BrewDog Sink the Bismarck

BrewDog Sink the Bismarck

Sink the Bismarck! is beer, amplified. With the volume turned full up, it is important you that you be careful with this beer and show it the same amount of sceptical, tentative respect you would show an international chess superstar, clown or gypsy.

Sink the Bismarck is a quadruple IPA that contains four times the hops, four times the bitterness and frozen four times to create at a staggering 41% ABV.

This is IPA amplified, the most evocative style of the craft beer resistance with the volume cranked off the scale. Kettle hopped, dry hopped then freeze hopped for a deep fruit, resinous and spicy aroma. A full out attack on your taste-buds ensues as the incredibly smooth liquid delivers a crescendo of malt, sweet honey, hop oils and a torpedo of hop bitterness which lasts and lasts.

1.8 Draught @ Fox & Hounds, Sønderborg. Pours dark amber wirh small white head. Clear aroma of malt, caramel and boooze.. Bittet taste of alcohol and not much else. Ditto aftertaste. Not nice.. Sank me, not the Bismark. Fire!
3.5 Bottle, courtesy of Beer5000. Pours dark brown with a tiny head. Aroma of malt, alcohol, glue and cardboard. Flavor is sweet and malty with some licorice, alcohol and soy sauce. Full body, still.
3.5 Bottle: Aroma is extremyly alcoholic and sharp, concentrated herbal hops. Amber color, no head. Flavor is sharp and alcoholic. Very herbal bitterness with resin, candies, herbal bitter hops. Burning alcoholic finish.
3.2 Bottle shared for Allagash’s Drink It Now Day. Dark brown color. Aromas of booze, grains, caramel. Tastes of caramel, toffee, peat, raisins. Medium body with a dry finish.
3.8 Insanely strong boogie. Mean red brown. Malty. Sake. Herbs. Very well intriguing.
3.0 Bottle Sharing / Piwne Degustacje Kraków Kołor ciemnopomarańczowy, nieprzejrzysty. Całkowity brak piany, co jest zupełnie zrozumiałe przy tym ekstrakcie. W aromacie dżem z pomarańczy, brzoskwini i papai. Duża nuta alkoholu, W smaku likier owocowy z dominantą w postaci pomarańczy. Gęste, zawiesiste, mocno chmielone z długą chmielowo-alkoholową goryczką. Alkohol potężny, jak z nalewki owocowej. Do spróbowania w małej próbce niegroźne, więcej niż kieliszek jednak bym nie wypił.
3.3 Aroma: Medium-high hops, alcohol. Medium moonshine, medium-light licorice. Appearance: Good legs, Brilliant, dark copper body. No head. Flavour: High "zoute drops", salty licorice, resin. Very high bitterness, Medium-high spiciness. Medium-dry finish with lingering burn, licorice Mouthfeel: Full bodied, no carbonation, high warming burn on the tongue, later heating the belly. Overall: The burn is strong, obviously from the alcohol, but it makes the beer difficult to enjoy. I understand that the type of beer this is acceptable. The beer can almost be a strong sambuca with hops. Although it is an experience, it is not something I will recommend. 50 ml share of a 375 ml bottle. Thanks Bradley and Rob for joining the share. 34C. Experimental Beer 22A. Double IPA
3.5 Sample @ Brewdog, helsinki. Pours dark amber and clear. no carbonation nor head. Aroma is almost overkill with lots of alcohol, HOPS!, petrol, raisins.wonderful aroma! Flavour is quite similar, ,thick, and spicy, warming, spectacular
1.4 Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer. RAZ trafiłem na naprawdę dobre. Poza tym tylko i wyłącznie alkoholowo-piołunowa rzeźnia. Ehh.
2.8 [9/27/16] Bottle sample at Brewdog in Brussels. Nice deep reddish amber. Aroma of hops, piney, a bit stale, caramelly malt, and some alcohol (but doesn’t smell like 41%). Flavor is very boozy (duh…) with sweet caramelly malt, and very bitter hops. Oily syrupy mouthfeel. Extreme and overpowering (burns my lips), but better than expected.
3.5 Ciemnobursztynowe, praktycznie bez piany, bardzo oleiste, w aromacie alkohol, karmel, w smaku słodko-alkoholwe, likierowate, bardzo mocno wyczuwalny alkohol. To na pewno jeszcze piwo?
4.3 Dark amber copper with no head. Strong aroma sweet alcohol and wood barrel. Very strong sweet whiskey like taste of the barrel wood. Not a coventional beer but defently fun to try.
2.1 Ocotber 1, 2015. Bottle at SBWF. Clear amber with no head. Aroma is sweet and boozy with caramel, peach, figs, prunes, some hoppy grapefruit and pine notes. Taste is very sweet, malty, medium bitter and very boozy. Harsh alcohol finish with astringent bitterness, sweet caramel, peach and dried fruits. Full bodied, oily texture. Sharp and boozy.
2.7 Sampled at RBWG Tampa. Thanks to whoever shared this! Copper pour with a tiny white head. Nose is pretty hot, as expected. Some tropical fruit character peaks though - orange and a bit of grapefruit. Donut. Similar flavor. Dominated by booze with slight accents of peppery, earthy hop. Some sweet caramelized orange. Full body, oily.
3.3 Thick caramel color with no foam at all and thick viscous marks in the glass. Sweet, hoppy, caramel, thick alcohol nose. This smells like hop liqueur. Thick raisin sweet alcoholic taste with a light sting. Too much hops and alcohol and diabetes. Bitter tart aftertaste. This beer is an interesting experiment, but bring a lot of friends if you open a bottle, you don’t need a lot of this beer.
3.7 BrewDog Warszawa, 31.07.2016. W aromacie alkohol i silny akcent rafineryjny występujący w wielu ipach lecz mi nieodmiennie kojarzący się z Big Worster. Intensywnie słodko - gorzkie, esencjonalnie rafineryjne. Szorstkie i zawiesiste. Bardzo, bardzo gęste. Bardzo dużo ipy w ipie czyli wręcz esencja ipy.
2.7 25ml sample at Brewdog Dundee. Wednesday afternoon and the bartender rolled her eyes when I ordered. Ha. Bottle had a wine-saver style cork in it and had already been opened, not that it gets points off for that. Pours an oily, clear, caramel brown with not the faintest sign of any head and heavy legs like a scotch. Nose is just booze really, more cheap Irish whiskey than anything else, honey too, a bit musky - like overdone melon, plenty of pine too. Flavor has... WOOO.... hot booze. HAHAHA. Wow, rocket fuel. Very harsh, caramel, honey, lots of pine, industrial too. Very hard on the palate and hot all the way down. Yowzers. Nothing about this reads beer, this is a liqueur, plain and simple. Shouldn’t be rateable.
2.7 Light nutbrown with no head. Draws curtains like a cognac in the glass. Aroma has tons og alcohol but also intense aroma of raisins and plumbs. I sensed hoppiness at first but the alcohol quickly tool over and now its all I can smell. The taste is extreme. Lots of sweetness and lots of salty liqourice taste. Leaves a burn. Hardcore stuff. But actually not bad. Kind of like a hardcore bitter like Fernet Branca.
2.8 Bottle at brewdog factory. Dark amber colour like a whiskey. No head at all. Templomos. Nose is strong sweetness wih booze. Taste is sweet, high alcohol, some acetone. Feels like a low qualtiy whiskey. Scores are kinda random cuz its totally not a beer.
3.4 Taster at Oluhuone Kaisla. Aroma of honey, pine needles, wood floor, very pretty. Pours flat dark ruby, looks like a good Islay. Strong booze on the tongue, salty and burning. Stinging aggressive palate. Just smell it and look at it, but don’t try to drink...
4.0 Wow!! Strongest beer I’ve ever tasted. 25ml measure, 41% Vol. Needs to be sipped. Strong smell of alcohol. Dark ruby hue. Smooth, strong taste on alcohol, followed by flavours of hops and caramel tones.
3.8 Plava kas ir degvinaa izmerceeta. Sit cauri pelaski. Maigs salds ar mini gaaziiti. Rugts. Salmi un siens ievaariits katla. Nu kaa alu jau verteet gruuti, bet kaa visiitis 10/10
3.6 Received a small sample at Mitra Vismarkt, Groningen. Appearance: clear golden, slightly orangey, with no head nor carbonation visible. The liquid is dense and looks quite viscous. Aroma: very strong hop notes. Some grapefruit and mango but mainly hop resin. Even some whisky character due to the alcohol content. Taste: medium sweetness and high bitterness. Feels quite salty. Some malts, but maily hop resins with some indistinguishable fruits very far away. Finish is very longlasting. Palate: full bodied, dense oily texture and no carbonation. If you read this Bas: Thanks a lot!
3.9 Pours like a nice single malt. Dark amber and clear. Obviously no carbonation nor head. Aroma is wonderful. Incredibly hoppy, lots of booze, petrol, so much resin, really burns after long inhalation. I love the aroma. Flavour is rather mild at first, thick, really spicy, nicely warming, obviously alcoholic but surprisingly not too much, super rich, hoppy and warming finish. Great beer! Was surprisingly like an IPA.
3.5 Pours a nice light bright amber color. Aromas of HOPS, and some other hints. Flavor is a jet fuel, bittersweet, malty, and hoppy as hell. God I love this beer.
3.3 No head, no lacing, copper colour, aroma of whiskey with a little addition of hops, strong alcohol taste, flat. Not everyday you can try a 41% of alcohol beer, but it’s worth it.
3.5 Batch 91 o 911? Best before 14/01/21, aperta il 24 aprile 2016.
3.5 This flat "beer" pours a clear, golden and incredibly viscous body with no head. The aroma is intense and very hoppy, with heavy notes of tropical fruits and caramel. The flavour is burning alcoholic, ridiculously hoppy and immensely malty: this is pure IPA concentrate! Also some hints of herbs. The taste is harsh bitter and heavy sweet, and the boozy aftertaste lasts until the next morning. The body is fuller than full and the texture is thicker than crude oil. This is a crazy, fun and absurd brew, but not exactly pleasant. Compared to e.g. Tactical Nuclear Penguin this is just a novelty.
