BrewDog / Stone / Magic Rock Magic Stone Dog

bottle & keg, special

A hoppy menage a trois of epic proportions, Magic Stone Dog is a rustic farmhouse pale ale mash up. Brewed in collaboration with Greg Koch (Stone) and Rich and Stu (Magic Rock) just before our AGM, Magic Stone Dog has the best qualities of a saison and a pale ale, combined.

The nose has a citrus punch straight from the US West Coast, boasting zest, pineapple and orange notes, offset against a big spicy clove warmth courtesy of the saison yeast.

This continues into the flavour, where the best of both worlds combine - orange, spice, a touch
of lemony tartness - and sit alongside a thirst- quenching dryness and refreshing effervescence.

This bright, zesty, subtly tart, Belgian-inspired brew is the perfect beer to enjoy during the Indian summer we all know is definitely coming. Definitely. For sure.

Malts:
Extra Pale Amber Wheat Rye Oats

Hops:
Amarillo Simcoe

Twist:

3.8 bottle at home. Pours clear golden with a steady white head and nice fine carbonation. Grassy and zesty aromas, and some pils alike malt characteristics. Medium body with a punchy almost sour-like beginning with the bitterness kicking in as from the mid and endng up quite dry. A nice thrist quencher. The taste is citrussy and malty again. Nice easy going ale.
2.4 0.33L bottle. Lightly cloudy golden body with white foam. Caramel lemonade aroma. Little wheat, cereal, corn, peanut, alcohol flavors. Nothing special. Very booring bitterness.
Tynn/medium konsistens
3.5 Fra fat på Kooperativen sammen med Einar mars-15: gylden med filmskum. Dufter godt av sitron, appelsin, nellik, peppermix og de typiske stalltonene fra belgisk gjær. Lett besk i smaken sammen med (over)modne blidappelsiner. Helhetsinntrykket virker litt ufokusert, men så beskrives den jo som en hybrid.
3.8 Приятное пиво легко пьётся. Во вкусе - специи. Оригинальное оформление бутылки.
3.3 Clpudy golden body, white head. Aroma had refreshing saisony fruity hoppiness. Flavour has quite addition of belgian yeast and flours.
3.3 Tap at Hathor. Orange, cloudy with medium head. Clean bready malt nose, some spicy yeast, lemon. Flavor is rather plain, citrus, a bit yeasty, biscuit malt. A rather average Belgian blonde.
3.5 Bottle. Slightly cloudy color, white head. Aromatic, spicy aroma with hops and toast. Spicy, slightly chalky flavor with lemon peel and bready notes. Medium-full body, high carbonation. Tends more towards saison than pale ale. Nice.
3.2 Bottle at Amsterdam Cafe Pub, Cordoba, Spain, 2.3.2015. Hazy blond, white head. Dusty then floral aroma, with a little peppercorn. Yeasty bitterness in the mouth, that becomes quite mild, followed by some English hops. Very carbonated, full body, abrupt finish.

3.7 Bottle. Golden Body with white head. Aroma is malts, pepper, spice and hops. Taste is also spicy with some caramel malts and hints of pines and fruits. Aftertaste is hoppy with hints of herbs. Nice and refreshing one.
3.4 Bottle shared. Slight hazy golden with big fluffy white head that disappears very fast. Lots of spices with white pepper, cloves, nutmeg. Rye bread, dough, fresh white bread. Herbal hoppy finish. Quite dry, light sweet and light bitter towards the finish. Medium bodied.
3.5 Nu har jag inte druckit speciellt mycket öl på sistone så risken är stor för glädjetickningar. I vilket fall så tyckte jag om det här, ölen var frisk och smakfull med toner av belgien och belgien. Slutsats; gott skit!
3.1 Pours cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma is grapefruity and citrusy. Bitter, peachy and citrusy. Bitter and crisp hoppy into a fruity finish. More of a saison than a pale ale though. Not good enough.
3.9 the aroma is malty and herbal with shades of farm and straw... the taste is malty and fruity with notes of yeast, grasses and some spices... slight hoppy bitterness... spicy dry aftertaste with some sourness... tastes like saison...
2.9 Nice hoppy aroma but it falls through on the flavor. Kinda flat and uninteresting. Some slight caramelmalts and belgian influences. - on tap at samfundet trondheim
