BrewDog Vs Weihenstephan India Pale Weizen kicks off a new direction for our collaborations. We took a simple concept (by our standards) and teamed up with the oldest brewery in the world to brew a mash-up beer using the signature styles of both breweries.
India Pale Weizen has classic base hefeweizen aromas and flavours of banana and clove, with distinctive haziness. Layered on top of this is a tapestry of US citrus hop character. India Pale Weizen is a perfect symbiosis of traditional and modern brewing.
Malts: Extra Pale, Wheat, Munich
Hops: Centennial, Simcoe
Twist: Traditional weizen hopped like an IPA

Rica. Grosor de weizen y ligero aroma de simcoe.
2.7Liked the idea of this beer.
But it tastes like a green beer, rough bitterness.
The wiezen quality seems muted and the trad aromas of clove and banana are missing.
Seems the IPA trumped the Weizen.
3.7bottle. Hazy golden with a tall white head. Wheaty background, some yeasty fruity hints and good aromatic hops that add more fruit and a touch of pine needle and grass.
3.4Bottle 33cl. Slightly hazy, yellow gold with a medium white head. Aroma is like weizen beer, malts and a slight yeast touch. The taste is very much like Weihenstephaner, only the aftertaste shows the difference because of the dry hop bitterness.
3.3Drank during the tasting at my home with my friends 22-8-2015. This was the third beer. This one was a disappointment; I had higher expectations. A very interesting brew, but the combination just does not really come out well. Its mainly a weizen, with slight IPA hints in the end. The weizen taste, to top it off, is quite flat and plain.
3.4Piwo srednio dobrze wyglada. Metnosc srednia choc dawalo to piwu jaskrawa poswiate. Aromat pszeniczno ziolowo chmielnu]y. Dominowaly chmiele z US.
3.5Bottle from systembolaget sweden. Short White head. Clear solid yellow color. Big fresh hoppy aroma. Frrsh hop taste but no wheat taste.
3.3KØLF 200215. Golden-orange colour with an off-white head. Aroma is malt, floral, citrus. Flavour is hop, malt, floral, citrus, orange. OK beer.
3.1Bottle. Hazy yellow, white head. It’ exactly like the description says, pale ale with weizen notes of clove and banana covered with citrusy hops. Unfortunately covered not mixed. Still nice.
3.7Flaska. Snyggt.
4.5From XXXII, summer sale. In Weiss Damm glass. Playing Memoria.Great combination: wheat and hoppy. Refreshing and tasty
3.0Pours a hazy golden. Aroma has typical banana with american hops. Interesting. Taste is banana, some hops. A bit strange.
3.4Lemony hazy pour with a fluffy white head. Tropical fruit, citrus, spicy aromas, but the citrus seemed to overpower things a bit. Light, fruity, wheat, a little bitter. not bad
3.6.33l from Beerville Store. Paler gold, some good haze if you pour the yeast, white foam. Good weiss aroma with some relatively fresh greener hop character. Some syrup, hoppy extract. Not bad flavor but still a bit odd. Comparable in flavor but not skill to the hoppy Schneider.
2.9Misty with minute particles of protein caught in suspension. Mid gold and sunny. Good head of snow-white foam held high with plentiful lace. Weedy, swamp-wash and sour citrus nose. Not entirely clean with light under-ripe banana peel, lemongrass and finger lime with vinous quality. Frothy and foamy on the palate with a level of creaminess that is pleasant. Wheat driven malt profile; straw dry upfront with a sundrenched chewiness to the mid-palate. Light in feel with plenty of hops and malt in the finish. VInous like the nose and sour down the sides with a weedy and slightly acrid backdrop. Really doesn’t harness the Simcoe but I reckon there is plenty Centennial in the boil. Didn’t enjoy it, I must say! (33cL, BB 15/10/15, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)
3.4Bottle. Beautiful pale yellow colour and little thin head. Dry hop aroma with that of weizen yeasts. Light body, piney & subtle fruity hop-flavour, and hazy tastes of wheat malts.
3.5Bottle 330ml. @ home.
[ As BrewDog / Weihenstephan India Pale Weizen ].
Unclear medium yellow orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, moderate to heavy hoppy, citrus, herbs, hoppy, light flowers, moderate yeasty, fruity, weizen yeast - belgium yeast. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, yeasty, weizen yeast, hoppy. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20150603]
4.0Great colour, like a real Weizen. Not overly cloudy, pale gold. First thing you notice is the predominant wheat/Weizen aroma, very pleasant mixed with that lovely Simcoe aroma! (Surprised to read on the label made with barley, no mention of wheat malt). Coriander and orange peel dominate with a touch of citrus hop in the after-taste. Spicy, not very bitter. You’ll enjoy if you like hoppy IPA’s and Weihenstephan hefe!
3.5Bottle. Unclear yellow. Hop aroma: fruits and citrus shades. Taste combines weizen and IPA, some citrus, banana and more hop bitterness.
3.7Hop aroma was good, but dissapointing taste. Mixed flavor between hop and weizen feels so unclear, hazy.
3.6Hazy warm golden colour, firm white head. Aroma of yeast, banana, cloves, some light fruity notes. Light sweet, quite bitter flavour, hops, pronounced yeast. Finish cloves, wheat, light bitter hops. Nice. Without pouring the yeast the hop notes come through more pronounced, but with yeast it just tastes better, imho.

3.5Bottle from Tanakaya. Poured into a weizen glass. Pours a hazy golden color with a huge soapy white head. Nice aromas of banana, clove and light orange and grapefruit with some resiny notes. Average carbonation with a slighty chewy mouthfeel. Medium body, but still quite refreshing. Bitterness is there, but very light drinking. Not overbearing at all. A fun mash-up.
3.4Bottle from Biernavigatie, batch 403 BB 15/10/15, large sample. Cloudy golden color, big frothy slight off-white head. Aroma of wheat, banana and clove, slight citrussy hops. Bit grainy malt. Medium bitterness. Seems fairly dry. Really a hopped up weizen. Doesn’t balance out perfectly, but is pretty tasteful nonetheless.
3.3Hazy, light yellow pour and a thick white head. There is a typical weizen aroma but it’s quite light. Sweet banana tones, white bread and some hops. Taste also begins as you would expect from a weizen but quickly turns into more hoppy and bitter finish. Mouthfeel is foamy soft, plenty of carbonation as well. Mixing these two styles works alright but I think they’re both better off enjoyed by themselves.
3.4Bottled. Pours hazy golden with a small, white head. Aroma of wheat, a little citrus, apricot, peachy notes, spice and caramel. Sweet flavor that ends up dry and decent bitter. Medium bodied, oily texture and average carbonation. A nice brew. 🌟🌟🌟
3.4Bottle from an off-licence in Hanwell. Cloudy gold, with a slight, white, head. Hoppy aroma, with some sweet grains and stone fruits. Flavour was also sweet, with tangerines and apricots, a touch of spice and dryish finish. Enjoyable.
