears completely, except for a fully lasting bubbly ring at the wall. The beautiful looking colour of the body saves the Appearance rating however, this is one tempting looking brew! The malty, light roasted and sweet aroma is very strong with delicious notes of dark dried fruits, well integrated alcohol (including mild rum), caramel and chocolate. Very strong flavour of dark dried fruits, this one is really full of raisins! Distinct but still very well integrated rum notes, dark caramel and chocolate. Moderate sweet taste and a pretty heavy bitterness in the very long-lasting finish. The body is close to full and it has an oily texture that dries up in the finish, the carbonation is moderate. Brilliant! [33 cl bottle, batch 176, enjoyed 2 years and 8 months after bottling, from Vinmonopolet Online]
3.4 A lovely beer. The bottle is now home to my late dog Kajsa.
3.4 Bottle from BrewDog online shop (cellared since July 2012). Dark murky brown, slight off-white head, molasses, oak, alcohol warmth, liquorice, prunes, brown sugar, slick, syrupy, long boozy finish. Nice.
3.7 Dark brown color with a minimal and quickly diminishing off-whte head. Aroma has notes of toasted malts, ripe red fruits, molasses and slightly barrels. Flavor s sweet, almost cloying, molasses dominates over the rest, red and ripe fruit are also present, some cande sugar and barley malts. The final is sweet, very fruity with notes of barrels and slightl rum.
3.5 Bottle trade. Smells of caramel, dough, and moleasses. Flavor is dark fruit, liqorice, Earth, roast and bread Nice blend. I enjoyed it.
3.1 Backlog. Bottle via Systembolaget. A little too heavy on the alcohol-esters for me.
3.6 Pours jet black with mild beige head. Aroma is dark chocolate, burnt malt, alcohol. Full taste of dark chocolate, malts, bit of caramel, lots of booze.
3.6 Brian’s contribution to the tasting. A Lost Abbey/Brew Dog collaboration. A dark opaque brown bordering on black with a filmy beige head. 2 years old, light rum, light woodsy ness. Light bodied, zesty, spritzy mouthfeel. Candied plum, sweet, a bit woodsy, easy drinking with the only heat being in the pit of the stomach. Good stuff.
3.8 How: Bottle. Where: The Bishops Arms Bellmansgatan, Stockholm. Appearance: Red-brown colour with a beige head. Aroma: Almond, dark fruit, vanilla, alcohol, raisin, wood, malt. Body: Smooth full body with a low carbonation. Flavour: Plum, dark fruit, alcohol, chocolate, raisin, liquorice.
3.5 Bottle from Trembling Madness, York. This is a hazy dark red-brown beer with a sweet red fruity and chocolate flavour, spicy fruity (rum?) notes and a warming sherry-like finish.
3.0 Bottle. Pours dark red maroon with a small off-white head. Aroma is nuts and muscovado and some whiffs of alcohol. Medium body with average carbonation. Flavour is sweet with malts, dark fruits, prunes and alcohol, giving a lasting sweetly finish.
3.8 Braun, geringer weisser schaum, malz, rum und süsslicim aroma, gehaltvoll, geringe rezenz, süsslich im antrunk, leicht alkoholig, kaum herb, süsslicher leicht klebriger nachklang
