A foundation of caramel malt is buttressed by a raucously resinous bitterness, as the rioting backdrop of citrus and tropical fruit flow in waves from those twin titans of the US – Centennial and Amarillo.
And it also happens to be gluten free.
Vagabond Pale Ale is proof that the focal point of beers such as these should be flavour, rather than merely conforming to (or hiding behind) an ideal. It shows, once and for all, that a lack of this single element does not equate to a lack of taste, or body.

4.0Can from Dog Tap Brisbane on April 2020. I have had my fair share of gluten free beers overs the years, some good and some not so good but nothing that compares to this one. Looks solid when poured into the glass and has a glossy copper colour. Slightly sweet with a good dose of malt throughout.
3.8Pours an amber colour ale with a white frothy head
Notes of citrus fruits and caramel hops
2.8Pale ale / lager-ish, rien d’exceptionnel
3.5Gewoon prima
3.1Bottiglia.
2.9Not a bad drink, gluten free. Ok
3.623 November 2019. At Uncle Babe's Burger Bar, Ghent. Cheers to Maarten!
Pours hazy orange with a slowly thinning, frothy, tan head. Aroma of biscuit, pink grapefruit, ripe mandarin, apple peel, mango, lychee. Taste has bitter gapefruit juice & mango, sweet mandarin, lychee on biscuity maltiness with yeasty & piney accents. Dry, piney hoppy finish, grapefruity, lingering ripe mango & biscuit. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Tasty malt-fueled APA.
3.0Orange and hazy with a one finger wide head.
Bitter smell of grapefruit and bitter almonds: Fruity, citric taste with an agreeable amount of bitterness and a gingerbread note. Low carbonation.
One of the better gluten-free beers.
3.5A copper colour with a white head citrusy grapefruit aroma, medium bodied, slightly bitter, grapefruit, zesty with hints of caramel
3.2Sampled from the tap at Brew Dog Barcelona. Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has musty bread and wet grass with a bit of citrus rind underlying. Flavor has citrus rind and grass with earthy grains and a bread backbone.
2.8Bottle 0.33L
Hazy copper body with an average, frothy, off-white head, mostly diminishing with some lacing, though.
Moderate-to-heavy hoppy (grapefruit, flowers) and light malty (caramel) aroma with notes of fruits.
Moderate bitter and light-to-moderate acidic flavour; average-lasting bitter finish.
Light-to-medium body with oily texture; soft carbonation.
3.1Aroma: Dusty fruity hops with citrus.
Flavour: Dry fruity bitter with fruity sweetness and tangy notes. Aftertaste is dry bitter and tangy.
Colour: Amber with an offwhite head.

3.90,33 bottle. Ízre kicsit inkább citrus-citromos-savas felé hajlik, de gyümölöcs is. Friss, megfelelően keserű is. Érdekes utóíz- valamelyik aroma komlótól, elég füves. Nagyon jó kis APA sör európai mércével.

I drank the gluten-free version, which has the same values, but I didn’t find it separately. The foam is white when loose, the color is a little passion fruit, unfiltered. The smell is extraordinary. I have been drinking APA so fruity, round, with a more intense-than-average scent for a long time. Southern fruit blend, but perfect-I mean smell. Skillful hops! Shaking with half a finger of foam and exciting scents are formed. Moderately carbonated. On the palate, it leans a little more towards citrus-lemon-acid, but it is also a fruit. Fresh, too bitter. Interesting aftertaste - one of the aromas from hops, quite grassy. Very good little APA beer by European standards.
3.2Un peu fade pour une pâle ale
Légèrement âpre
5.0It's also vegan
3.3bottiglia 33 cl, schiuma bianco sporco persistente, colore arancio torbido, al naso malto caramello agrumi frutta tropicale, in bocca caramello pompelmo frutta tropicale, corpo leggero, carbonazione moderata, dolce con amaro moderato. Piacevole, leggera ed equilibrata. c. COOP Tenero 22.09.19
3.1330 ml bottle. Pours a dull copper color with light head. Aromas of dull fruit and toasted malts. Flavors follow same with a good dose of tea. Easy to drink and refreshing.
3.0Lacks body. Nice hops.
3.5330ml bottle share from BrewDog Online, when first released. Deep golden with a white head. Nice piney hop aroma with biscuity malt and some herbal notes. Caramel, grass and aniseed flavours. Good body.
3.4Bottle at Stansted airport. Pours golden color, white head. Aroma of grapefruit. Taste is medium bitter, lightly sweet, grapefruit, orange peel, apricot.
3.5Flora slightly fruity aroma. Flavours gentle malt and some orange perhaps. Nice mouthfeel. Gently bitter. Refreshing.
3.4Kupferfarben, kaum Schaum. Aroma: gerösteter Malz, Zitrus, Grapefruit. Fruchtig. Geschmack: Fruchtig (Zitrus), Karamell, Hauch Kaffee. Nur moderat bitter, insgesamt balanciert und angenehm.
3.6Copper colored with thin foam. Nicely balanced with a sweet, burnt, note. Lingering aftertaste, albeit a bit on the watery side. Gluten is removed post fermentation ie it's not naturally gluten free. Overall a good GF beer.
3.6This bottle is coming from Amstein, trying and judging this product, at home, in Epalinges. The body is copper, clear, normal carbonation, thin and white foam. The malt is a little burnt, dry taste, hop, mineral. It doesn't give the impression to be one of gluten-free, rather pale ale, a bit watery.
3.2Bevuta in bottiglia da 33. Forte presenza di luppolo nell'aroma. Aspetto ambrato, e schiuma poco persistente.

3.4September 7, 2019 - at BrewDog (Camden) - on keg. Gluten-free, eh? Attractive clear amber-gold with a diminishing off-white head. Aroma is pleasantly juicy (citrus) and light, quite fruity with minimal alcohol presence; quite appealing, if a little wan. Taste is a solid pale ale with a little twiggy character vying with the simpler citrus/juice aspect- just okay. Light body, crisp and clean mouthfeel, medium-quite simple finish - a little dry leafy malt and citrus zest in the aftertaste; ultimately pretty damned good for a gluten-free.
4.0Shared bottle pouring clear dark golden with white head. Aroma is very hoppy, resinous, floral. Taste is clear bitter with a form bitter aftertaste. Rather strong carbo. This is quite IPA-ish (finally, after having drunk dozens of Scots beers), nice! No gluten, but surely character.
3.6Cooper color with medium white head. Aroma: caramel, sweet and ripe pomelo, pink grapefruit, pine. Taste: caramel, candies, grapefruit, cantaloupe. Medium body, moderate carbonation, moderate bitterness. Better than I initialy thought.
