The constant, unrelenting noise becomes something purer than sound – reverberating through every part of you as the eyes rush to take in the pixelated arcade action. It’s all-pervading. Small silver coins are your life-blood, Player 1.
Our most involved beer, Tokyo* is an Imperial Stout brewed with copious amounts of speciality malts, jasmine and cranberries, dry-hopped with a bucket-load of our favourite hops and then carefully aged on toasted French oak chips.
It’s all about moderation. Everything in moderation, Player 1. What logically follows is that you must from time to time, have excess. This beer is for those times.

4.3Una pasada de stout
4.0Pours opaque coffee with a thin buff head. Aroma features sharp boozy, roast malt, and earthy tones. Flavor provides roast malt, boozy, spice, earthy and caramel notes. Texture offers god body and lively fizz. Oh Tokyo!
3.2A 330ml bottle with a best before date of 29th January 2026. Poured into a snifter glass. It was black in colour with a thin brown head that dissipated fairly quickly and left only sparse lacing. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, licorice, dark malt, light char, oak, hints of dark fruit. Tastes sweet, caramel, syrupy, licorice, chocolate, dark fruit, raisin, prunes, cranberry and alcohol. Syrupy, full bodied with soft carbonation. As it warmed to a more Imperial Stout ‘ideal’ temperature, it actually became too sweet and syrupy for my liking. I actually enjoyed it more when the cold numbed and toned it down a bit. The combination of sweet and syrupy was just too much for me even just sipping, as there wasn’t enough roastiness to balance it.
4.2Pychota,czuc alko ale slodkawo.nie ma co gadac.39zl/0.25l,dobry zbeer.
3.9W aromacie sos sojowy, czekolada, dym tytoniowy. Barwa bardzo ciemnobrązowa, piana ładna. W smaku półsłodkie, dosyć gęste, czerwone owoce, zostawiają na finiszu nawet taki kwaskowy posmak. Ciekawe piwo, niebanalne.
4.7non è un imperial ma una galactic
3.912 ounce bottle
The 18% version, with a few years on it, still packs a potent punch almost akin to a port. If you're looking for an intense beer to finish off the evening or enjoy over the course of a few hours then this compares to World Wide Stout or other giant ABV releases. Best of all it should continue to cellar well for a bit longer.
AROMA / APPEARANCE
Vinous coffee, red wine, and port stick in the air like a strange cocktail. The core dark fruits glue together the surprisingly fluid base. That said it is still thick and oily with clingy icy legs.
FLAVOR / PALATE
The texture of a warm port fills the mouth with heat, black coffee, and plums. The dense core crawls its way over the tongue to a creamy full bodied finish. The warmth starts off somewhat mild but eventually radiates outwards like the 18% it is. Overall I would save stuff like this for special occasions but it definitely has carved out a niche in the world of imperial stouts.

4.3Pours a deep jet black with little head. Aromas are of liqourice, ethanol, coffee, cacao, molasses and dark roasted malt. Mouthfeel is viscous and every sip feels like a bottle of delicious beer. Taste is huge on the liqourice and ethanol, however there is no alcohol burn. There is also plenty of coffee, cacao and molasses with a touch of toffee as well. All of this is over a huge backbone of dark roasted malt. Aftertaste seems to never end - just the way I like it. ABV is hidden exceptionally well. Lovely beer!
5.0This is the best beer in the world ever! It is very much a treat beer, and certainly not for every day consumption, but that just heightens the experience! Be warned, this is a strong beer, do not drink this like a normal beer. It is to be enjoyed, not downed. However, when enjoying it, oh boy! What a treat!! The flavours are beyond explanation, and needs to be experienced to be understood. Drunk from a teku glass, you will fully submerge all your senses in this opaque black aromatic master class!
4.3Bouteille partagée (oufti). Liquide noir, petite mousse.
Alcoholwarmte. M: Volmondig, sticky en lichte carbonatie.
4.0Black. Brown head, two fingers, big bubbles, decent retention. Difficult to see the carbonation through the darkness. Texture between oily and creamy with no fizz, somewhat unctuous. Aroma is chocolate, chocolate liqueur, molasses, sugar, dried fruits, hints of raisins, liquor. Taste is chocolate, chocolate liqueur, molasses, vanilla, maple syrup, caramel syrup, dried fruits, hints of raisins, sugar, liquor at the finish. Good sweetness. Soft boozy notes at the end with a little bit of bitterness. Bittersweet aftertaste with hot notes. This ages really well. I can't find the cranberry or the jasmine but I do not mind because this is one hell of a beer. I drunk 15 cl., and then I couldn't stay there, looking at the bottle. So I drunk the whole bottle and I loved it.
4.4Pure black beer with a fine mocha-colored foam head that quickly sinks into a fine layer. Coffee, chocolate, liquorice, dark fruit, something sweet. Abv is very well tucked away. Drinks away way too easily. Delicious naughty.
4.0Backlog. Pitch black with the smallest of tan heads. One of the best. Small sips, fruits, dark treacle, liquorice and strong hops
4.3Ouch!
Koffie, chocolade, drop, donker fruit, iets zoetig. Abv zit heel goed weggestopt. Drinkt véél te makkelijk weg. Heerlijke stout.
4.0Bottle, BB 31/11/2009. Black color with soapy beige head. Aroma is soy sauce, cocoa, chocolate. Taste is soy sauce, chocolate, liquorice, quite dry. Oily mouthfeel, low. Very nice!
2.91 finger dark beige head.
Pitch black beer.
Aroma is chocolate, burnt wood, heavy bourbon, booze soaked raisins, rum, acidic glue and slight toffee. Mostly booze though.
Taste is melted milk chocolate, vanilla, a slight berry-like sweetness, cinnamon, heavy spicey and glue here aswell with a BIG, boozy finish accompanied by an (obviously) very warming heat.
Mouthfeel is thick and a bit oily. Slightly sticky. Medium bitterness. Medium-low carbonation. Overly sweet and overly boozy. I know it's to be expected but it's quite the mess honestly..
Overall: Have been resting this for a good while now and expected greatness but was severly dissappointed. I was relieved when the taste (at first) had some interesting going on for it but that quickly took a turn for the worse when it was mostly booze combined with a syrupy sweetness. Not my shit but not all bad either. It could have been executed better and I'm glad that I atleast let this rest for a while before drinking it though.
4.7Aroma røsted malt mørke frukter kaffe lakris litt aceton i starten, blir borte når den får høyere temp. Utseende Sort med brunt skum. Smak røsted malt kaffe melkesjokolade karamell lakris alkohol noe frukt. Kraftig smaksrik fyldig og noe bitter. Flaske kjøpt på Vinmonopolet Jekta, 33cl 16,5% BF180927
0.5It has nothing to do with Tokyo. no Japanese would ever approve this chargrilled molasses tasting hogwash.
3.433cl bottle at home, bought at Van Erp Dranken Groningen, split with Gyhallmanti and A3aan_uit. Appearance: pitch black with medium sized beige head. Aroma: alcohol, dark roasted malts, cacao, quite savory. Maybe slightly silty. Taste: high sweetness and high bitterness. Notes of dark malts, espresso, alcohol and some licorice root. Maybe slightly spicy as well. Palate: full bodied, oily and slightly sticky texture and soft carbonation. Overall: this is some intense stuff. Very alcoholic, strong in taste and unfortunately expensive. Not worth the price. Would be nice for half of the price. It is as if you would mix an imperial stout with a shot of Jägermeister. Too much of everything
3.533cl bottle split with SimonBlok and a3aan_uit. Pours pitch black colour with a thin brown head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, dark malt, alcohol. Taste is full sweet, moderate bitter with a medium dry finish. Notes of liquorice root, strong alcohol burn, candy sugar, berries, something similar to jägermeister. Texture is oily, full bodied with soft carbonation.
3.933cl courtesy of Simonblok, with Gyhallmanti. This a serious beer, not a leisurely drink. This is heavy. Dry tasting with a lot of strong elements of woody tannins, zoethout and dark malt. This beer is THICC. Definitely a dessert beer!
