BrewDog Pumpkinhead

BrewDog Pumpkinhead

We’re turning Hallowe’en inside out and upside down. Pumpkinhead is not your usual unctuous, cloyingly sweet Hallowe’en pumpkin ale. Sure, there’s a huge heady hit of pungent spice on the nose, but it’s followed with bright and zesty citrus flavours, and a light mouthfeel.

Spicy and sweet autumnal favourites like toasted marshmallow and toffee apple are just some of the complex notes you’ll find in our first twisted take on a pumpkin ale, which weighs in at 5.1% ABV.

3.6 Bottle. tried as Pumkin King at a strength of 5.5.. Clear bronze appearance. Spicy flavours dominate with some citrus in the mix..Bit of a novelty beer but slightly better than I anticipated.
3.3 330ml bottle. Clear golden colour with a small white head. Aroma: pumpkin, spices, cinnamon, ginger, toffee. Taste: exactly as the aroma, kind of sweet but not cloying. Light-medium body and carbonation.
3.7 Bottle. Tan golden beer with tan head. Aroma of sweet pumpkin and spices. Taste of cinnamon, pumpkin, herbs, cardamon. Light body, medium carbonation, dry and slight sour aftertaste. Weird beer overall.
3.1 Nicer than the few other pumpkin ales I’ve had. Smells like cinnamon/ginger and sweet potato. Tastes much less impressive- like lager you gingerbread.
3.1 Hazy ochre liquid, average head. Aroma of yeast, with a hint of licorice. Light body, little bit carbonation. Taste of pilsner and herbs.
3.1 sweet and spicy smell, reminded me of the smell of jagermiester, but upon taste very pumpkiny but nothing amazing
3.0 Refreshing, crispy with a very little spice to it. Easy to drink, a bit to easy for someone who grabs a pumpkin ale. A bit of a disappointment.
2.7 Bottle @Alex T’s, Kishan is leaving, will he come back Tasting. Pours orange/red/pink with a bubbly off white head. Nose is spices, cinnamon, ginger but it also smells sweet like Haribo Tangfastics. Taste is spicy pumpkin, slightly sweet finish, big spices.
2.9 Butelka 330ml. Ciemnomiedziane. Piana biala srednia ladnie utrzymuje sie w szkle. Aromat dosc intensywny jarmel na pierwszym planie potem duzo duzo przypraw :cynamon.gozdziki.cytrusy.kardamon. w smaku znowu duzo przypraw.prawie jak w grzancu. Miodowo-karmelowa podbudowa i dyniowy posmak. W Halloween wchodzi dobrze...
3.9 Can taste the pumpkin. Drinking it straight from the bottle so not too sure of appearance or aroma, but a suitable beer for this time of year.
3.3 Felt I should finally try a pumpkin beer, as ’tis the season and all that... it’s not bad. It’s not great either though. Drinkable, but I won’t be chasing anymore pumpkin beers...
2.6 Draught at Brewdog Gbg Golden. White head. Spicy aroma and flavour with pumpkin and cinnamon. Nah...
3.4 Bottle. Amber body, Medium white head. Nose is pumpkin, nutmeg, cloves, vanilla, ginger and menthol. Sweet to the taste, although not overly so.
3.0 Bottle. As Pumpkin King 5.4%. Some pumpkin and associated spices to the nose. Similar in taste with a bit of citrus and sweet caramel. Pretty light bodied and nice for a pumpkin beer but can’t say I’ve been persuaded by the idea of them yet.
3.4 Bottle from Morrison’s as BrewDog Pumpkin King. Amber with lots of visible carbonation at first, but the bubbles die out a bit and leave a clear liquid. Strong pumpkin spice, especially the nutmeg but cinnamon is to the fore as well. Nice sweet taste although maybe a trifle cloying (and I like sweet beers). Full enough mouthfeel, with a fair bit of cinnamon in the aftertaste. Not bad for a pumpkin beer.
3.3 Bottle. Pours amber with a pretty small white head. Aroma of caramel, bread, dough, cheese and pumpkin seeds. Nice palate, medium body, softly carbonated. Sweet finish. Nicely balanced flavour, mostly sweet, spiced with cloves. I quite like this.
3.1 Bottle from Morrisons, Walsall. Amber beer with medium head. Aroma of malts, caramel, spice and pepper. Taste is spice, caramel and citrus. Ok.
3.4 Bottle. Pours mostly clear amber with a medium off white head. Caramel malty and spicy aroma. Cardemon and pumpkin. The flavor is semi sweet with spicy and caramel notes. Not too spicy which is good. A whiff of hops.
3.5 330ml bottle as the 5.5% ABV Pumpkin King, at home on 28th Sep 2016, beer five in a random tasting session with myself. Poured into a Leffe chalice, the full white head soon burst it’s way to a wisp and collar, below there was a clear light terracotta/orange body that was clear and bright. Pity the head left so soon, because it looked really good after the initial pour. Bonfire night with ’Brandy Snap’ came to mind as I sniffed the beer (no smoke or Brandy Snap, just my mind floating). Pumpkin aroma and taste, semi-sweet and very different to most UK brewed pumpkin beers I have tried before: this is more ’in your face pumpkin’. Liked it, but needed salted biscuits to finish the glass. Fair do’s to Brewdog, this is another fine beer from them in my opinion (not that they’ll care).
3.4 330ml bottle as Pumpkin King, at 5.5%. Dark amber with a fair off white head that lasted well. Sweet pumpkin pie aroma, flavour was sweet, dominated by cloves and perhaps a little thin. Decent
3.1 13/20 pumpkin beer, really pleasant, has the same spice you'd find in a mulled wine, but fairly subtle. Good as a one off
2.9 Golden thin head cinnamon bubblegum some spice in the taste slightly thin in body bottle from morrisons.
2.9 Bottle as "Pumpkin King", 5,4%. Hazy amber/orange with small off-white head. Aroma is malt, pumpkin, spices and caramel. Flavour is malt, caramel, pumpkin, spices, toasted, sweet and a little bitter.
3.4 Bottle from boxbeers.dk. Pours amber with an yellow, lacing head. Aroma has notes of pumpkin, malts, and sweet caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of spices, pumpkin, malt, and caramel, leading to a dry spicy finish.
3.4 330ml bottle from Brewdog shop. Thin white head, nice lacing. Slightly hazy amber body. Nose is cinnamon, a little pumpkin. Flavour is caramel, marshmallow, apple, pumpkin. Light carbonation, a little prickly, decent mouthfeel. Surprisingly good.
3.6 Orange with a stable white head. Nose is spices mostly cinnamon. Taste is dominated by cinnamon, finish spices. My first pumpkin beer. Tastes more like xmas than Halloween to me because of the spices.
3.2 330ml bottle, shared with Roger, at BrewDog Castlegate. Hazy amber-gold body. Fair lacing from a dissipating beige head. Pumpkin and brown malty aromas. Taste of pumpkin, caramel and ripe fruits. Slightly spiced fruity ending. Medium bodied. Pleasant enough (Aberdeen 19.04.2016).
3.2 Pumpkin King, 5.4% bottle from Brewdog Soho pours reddish brown with a fast-settling head and aromas of cinnamon and nutmeg. Slight syrupy texture with prickly carbonation, dry toffee malt and a distinctive pumpkin pie spiciness.
3.4 Pumpkin King, 5,5% ABV, Lotto 160575, best before 20/08/17, aperta il 5 febbraio 2017. Corpo medio, mediamente carbonata.
3.1 Bottle, 330 ml from Pivoljub. Pours orange with small off-white head. Malty, spicy, light to moderate pumpkin, caramel. On the sweet side. Certainly not the best pumpkin beer I’ve had.
