Next up, a lager. There are two schools of thought here, you can either keep it classic and nail the colours of Germany or the Czech Republic to the mast, or you can freestyle. Lost Lager is the best of both worlds. BrewDog Head of Production Jason Pond has spent months dialling in a brand new dry-hopped pilsner that has, at its heart, two secret weapons.
The first is the contemporary German hop variety Saphir – renowned for a vibrancy of citrus and stone fruit. The second is the deployment of lager yeast from the world-beating Weihenstephan. Conditioned for 28 days, Lost Lager is destined to be a crisp, clean pilsner with hints of spice and a zesty lime marmalade character. Prepare to lose yourself at the end of the month.

1.5Pours a straw colour. Taste is not to hoppy but a sweet iron taste. Being a fan of brew dog. I can not drink this be Dew to the sheer about of gas in it. Half a bottle and it felt like I’ve drank helium. Won’t be rushing back to purchase this beer.
2.5Gold with a thin, frothy, white head of modest duration. Aroma of mixed grains, metals. Taste is mildly bitter with a hint of fruitiness and a cardboard finish. Light-bodied, moderate carbonation. Drab.
4.2Pours a clear straw yellow with a thin white foam with good retention. Texture is fizzy with a hint of hazyness. On top, toasted bread, yeast and a citric slap. First sip is aggressive due to carbonation, typical lager feels with rounder notes of bread and grass. Notes of tea and orange during the drink. Very well balanced between the bready malt notes and the hopped aftertaste. The citric profile makes it super refreshing. Body is light but sharp. The foam keeps persisting during the whole drink and, halfway down, lemon and cedar waves come and go. Aftertaste is delicate, a bit bitter and refreshing.
2.7Bottle from Tesco Supermarket, Rochdale. Straw coloured with a head. Decent textured with a stated malty-pilsner taste, with hints of citrus providing added flavour beyond the ordinary.
3.0Slightly darker but clear golden colour. Fine stable white foam. Surprising hints of lemon and citrus in the nose. Citrus hops flavors prevail. Mid body, mid carbonization. Crips aftertaste with a slightly soapy finish - unlike the typical crisp lager finish.
3.9Farbe strohgelb
Geruch:leicht getreidig mehr aber auch nicht.
Schaum mittelporig konstant
Geschmack: wie ein Standard Lager nur mit Geschmack. Ganz leichte Zitrusnoten. Kaufe ich wieder
3.3Unfiltered German style Lager by Brewdog, fitting in their contemporary policy of a slick global craft beer company - the days when a few Scottish punks shook beer drinking Europe with bold and daring experiments seem further away than ever. Snow white, stable, moussy, membrane-lacing head, misty yellow-straw blonde robe. Aroma of chamomile, sweetclover, white bread pulp and sandwiches, plaster, grass, wet cereals, damp kitchen cloth somewhere, lemon zest. Malt-sweetish onset, minerally carbonation, soft and rounded body; some green pear and unripe banana fruitiness retained by the yeast, but otherwise straightforwardly pale malt sweetish, with this pleasant bready edge but also something soapy or plaster-like, a tad glueish even, and a sourish-grainy edge as well. Very floral finish, field flowers and meadow grass, only lightly bitter but expressive enough to even yield something faintly lemony, matching well with lingering minerality and soft malt sweetness underneath. Nicely bready (in a thin, slick way) by being unfiltered, simple yet balanced, a very decent lager indeed - though in a sense more Maibock-like than Pilsener-like.
3.4Can. Pours hazy pale straw with stable white head. Clear aroma of yeast, hops and citrus. Bitter, hoppy and grassy flavour with notes of yeast and malty touches. Estery and hoppy aftertaste with acidic notes. A nice one. That is, I guess, what a modern lager should be.
3.3330ml can at Taps Beer Bar, Changkat, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear light straw colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is malt, big cardboard yeast, light grassy hop. The flavour is moderate to light bitter, with a light, crisp, woody hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. As far as lagers go, this is a step above the rest with a little bit more going on, but at a Brewdog price.
3.2600ml bottle from the Co-op. Pours a yellow gold with a thick, lasting white head. Good flavour with notes of lemons, grass and greengages. A nice, bready malt base and a clean yeast flavour. Crisp and flavoursome with a hint of herbs and meadow flowers. A decent lager - not quite a Pilsner but interesting anyway.
2.0Sample, thanks oh6gdx! Almost clear pale golden, mid sized head. Faint notes of floral hops and bread up front. Dry with very light body and clean mouthfeel. Watered rice cake, marzipan and elderflowers. Slightly metallic finish with long bitterness. Watery and edgy.
1.8Pale golden with a large soapy white head. Tangy and grainy with cardboard and light floral hops. Medium finish and body.
3.2330ml can - Pours a clear light golden colour with a foamy white head. Aroma is bready, pilsner malts with some grassy notes. A moderately sweet taste, light toasted pale malts, straw and bready flavours with a light drying bitterness.
3.5Bottle from Sainsburys. Crystal clear light golden blonde pour, big frothy head. Aroma is very subtle lemon zest, sugary malt, herbaceous hop. Taste is crisp lager yeast esters, lemon, cantaloupe melon, bready malts, honey, some wheat husk powder, flowery hops. Nothing mind-blowing, but really nice for the price, very accessible, seems pretty eco friendly as well.
3.0500ml can as Lost Lager Dry-Hopped Pilsner, 4.7 % abv, bought at Eide Handel. Shared with Mari. Hazy yellow-gold body, remaining white head, fair lacing. Moderate lemon and pale malts on the nose. Fine blended taste profile of pale malts, dough, orange. and a lemony bite. Malt-fruity ending, dry and with vague bitterness. Quite alright, and okay partner to our lamb pie. (Tromsø 09.05.2021).
2.4Real talk folks. Pilsner is a really hard category to knock off my socks. Especially with all the inventive stuff out there. But when done right, it can be an ambrosia of the Gods. Brewdog's shot at a pilsner doesn't fully hit that mark. Don't get me wrong, it is decent. Certainly as good as many of the macro German joints like Becks. But it's not next level and for me, not as great as what some of the Czechs do. The beer is a prototypical clear, golden color. The head billows up as quickly as it recedes, but reestablishes itself really well with a merlot style swirl of the glass. The aroma is grainy and light earthy hops. Taste is very crisp and quite refreshing, but it has a very light mouthfeel and passes through the palate without making much noise through the swallow. Overall, crushable, crispy and refreshing; however not going going set the world ablaze.
2.7This is way out of good pilsner. Only color is ok-light gold. No head, very small, fast diminished. Weak aroma. Malts behind, but some weird bitterness ahead. Not satisfying at all.
3.5Aroma is malt, honey, flowers and sweet hops
Yellow pale colour with small lasting head
Taste is malt, sweet hops and dominant floral notes
Medium low carbonation with a smooth watery mouthfeel
Pretty good!
Tasted at home with my dad
3.4A little hazy yellow colour with white head. Smell of malt and hops. Taste of hops, malt and floral notes.
3.2Many thanks for this beer to Erzengel. Pours a medium golden color. Medium hoppiness, slightly oily mouthfeel. Modest bitterness.

2.8Bottle @ Ebsens Barbeque Ball. Pours slight unclear yellow with a small White head. Grains and dishwasher. Slight paperbag. Watery. Slightly poor feel
3.4C: clear pale straw yellowish
N: shredded grain, lightly soapy
P: grainy, citrus fruit notes, crisp, fresh, neat, light. Not nearly as malty as Czech pilsners.
3.2[Uploaded from backlog - 11/15/18] On tap at Dutch's. Nice straw type aroma, some prominent spicy hop, light to moderate bitter, lighter sweet, pretty dry. Medium body, kind of soft carbonation. Solid lager on the hoppier, more bitter, dry side.
3.3Can from BrewDog Online. BBE Nov 2021; Drank Mar 2021 - Clear light yellow. Good long lasting white head. Excellent lacing. Aroma of grainy malts and grassy hops. Taste of grainy malts, straw. Moderate hop bitterness, grassy, herbal. Spicy, yeasty. Citrus fruity. Dry. Moderately bitter grainy malty grassy herbal hoppy citrus fruity. Drinkable hoppy lager. Likeable. Fine. (2021-03)
3.6Pint can from my hotel bathroom. Something I never thought I'd type. Clear gold. Bready malt, piney and grassy hops.Aroma a bit more citrus. Medium bodied, crisp, lingering bitterness.
2.7Clear, light gold, decent sized white head. Nose is floral hops and biscuit/bread. Medium sweet, high bitter, medium low sour. Aroma is primarily floral hops. Too bitter for me, I'm a baby.
3.8Perhaps a subjective opinion, but this is an excellent Lager unlike any other you will have tried, but I wouldn’t expect everyone to like it. I wouldn’t describe it as a Lager for Lager drinkers as it doesn’t provide the typical ratio of subtle hops to balance a sweet bready malt. Instead we are given a strong yeasty character, bold hops, plenty of spiced-herbal activity, and an unusual zesty curry finish. All in all, this is a high quality mis-understood Lager for fans of craft.
