BrewDog The Physics

BrewDog The Physics

Cask & Bottled;

A historically accurate beer based on the recipe devised on the 8th of February 2007.

Recreated using the finest coloured malts which provide the complex sweet malt character which initially arouses the senses. Like a fine cheese cake the biscuit base has a smooth and creamy layer that both satisfies and entices. Culminating with a delicate fruit topping of blackcurrant and tinges of citrus to refresh the participant, complimented fully by the crisp dry bitter finish.

3.5 Amber kleurig bier met een kleine crème kleurige schuimkraag. Aroma: zoet, aardbei, moutig, hop. Smaak: zoet, moutig, karamel, fruitig.
3.1 Keg at BD Soho, 11/04/17. Rich mahogany to chestnut brown with a decent beige head. Nose is toffee, biscuit, light spice, fruit rinds. Taste comprises biscuit crumble, toffee, hint of orange marmalade, earthy, light spice. Medium bodied, prickly carbonation, drying close with a moderately bitter edge. Average fayre ... way over carbonated which knocked this one down a few marks for me.
3.1 Keg at Brewdog Birmingham; clear deep copper pour with a thin light tan head, aroma has sweet red fruits and caramel action, taste has hint of smoke, a bit of fruit, some smoke, ok.
3.3 Bottle. Dark brown body with tan fast disappearing head. Aroma is nice malty with dark caramel and some dark cakes. Taste is slight roasted malts some herbs and hints of fruitzs. Aftertaste is nice bitter slightly balanced by some malty sweetness.
3.8 Keg at Brewdog Leicester. Bit of a throwback this: standard, well delivered red ale. Nutty, tangy, good medium sized hopping. Core.
3.9 33cl. Bottle. Pours dark amber with tan head. Aroma pine, citrus, caramel, some chocolate. Taste caramel malty sweets, nice citrus bitter, even some sour. Mouthfeel dryish. Great brew.
3.6 330ml bottle rebrewed for AGM. Clear deep dark amber brown colour with a small beige head. Aroma: caramel malts, berry fruits. Taste: sweet malts, caramel, toffee, biscuit, berries, light bitterness in the finish. Medium body, good carbonation bit of a bubbly mouthfeel. Not bad actually, think 5AM Saint is better.
3.4 Keg at Brewdog Soho. A dark reddy brown coloured pour with a lasting loose beige head. Aroma is subdued, nutty malts, tangy red berries, little rustic component. Flavour is composed of mellow brown malts, brown bread, liquorice, hint of pine,. Palate is semi sweet frothy and easy going. Lingering liquorice and black sugars.
3.6 Rebrewed for the AGM, it looks ok, but has too much of a malt aroma and taste for me. Very different to what brewdog are putting out today . Re rated from a bottle, with a clean palate, some nice sharp fruit, and pine bitterness on the finish
3.2 Rebrewed for AGM weekend. Pours deep ruby/amber, tan lacy head. A little overcarbonated for me. Sweet malty taste, quite dry, a bit thin. Ok. This can go back to its retirement home.
3.5 Bottle. Amber in colour. Sweet malty (biscuity toasty malts, bready, caramel, toffee). Fruity (mild citrus, berries). Grassy herbal & slightly spicy hops. Sweet malty & fruity throughout. Drying hop in the finish. Liked this a lot. Very tasty. (2009-02)
3.4 Pours a nice dark reddish amber color. Aromas of malts, and some other hints, maybe fruit, maybe caramel, and hops. Flavor is a bitter, malty, and hoppy with a nice dry finish.
3.5 Tried on cask. Pours copper, nose is light pine, toffee, taste is fruity, creamy, sweet.
3.2 Scotland: At Fiddlers restraunt Loch Ness. This is a great amber with lots of springy zip.
2.8 5.0% deep amber with a good head, fruity hop aroma, fruity, hoppy bitter taste, better than their Punk IPA.
2.9 bottle, past its prime. fruity amber beer. caramel maltiness, fruit forward flavor. body was flat but given bottle was old. Im sure fresh it would have been way better
3.9 Got to try this on a trip to Oxford a while back. I’ve had this in the bottle and on cask is a whole other story. It blows the bottle away in every aspect. A - dark amber, light, large bubbled head that led to a very nice lacing. S - much more than I was expecting. Hops and honey, slightly roasted malt and citrus T - so much hoppier than I was expecting! Nice citrus hops as well as a decent biscuity malt profile, very well balanced. M&D - So easy to drink as most cask ales are with it’s low carbonation and slightly higher temperature. The intense Flavor (at least for a bitter) is the only thing that kept this beer in my glass for very long. almost feel like the rating is unfair as this is hard to find on cask in the UK much less anywhere else.
3.1 A-- Poured and orange reddish color and very cloudy once it settled. No real head or lacing, a little bit of a white film on the top of the beer and not much else. Shows no real carbonation on this at all. S-- Floral smell with pine and lemon. Also a good sized malt background in this with a little bit of a biscuit sweetness to it. T-- Malt biscuit taste upfront followed by the floral, pine, and citrus tastes. M-- No carbonation, fairly thick and coats my mouth. Feels a lot more thicker than it should. More citrus than I thought. Get a lot of lemon in this in the aftertaste. Once it warms up it does have a bit of sour in it. D-- Was quite good for being WAY out of date. Was surprised how much citrus was still in this and that it seems to want to be a DIPA more than an ESB. Low ABV means very sessionable but I think the negative is that it gets samey after it warms up and kills taste buds. Also has a bit of soap quality in the finish when it warms. Solid none the less.
3.9 Overall, I think this more of an Amber but, regardless of style a tasty and interesting brew. Worth seeking out.
2.6 a decent amber ale, completely overshadowed by 5am saint however, not surprised that this one disappeared. overall it was weaker in all departments and 5am was the natural successor
3.6 330ml bottle pours amber in color with a finger of white head that leaves very little lacing behind. Aroma is caramel malts with some light fruits and a splashing of hops. Taste is caramel malty sweetness with citrus and cereal grains. Body is quite substantial for the ABV and carbonation was more than adequate. Above average for the style and definitely worth a try.
2.1 Thanks to BVery Amber pour with a thin head aroma of caramel and medium maltiness. flavour of dusty biscuity malt, bleh. Not much too it.
2.6 Date: February 19, 2012 Mode: Bottle Source: Bluemax via BVery Description: Translucent light orange with minimal head. Aroma is caramel, malt and biscuit. Taste is malt and water, not very good.
3.2 Bottle. Dirty orange pour. Dusty biscuity aroma and flavor. Tastes a bit old - and somewhat uninspired. It’s okay - but just okay.
3.2 Many times in bottle and most recently at the White Horse on Cask (March 2011). It pours amber, with a decent, fluffy off-white head. The nose is caramel malt, citrus fruits, grass and some floral. The taste is sweet caramel, toasted malt, biscuit, grass, earth and some citrus, with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Ok, but not up to the other Brewdog offerings.
3.5 Tasted this at the Paisley Beer Festival in April 2007. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear copper red in colour with a thin white head. Rich fruity aroma laced with caramel. Pale malts give a fiery chewy base of moist maltloaf with rich berry fruits and a hint of butterscotch. Peppery hop resins add a bitter bite to the aftertaste. Finish is dry and woody with tart redcurrant fruit evident. A powerful ruby ale and tastes stronger than the 5% suggests. Well recommended.
3.0 750ml bottle from Pick’s poured into an English Pint. Bottle expired 6/6/2009. Pours a cloudy dark amber with a small bit of white head. Aroma of citrus and some sort of berry. Taste is very lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Taste of biscuit malt and blueberry. Light bodied with a thin texture, flat carbonation and not much of a finish. Overall, not bad for my first Brewdog. Something I’m glad I tried but won’t be drinking again.
3.2 Nice, fat white head on a crimson brew. Intense and complicated aroma. Some oak notes. Great taste. Not as good as some other red/amber ales. Nice caramel and roasted malty goodness. Feels thicker than 5%. Not a bad thing, just not expected. The malt sticks around with a citus finish. Good beer. I rarely buy beer twice (there’s just too many to try!), and this one of those. Glad I tried it, liked it, but not so much that I’d have it again.
3.3 Süßer, honigartiger ausbalancierter Geruch, etwas fruchtig. Sehr hopfiger Antrunk, leicht süßer Hopfen mit entsprechender Bittereinheit, dies wirkt sehr interessant. Vollmundig, im Nachgeschmack bitter-würzig, langer hopfiger Abgang. Test vom 29.5.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: -,11,10,12,9,11 - 10,88
2.7 22nd October 2007 Warning! Early amateur rating! Starts with crisp malts but then blooms in to quite a bitter-hop beer. Subtle smoky note. Okay.
