BrewDog Punk IPA (6%)

BrewDog Punk IPA (6%)

Re-released as a special in April 2017

The recipe was changed at the end of 2009, and this version is no longer made, if you have a bottle with a BBD after 01/01/2012, you should go to the "Punk IPA (5.6%)" version.

Bottle and keg: Filtered. Cask: Unfiltered.

Ingredients: Marris Otter Extra Pale Malt; Ahtanum Chinook, Crystal, Motueka hops. IBUs 60

A beer of inherent contradiction. This heavy weight of the beer world is strikingly delicate with a white gold appearance. The light fruity aroma dominates the initial confrontation; lychee, kiwi and passionfruit all prevail with subtle nuances of cherry and strawberry. Don’t be fooled however by this smooth medium bodied ale. As it trickles down your throat as this wolf in sheep’s clothing begins to grow teeth. The bite comes as the bitterness builds and endures no matter how hard the malty sweetness of the alcohol tries to tame this ferocious beast.

4.2 Aroma, of caramel and tropical fruit, pours a hazy caramel color with a thin white head. Delicious taste of fruit and caramel, with a medium body and a light citrus finish.
3.6 citrus, herbs, earthy, pale, hazy, white foam, light sweetness, light body, long finish,
5.0 La migliore IPA finora assaggiata. Ineccepibile.
2.6 Bottle. 6.0% abv. Backlog rating from bottle collection and historic scoring. Source not recorded. No tasting notes kept, just rating.
2.6 Pours golden with a big head. Aroma of corn syrup, very lager like. Bit of a lager taste too. Disappointing.
4.1 the colour is golden. when you open the bottle, the aroma of tropical fruit is punch on ur face. The taste is like pineapple and a little bit malt flavour. Love It!caramel, floral, citrus, dough, golden, clear, white foam, medium sweetness, lightly bitter, light sweetness, medium sweetness, lightly sour, light body, thin feel, flat, long finish,
4.0 Semplicemente una delle ipa migliori mai bevute. Punk IPA una garanzia (anche alla spina)
3.5 Bottle from brewdog online store, revival pack. It taste quite similar than the current punk ipa, but the new recepie had some improvements.. So let this one on the closet! Nice to have a chance to compare.
1.8 5/20 actually thought it was pretty bad, really lager and hops pretty disguised. Alright for a lager, doesn’t taste like an IPA to me
3.2 Klar øl med duft af humle. Smagen er god med balance mellem bitterheden og en svag sødme.
3.2 Very typical, punks are long gone I guess. Floral hops, malt, light overall.
3.1 At brew dog pub in sweeden. Punk? Not hop forward light hop average week brew. This is as punk as johnnie rottens great grandmother.
3.0 Bottle from special originals pack, ordered online. Pours pale golden with a residing foam. Scent is light notes of floral hops. Taste is lighter than expected with some soapiness. Finish dry. Good.
3.4 Aroma 6/10. Appearance 4/5. Taste 7/10. Palate 3/5. Overall 14/20. Comments: 330ml bottle from Brewdog online. Orangey gold amber colour with a foamy white head leaving lacing and aroma of malt, grainy, biscuit, hop, slightly metallic. Flavour is malty, grain, with some fruity earthy hop bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation and tangy bitter finish. Quite drinkable.
3.6 Tried in a bottle from BrewDog online. Blind tasted against the new version. Slightly hazy golden colour with s white head. Citrus and tropical aroma and taste. Medium to full body. Slightly more fruit in the aroma and bitterness in the finish, than the original.
4.0 A nice hoppy beer with fruit flavours. Worth trying as it's a good easy beer to drink in the hoppy world :)
3.4 330ml bottle from Brewdog shop. Thin white head, nice lacing. Clear golden amber body. Nose is pretty malty, biscuit, some light tropical fruit notes. Flavour has more hops, tropical fruit coming through, a very sweet malty note as well. Good lasting bitterness. Medium carbonation, good mouthfeel. Good but I prefer the newer recipe. ---Rated via Beer Buddy
3.4 Appearance is golden, mostly clear, a clingy off-white head. Aroma- malt, honey hints, hops, grapefruit, fruity hops. Taste- bitter hops dominate, pineapple, toasty malt in the background, mango hints, pine, bitter hoppy finish.
3.6 From tap at Le Trappiste, Bruges. Pours hazy yellow with a big, foamy, white head. The aroma contains flowers, hops, citrus, other fruits and grass. It tastes light to medium sweet and medium bitter. Long bitter and hoppy finish, but never too sharp. Soft carbonation, creamy texture, delicate.
3.3 Keg at Brewdog Shepherds Bush as Brewdog Original Punk, 6%. Translucent golden orange, still with a foamy off white head. Aroma is airy, touches of grapefruit and bread. Body is smooth and rounded with soft carbonation. Taste has some light gummy bears and straw, dried citrus peel, bready malt, soft floral astringency. Decent but not stand out.
3.6 Piwo skonsumowane. Ocena na podstawie retrospekcji w celu uzupełnienia profilu.
4.6 The beer I fell in love ten years ago and now the original version is back again. And it still tastes good. So perfect. The main reason why I love IPAs.
3.9 33cl bottle at home from Brewdog webshop. Nose is rather malty. Body is clear pale golden, head is small, white, creamy, mostly diminishing, good lacing. Aroma is malty, tea, leaves, grapefruit. Light to medium sweet, medium bitter. Finish is long lasting hoppy medium bitter. Medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation. Easy, refreshing, simpler and less citric - fruity than the new version, nice one.
3.7 Goud kleurig bier met een witte schuimkraag. Aroma: graan, lichte fruitigheid, wit brood.
Aroma a lúpulo terroso, resinoso. Sabor afrutado y terroso. Fuerte acabado amargo duradero. Cuerpo medio y carbonatación, buena sensación en la boca. La clásica Punk ipa de Brewdog no decepciona como caballo de batalla.
3.4 33cl bottle shared with a friend. Clear golden with a medium white soapy head. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Subtle bitterness with fruity sweetness. Citrus, subtle grapefruit, tropical fruit, tangerine, straw and malts. OK.
3.6 Batch 170166 CB4, best before 18/07/17, aperta il 23 aprile 2017. Ben carbonata, corpo medio.
3.4 Bottle. Golden body white head. Was really looking forward for this rebrew, as I think that I had, the original once before my rate beer days and as I can remember it was not my favorite, the new one is fresh, still one of my faves. Aroma is fruity herbal with light malts in the background. Taste is malty some fruits hints of herbs. Aftertaste is is nice bitter slightly balanced by some malty sweetness. Was expecting more.
3.9 33cl. Bottle. AGM rebrew. Pours clear yellow with white head. Aroma pine, some citrus, biscuit, caramel. Taste biscuit sweets, piney bitter. Mouthfeel bit oily. I like the current version better.
3.3 Had loads of this back in the day, but I don’t rate from memory so I was happy to see them re brew this. Keg at Brewdog Soho. This rebrew is a shadow of the original, maybe it is just my terrible memory. A clear golden orange coloured pour with a lasting thin white head. Aroma is spicy lemon rind, hop, cereal grains, rustic straw, jammy fruits.. Flavour is composed of grassy lemon hop. Simple base grains. Palate is semi crisp semi sweet, moderate carbonation.. Disappointed, no big Nelson Sauvin character I remember. Would have been a 3.8 from memory.
