4.2Old rating rerated 28.01.2018, 0,33l bottle (batch #102 bottled on 03.05.2013 @ 15,2% ABV) @ home:
Nice light brown slightly bubbly-creamy mediumlasting head, deep dark pour. Aroma is rich and sweet boozy, dark sugar, dark malts, dark fruits, licorice, alcohol, minerals, bark, caramel, raisins, grass, coffee, berry skin, burnt toast, chocolate. Taste is sweet mineraly, dark sugar, raisins, minerals, dark malts, alcohol, caramel, licorice, coffee, bark, prunes, berry skin, butterscotch, weeds, hay, toast. Medium bitterness, sweet boozy mouthfeel. Nice.
3.817.2%ABV. Imperial stout.
Poured out oily black. 40ºSRM.
Nose has black chinese medicine tea with seratia grosvenorii or lo han Guo. Raisins and and and overall pretty Pinot noir like nose. Earthy, dark chocolate aromas also.
Mouthfeel is syrupy. Palate has dates, honeyed stone fruit, plum jam, sticky date pudding. Hint of dark chocolate and cold coffee.
Finish is boozy.
4.5Intense peat, oak, dark chocolate, cacao. Hazy, very dark brown, hardly any head. Heavy sweet. More sweet, dark chocolate, sweet, dark, candied fruits, caramel, peat, burnt toast, burnt wood, soft carbonation, full bodied. Beautiful, even better than the Nogne O version. Bottle shared at Leighton's - thanks to madmitch76!
3.9A surprisingly well balanced and accesisble RIS considering the abv. The liquorice presence is borderline too much for me, but otherwise the flavor profile is quite complex and not stupidly burning despite the abv.
4.4The Black tasting hosted by Kraddel 17/10/2017. Bottled 2013.
Aroma is nice roasted grain, cigartabacco, molasses, sweetness and damp wood. Taste is a tad sour which gives this 17,2% Imperial Stout a very drinkable quality. Nutty, coffee, roast, licorice, port. Palate is liqueur, full bodied and buttery. I ate this with a homemade Mikkeller Black 2017 infused pate!
4.3Bottle. Either 2010 or 2011 vintage. Tasted blind. Thanks to Mike. Nose of rich chocolate, red wine, prunes, barrel, and a lot of alcohol fumes wafting up. Thick and slick black. Rich sweet chocolate, super-dark fruit concentrate, some soy sauce, and heaps of dark sugar, Very heavy body, and slick on the tongue. Massive flavors, very warming, Great blend of these three monster beers.
3.9Pours black opaque with tiny light brown head, which transforms itself to a ring around the glass. Aroma: roastef grain, dark malts, sulphury notes as umami etc
....flavour is more intense and complex:roasted grain, malts with notes of caramel, toffee, milk chocolate, coffee, intense cacao, sulfury (umami, soy souce), sherry, brandy -like alcohol notes...finish is slightly sticky, dry, body is full, texture smooth, carbonation low.
4.6Svart. I doften finns aningen rökt skinka, kaffe, mörka bär, lite honung. Smaken är supefyllig, lite rökt skinka, bärsötma med fin balanserande beska. Oerhört maffig och komplex öl, en riktig höjdare! (2012-01-07)
4.3A: Black as the darkest midnight.
N: Dark bitter chocolate, rich chocolate mousse, orange peel.
T: Bitter and acidic, but this is absolutely necessary to cut through this squid ink of a drink. Citrus peel. Whisky. Biscuits, Soy sauce.
P: About as full as it can get.
O: It is almost impossible to envisage having two of these in a row, it is that intense. But as a single drink, it is hard to beat.

4.1Black colour with brown foam. You cant really feel that the beer is 17,2 percent. A lot sweeter than expected.
4.2Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, molasses, alcohol, coffee, chocolate, brown sugar and licorice. Taste is heavy sweet and light bitter with a long very sweet, warming, chocolate and coffee finish. Body is full, texture is sticky, carbonation is flat.
4.533cl bottle from ZlyCasy Prague
Pours opaque black with a very tiny head.
The nose is a massive attack of liquorice, coffee, chocolate and some vanilla.
The taste has liquorice again and not much else, but the note is massive. Overall, very good beer.
3.9Bottle. Pours deep brown with a burgundy tinge with a medium brown head which soon recedes. Aroma is oxidised, some fruity coffee and coffee. Taste is cocoa bitter, coffee bitter, vanilla, bourbon heat, fruity coffee.

3.9Bottle. Delicious, sweet, roasted malts, soy sauce, chocolate. Nice bitterness. Generally very good
4.1Shared with Wim at bbq Kristof & Valérie. Black colored beer with small brownish head and no carbonation visible. Medium sparkling palate. Finish is alcoholic bitter sweet hinted malty roasted. Nice one!
3.9Along with Yves at home christof black colored body with an off white head and and a chocolate malt coffee hops aroma a chocolate malt sweet fruity alcholic bitter taste with a alcholic bitter finish
4.1Bottle courtesy of and shared with Kermis.
Thin ring tan head. Clear black pour. Boozy aftertaste. Very good
4.7Bottle from Erzbierschof’s advent calendar. What a great, great craft! Aroma of strong coffee, dark chocolate, ripe dark fruits, some alcohol, some vanilla, in a beautiful balance. Intense taste, bitter and sweet and roasted and creamy and softly carbonated and balanced and strong and beautiful. Long boozy warmy palate, intense dark chocolate and coffee and nuts. Outstanding flavour mix and balanced, very strong yet still not overdone. One of the best beers I ever had.
4.4A slightly better version of Tokyo*. I must admit I’m having some trouble identifying exactly what Nøgne Ø and Mikkeller brougth to the table on this one but I like it. Pitch black, aroma of dark roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, soy. The dark malt and chocolate exists heavy in the taste as well, but with the cranberries from the Tokyo* less dominant. A bit too much alcohol in the finish, but it does bring a nice, warming sensation. Excellent Imperial Stout!
4.1(Bottle) Black colour with brief, brown head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of strong black coffee, liquorice, dark chocolate, cacao, a touch of soy sauce and prunes. Malty, roasted taste with strong sweet espresso, liquorice, soy sauce, cacao, caramel, burnt sugar, a touch of anise, some pine needles and a generous roasty coffee bitterness in a vinous finish. Full body, fairly sweet. Loads of liquorice and strong black coffee. Quite powerful and vinous, still in surprisingly good balance. Excellent beer.

3.4Bouteille 33cl, BB 20.07.21, batch# 057.
4.6Bottle, dated 03-05-13. 15.2%. Appearance- unsurprisingly, this is pitch black. A half-finger brown head appears but doesn’t last long, leaving a few bubbles around the edge. Aroma- tons of it- dark chocolate, coffee, leather, tar, freshly laid road, whiskey, tiramisu, boozy dark fruit, burnt charred malt, vanilla, liqueur chocolate, oak, port wine, boozy Christmas cake. Smells massive. Taste- huge boozy sweetness dominates. Roast malt, bitter espresso coffee, burnt toast, smoky malt, treacle toffee, burnt cake mixture, spiced rum, whiskey fudge, dark rum, massive vanilla sweetness comes through towards the end. Sweet syrupy finish, clingy syrupy mouthfeel. Impressive stuff, although the balance is very much on the sweet side...
