4.4 Black with no head. Whisky aroma. Full bodied flavour with wood, whisky and warm alcohol finish.
4.0 This rating is done in memories of Mr. Ian Kilmister while listening to Bomber. The album is great as is the Beer.
4.0 Bottle. Poured black with tan head. Aroma strong barrel sweet vanilla. Light carb med bod. Tastes sweet dark fruit choc oak blend. Pretty balanced
3.6 Bottle shared by omhper, thanks. Long lasting dark brown head. Black color. Complex dark roasted aroma. Lether taste with sweet chocolate and a balanced bitterness.
4.2 Dark, with brown head. Good malt aroma caramel, coffee, nuts, toast, roasty, chocolate and raisin. Full bodied, but not so oily and creamy
4.0 330ml at the Hoppy Pub, Thessaloniki, courtesy of skullgeorge. Black color with beige head. Malty aroma, roasted, light soy sauce, smoked, whiskey, wood, caramel, dark dried fruits, chocolate. Sweet and bitter taste like the aroma with vanilla. Medium oily sticky body with soft to flat carbonation. Thank you George!
3.7 peat and port! pitch black with some tan coloured froth on top, thick treacle body very sweet with burning alcohol, can taste the jura, peat and some coffee notes. this is ok, not as good as i was hoping.
4.2 Appearance is pitch black, with a foamy brown head which leaves a few bubbles. Aroma- loads of boozy sweetness, rich dark chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, Christmas cake, treacle, burnt malt, hint of dark fruit. Taste is rich chocolate, leather, tobacco smoke, espresso coffee, rich chocolate cake, vanilla, whisky, alcohol, oily and sticky mouthfeel, syrupy sweet finish. Intense, a little unbalanced, but still very good.
4.5 Kullsvart med flott brunt skum. Kaffe og tørket frukt i aroma, noe alkohol.
3.9 How: bottle Appearance: Black, thin head. Aroma: coffee, tobacco, dark fruits Palate: soft carbonation, medium body.
3.8 Bottle at home. Purchased at Brewdog Bristol Summer of 2013. Bottle said drink by 2017. Not sure of the bottling date. Upon opening the bottle was filled right up to the cap. Poured an opaque brown with two fingers of tan head. Aroma is dark fruits and roasted Malts. Flavor follows with a good dose of charred wood. Very sweet almost syrupy. Thick on the mouth. This is a decent beer, but not world class. Had right before a 1014 Goose Island BCS and it was a much much better beer.
4.5 Draught at BrewDog, Camden on 10 Mar 2012. Poured black, with a dense tan head. Massive aroma of oak, mahogany, whisky, roasted malt and caramel. Super smooth mouthfeel. Complex flavour of rum, more whisky, liquorice and coffee. Burnt malt in the finish, with smooth dark fruits, dates, booze and peat.
4.0 Deep dark with rubin reflex color with almost null head, strong roasted and alcoholic/liquor aroma, sweet, in mouth is really intense, bitter roasted and whisky, licorice and sweet final, smoke sensation, clear alcohol presence, oily body and no carbonation, great IS!
3.9 Bottle. Salted dark chocolate, wood smoke. Black, low head. Fullbodied, creamy mouthfeel. Light flowery, bitter chocolate, salt, light spices, a hint heat. Very well balanced and quite delicate.
4.5 Another whisky-aged variant of the Paradox, with completely black robe and thin, light beige, unstable head. Very complex and agressive aroma, overwhelming perfume loaded with chocolate liqueur, charchoal, whisky, banana, crème de cassis, wood, raisins, sweet tobacco, vanilla... Rounded palate, thick and creamy, powdery mouthfeel, molasses and candied fruits, port-wine, candi syrup and vanilla, very deep and complex maltiness, whisky-like alcohol and tannins in the finish but nowhere astringent, very chocolatey, long and complex. I liked this a lot more than the Isle of Arran version, fascinating how ageings on different barrels can lead to different stouts. In fact, this one belongs to best imperials I ever tasted, and will recall for a long time.

Smak: Lakrits, kaffe, rostat, whisky, dooleys, smörkola, alkohol.
3.7 Bottle from online shop (July 2012). Dark oily black, dark brown head, aroma dominated by boozy dried fruits, oak, roasted malts, flavours more of the same, some chocolate, smoky, warm alcohol, long boozy finish. Ok.
4.0 Bottle at bottle share from Dan. Thanks! Pours a jet black, motor oil with a thin mocha head. Head gone in 30 seconds with slight ring left and mild lacing. Aroma of dark fruits, dark chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla, coffee, and caramel. The taste was a nice blend of the aromas presented with the dark chocolate and dark fruits most dominant. Slight boozy finish with dark cocoa and prunes. Some spice. Thick, full, chewy body. Solid beer.
4.5 Bottle at home. Light spicy whisky, roast chocolate, liquorice, sweet, bitter and dry, rich chocolate finish.
4.1 Rated on my wives first Mothers Day Forrestal Apt West Seneca NY.Pours a dark jet black color with medium carbonation, thick head and good lacing. Huge aromas of brownie, chocolate, coffee, caramel, toffee, raisin, wood, dark molasses and brown sugar. Flavors highly sweet upfront with brown sugar, medium smoked wood (especially in the finish), medium alcoholic presence, molasses, slight chocolate/toffee/caramel. One of the most sweet stouts I’ve tried that takes away from the other complex flavors as does the alcohol. A great sipping beer that is worthy to buy again.
3.8 There is plenty of complexity to this barrel aged stout. Dried fruit and peat combines with the bracing whisky notes to round out this beer. I got a little smoke and heat, this is very malt forward. Very interested to see how this would mellow within 5 years.
4.0 This pours black like oil, same viscosity too. Dark fruit, peat, and dark chocolate on the nose; follows onto the palate. This finishes very earthy, the peat really comes through on the finish.
4.0 My Bottom Line: Wood and eau-de-vie impressions lead a fruity attack into a complex dark chocolate and roast plateau before a splash of whisky sets up algae, caramel and even more roast in the aftertaste. A surprisingly impressive Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout, from every angle. Further Personal Perceptions: -A ring of foam crowns the dark brown-edged black. -The body is leaner than I had expected, which I like. -For all its potency, this remains a classy Impy. -Raisins also appear in the aftertaste. -Carbonation is soft, leaving plenty of room for the malts and barrel to express themselves. -This one is not trying to be excessive or aggressive. It’s complex and accomplished throughout, and actually a pleasure to sip.. Bottle from 2002.
4.2 Bottle to glass. Oil pitch black pour with a thin khaki head. Nose is sweet dark chocolate, peat, booze. Taste is sweet cherry and chocolate up front mixed with mild peat from the Scotch barrel, and nice boozey body. Abv is hidden well.
4.5 11.2oz bottle from Beers of the World, Henrietta, NY. $12. Pours an inky black. Only a very little dark brown around the edges when held directly to a 90 watt light bulb. Aromas of roast, chocolate, booze. I get some bourbon notes, but no peat. Taste is sweet. Flavors of very deep roast, some decent amount of smokiness, roasted logs on the fireplace. Pretty smoky and deep. Very sweet, but matched up with the enormous ABV, it’s not entirely cloying. Getting a little honey in there as well. Very low carbonation. Warming. Pretty damn deep and complex. Finishes sweet with a total mind fuck of roast on the back end. This is pretty neat stuff,if you are into this sort of beer.
