BrewDog Tactical Nuclear Penguin

BrewDog Tactical Nuclear Penguin

Brewdog paradox which was aged for 9 months in a speyside cask then 9 months in a smokehead cask, then taken to an icecream factory and frozen over the course of 2 weeks, then the non frozen liquid was drained off. Came out at 32% and at time of release was the strongest beer in the world.

2.8 Lot of different tastes - too much and too different - we are more on a Porto than on a beer. Not deserve to pay the high price but still a must to taste to train.
2.3 375 bottle at home. Pours clear dark brown, with minimal head. Aroma: boozy barrel, sweet, roasty malts molasses, sherry, medicinal. Taste: malty, dried fruits, hint of smoke, hint of coffee, wood, vanilla - quite a bit going on but all dominated by huge boozy flavours & alcohol burn. Full bodied, hardly any carb, thick oily mouthfeel. Not for me
3.7 Bottle looks really good. Beer in the glass dark brown, no head. Intense note of alcohol. Starts with a heavy burning, strong, strong alcohol, also a lot of woody notes. Complex malty. Finish only with burning alcohol. Very very heavy beer...
3.1 Bottle pours out dark brown with no head. Nose is big booze barrel heat pretty much nothing good. Taste is just as bad o man this is all heat.
3.0 Gathering @Robert's place Zuidhorn, small bottle, pous brown/caramel with no head at all. soft, alcoholic, some sharp notesm some licorice,'drop', alcoholic, well not that great as expected.
3.8 110ml bottle. Pours clear dark ruby red-brown, small tan head as ring. Aroma is boozy, sweet, molasses, roasty, vanilla. Taste is boozy, malty, liquour, bit smoky, hoppy. Salty in aftertaste. Full body, almost still. Freaky, but interesting. I like it.
3.7 Pours black with no head. Aroma is very chocolatey. Flavour is also thick chocolate but with a lot of alcohol burn.
4.0 03-10-18 110ml bottle shared. Bought at Brewdog Shoreditch, London. Heavy shit! Nose of a typical Imp. Stout. Aroma of dark sweet malts, coffee, dark chocolate. Then heavy boozy but soft. Great drink/Absacker
4.0 I was expecting cloying malt and no balance and was pleasantly surprised by the balance. It's a little like being punched in the sinuses at first. But I enjoyed it. Next time I'm drinking this with whiskey stones to keep it cold so I can sup and enjoy it - when it warmed to room temperature it was just unpleasant.
4.2 Pours thick and reddy brown with no head, Aroma is sherry brandy. Tastes very strong, raisin, brandy/sherry, oily, slimy, warming and complex as hell! It’s more of a liqueur than a beer obviously but really very tasty,
3.0 Pours deep black , medicinal aroma and taste . Be ready for a deep burn on the back of the throat !
3.7 Bottle 11cl. Pours deep dark with no head. Flat carbonation. Strong nose and body. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee and alcohol. Hints of vanilla maybe. Taste is strong, full body, heavy on the dark side, coffee, Porto. It's an experience.
3.4 You can’t rate this as a beer , pure alcohol aroma, the taste is a brandy like alcohol hit, with some big bitterness on the finish
2.4 11 cl bottle. Pours clear mahogany red color with no head. Aroma has wood and strong boozy sting, some licorice notes. Flavor is pretty much Salmari but feels way more boozier and unpleasant, strong salmiac and subtle saltiness, strong alcohol burn on the finish. Not a beer, not pleasant, not worth it. The aroma is okay though, I'll give it that much. 7432
3.6 11cl bottle at home. Pours a dark mahogany with a thin beige head which dissipates instantly. Aroma of red wine, alcohol, liquorice, dark malt, vanilla, oak, butterscotch. Taste is very sweet, low bitter, low dry but very boozy finish. Notes of dark malt, roasted malt, caramel, liquorice, dark ripe fruit, alcohol, thyme, candy sugar, cough syrup, whisky liquor. Texture is thick, full bodied with low carbonation
4.0 Very good very strong
3.4 11cl bottle at home, split with my housemate. Appearance: chestnut brown with no head. Marangoni effect, or tears of wine, are clearly visible. Aroma: alcohol, butterscotch, slight kahlua, some (dried) fruits. Taste: high sweetness, pretty high bitterness and intense minerality/saltiness. Notes of caramel, lots of licorice, some hops and haagse hopjes. Really salty. Palate: full bodied, rather viscous and sticky texture and soft carbonation. Obviously very boozy. Quite tingly on the tongue, due to alcohol content. Hard to compare and rate. Not very beer like, but quite appreciable and drinkable as long as you sip slowly.
3.9 110 bottle from rewdog online shop. Well, this is no ordinary beer! Clear dark, virtually no head, big alcool "jambe' on the glass. Spectacular aroma of malted grain and liquirice, wonderfull, really. First sip is a guaranteed wow scream with a strage expression on the face! Taste is dark roasted malts, liquirice, is stiky, boozy. It's still a beer taste but it's really strong, thats a concentrated stout, like tomato concentrate is for tomato sauce. Nice experience, but 110 is enough for a long while...
3.1 110ml bottle. Pours a dark copper colour with a thin yellowy head instantly disappearing. Aroma: alcohol, liquorice, oak, cocoa, malty. Taste: roasted malt, liquorice, dark fruit, oak, huge alcohol burn, dark chocolate. Thick viscous body, very little carbonation. An interesting experiment ultimately resulting in a gimmicky beer, simply way too strong to actually enjoy.
1.7 Well the nose is liquorice and lots of sweet tones. Appearance is very nice. Taste is Turkish pepper and not agreeable. Palate is also not very good. Well impressive that you can make this kind of beverage but it is not beer at all.
3.2 Bottle, 110ml. Thanks ration. Pours clear deep amber, no head. Malts, cocoa, bread, alcohol in the aroma. Strong roasted malts, peat, alcohol flavour.
3.4 290717. Bottle at Sarpas cabin (brewdog shop). Pours deep amber with almost no head. Aroma alcohol, raisins, ripe fruit. Burning alcohol on the tongue. Not very beery. Not Bad.
1.9 Pours a copper brown with no real head. Nose does have some eisbock or barleywine aquavit mix qualities. But really, this is super boozy and not in a pleasant way. Taste is a lot worse.. ultra boozy and just a huge mess. I can appreciate the experiment but the taste is just not pleasant at all. I enjoyed the previous batch a bit more. This is pretty much undrinkable...
2.7 Thanks to erzengel for sharing!! Pours a cola color without a head. The smell is very hot and boozey with plenty of peat and roast. The taste also burns with the same roasted malt, and dry peatiness coming through. Medium in body and without carbonation. Not my thing at all - it’s like drinking vodka out of an ashtray.
2.6 Intense thick roasted peated nose. Great round, no carbonation. The beer starts intense and thick, toffee, peated malt, very concentrated and hard to drink. Viscous. Intense and long roasted dried thick dark peated aftertaste, no depth, just thick, not too much alcohol, a bit sweetish, strange but interesting. But way too less depth.
3.5 Torfiger Geruch. Intensiver rauchiger Beginn, in dem die Süße nur eine Nebensache darstellt. Stark alkoholisch, langer Nachhall. Gut. 10/11/10/11/0/11
3.5 Sampled from 0.33 l bottle. Clear, dark brownish amber, no head. Very intense, peaty, slightly sweetish-malty aroma of mainly peat, some caramel and hints of vanilla. Extremely intense, malty and very peaty taste of massive peat, caramel and some vanilla, followed by a long, very peaty and warming-alcoholic finish. Full body, oily mouthfeel, flat. Really intense stuff, not bad actually, quite enjoyable, couldn’t drink more than a few sips though.
3.3 Bottle shared with Zlotta and Koelschtrinker. Dunkel orange braunes Bier. Geruch ist alkoholisch, kräftig malzig, reifes Obst, holzig, Kaffee. Geschmack ist brennend alkoholisch, Melasse, toffee, Lakritze, brennend alkoholisch im Abgang.
2.0 Backlog: Aroma is sweet and spicey from alcohol. Taste is thick tar, smokey notes, chunks of wood and a burning alcohol sensation. Not my jam.
3.6 Bottle shared by Björn thanks. No head and clear brown color. Big roasted dark malty aroma. Very intense dark roasted malty taste.
