3.7 Bottle. Pour is dark gold. Aroma of orange citrus, ginger, pepper, and caramel. Taste is slightly sweet with hint of spice.
3.4 Sampled during CBC 2013. Golden pour with a small off-white head. Definite pepper on the aroma, some fruity esters, candy sugar, and pale malts. Sweet flavor up front, some sugars, definite pepper, some lingering dryness. Not bad.
3.8 Bottle from Food and Friends in Philly. Pours a brilliantly clear light golden color with a huge fluffy white head that slowly dissipates to a cap on top. Smells of pepper mostly, with hints on yeasty esters and a touch of sweet honey like malt. The flavor is heavy on the pepper with a sweet bready honey like malt flavor and a bit of spicy yeasty phenols to round it all out. Medium body with a moderate to high level of carbonation and a sweet slick bubbly mouthfeel. Nice beer I’ve been wanting to try this forever. Its very heavy on the pepper, I felt that a bit more sweetness might have helped to counter that a bit but it was good as is.
3.6 Bottle from the brewers art in Baltimore. Pours a light cloudy golden color with a nice thin head that lasts. Taste is spicy at first wit the hint of peppe but very light and drinkable despite the abv. Very good
4.1 750 ml corked and caged bottle poured a clear gold with a lingering ring of white foam. Aromas of straw, green peppercorn and light citrus. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of straw, green peppercorn and light citrus with a crisp dry lingering peppery finish.
3.7 Clear golden pour with a thin white head and light sticky lacing .... Aroma has a nice punch of fresh peppercorns with some fruity tripel yeast and caramel malts .... great aroma .... Taste is spicy and sweet with caramel malts, lightly grassy and citrusy hops .... peppercorns are noticeable and tasty, but not overbearing and it also has a nice fruity tripel yeast as well .... mouthfeel is slightly oily/slick and very smooth .... finish is lightly bitter and peppery .... very well done
4.0 Surprisingly light for such a strong beer. Light in color, and easy to drink. A bit citrusy finish.
3.9 Bottle, as pictured. Pours a hazy gold, decent white head, bubbly. Smells a bit lemony, citrusy. Taste is similar, a nice spicy taste to it. Not too wild but very good, very well-brewed.
3.5 interesting triple with peppers and a kick, nothing i would write home about, but does the job
3.9 Hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is sweet, peppery, floral, light citrus, and a bit of candied sugar. Medium bodied with nice carbonation. Flavor is sweet sugars, some floral notes, peppery, a bit fruity. Really enjoyable beer. The pepper really accentuates the tripel bite.
4.0 Draft at Khyber Pass. Poured a clear bright gold with a lasting frothy white head. Lace. Floral peppery aroma rounded with some gentle sugar cane sweetness. Lemon zest. Thyme. Sweet green grapes. Jasmine. Lightly toasted wheat notes as well. Buttered shortbread. Hazelnuts. Nice look and mouthfeel. High ABV is rather well hidden. And yes the green peppercorns are certainly present but ultimately work well to cut through the sweetness without being overpowering. Feels both subtle and pronounced. Also brings some refreshing grassy notes that pop a bit at the finish. Not a traditional Belgium Trippel at all, but a very pleasant change from the usual.
3.5 Pours a cloudy pale gold with a high frothy yet resilient head. The pepper shows in the nose just a tad, but overall aroma is somewhat faint for the style: a little floral hop and some belgian yeast, but both underplayed, possibly to not overpower the signature pepper hints. Great taste! Very well balanced; a little on the sweet side, but the peppercorn adds a slight bite that’ plays well with the alcohol bite to balance out the sugars. Feels silky and a touch dry, which contradicts the taste and lighter body in an intriguing way. Visually, it appears to be carbonated fairly heavily, but the mouth-feel suggest otherwise. Finishes long and gentle. I’m giving an extra overall point since they donate part of their profit to local charities. A layman’s tripel with a trappist’s heart - kudos!
3.8 Pour is lightly pale golden yellow with a bubbly tan head. The nose is nice, yeast up front with a light pepper behind it and some nice lemon, very juicy, with a solid citrus orange hop in back. The taste is much more hoppy and sweet. Yeast is still pronounced in front, great peppery spice behind but the hops are very syrupy and juicy and don’t transition well. Light lemon zest then orange citrus and a blast of tangerine with a moderate bitterness in the finish. Creamy medium body with a soft feel and solid level of carbonation offering a semi dry finish.
3.9 Bottle. Moderate malt notes of light bread and grain, flowers, herbs and lemon for the hops, dough for the yeast with apple skin, white wine, wood, coriander and definitely green pepper. Head is average to large, fizzy, white with good, dense lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is muddy amber with a lot of tiny particles. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and moderately acidic and bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, slick, with a lively to fizzy carbonation and a moderately alcoholic finish. A very nice Tripel with the added twist of green pepper.
3.9 Tasting at Papsø’s, corked bottle Cloudy bond color, with generous, eggwhite-like head. Nice aroma of pepper and nettles. Sweetish malt flavor, elegant, fresh, with light Belgian yeast character, and very pleasant peppery touch; correct bitterness. The combination of pepper and sweetness is superior to other drier beers. Very good.
3.5 Bottle. Pours hazy, dark gold with thin fizzy white head; short retention and ni lacing. Aroma is caramel and cereal malt, herbs, black pepper, oranges, yeast, and floral hops. Flavor is malt forward with supporting fruit esters and faint hops; crisp finish. Medium body, carbonation, and warmth.
3.6 Bottle at Brewer’s Art. Pours hazy orange with a small, fizzy white head, short retention with spare lacing. Aroma is Candi sugar, straw and meal malt, spices and fruity esters. Flavor is malt forward with spices, pepper, light hops and bitterness, fruity esters, Belgian yeast and a dry finish. Medium to full body, medium warmth and carbonation.
3.0 Appearance: deep honeyed gold with a thick white head quickly shrinking to minimal lace. Aroma: pears, peaches, honey, grain, and pepper. Taste: muddled pears in light syrup, yeast, freshly cracked pepper, honey, lemon, tangerine, with a hint of club crackers. Finish: slick, a bit a sweet, with lingering notes of yeast, pears, and pepper. Notes: This was a very thick beer. The palate was extremely slick, almost fatty. It felt like I’d just had a really greasy sausage. The flavors were nice, and the alcohol was decently hidden, but the palate was just too rich.
4.1 bought by Dave .. . Pours a hazy sunset gold .. tons of foam, sticky lacing .. . light pepper, honey, lemon zest, light yeast, and pear skin .. . medium aggressive mouth .. . good tripel! .. . . I think there should be something in science called the "reindeer effect." I don’t know what it would be, but I think it’d be good to hear someone say, "Gentlemen, what we have here is a terrifying example of the reindeer effect.
3.7 750 ml, had the regular tripel last night from these guys, a little thick but here it holds up to the peppercorns. The peppercorns add great aroma and a cool spicey element to the beer. Tasty

3.8 Bottle my buddy shared with me after our Fantasy Football league draft. Pours a light gold with frothy white head. Aroma has green peppercorn, butterscotch, yeast, and hops. Flavor has definite peppercorn spiciness with massive butterscotch, vanilla, and bread. Probably the best Tripel I’ve had; they nailed the spiciness here. I love it.
4.3 Pour is a hazy and dark yellow golden color, minimal head, small amount of lacing. Aromas and taste of funky apple, spanish cedar, green pepper, spicy malts and a very tiny bit of hops. Reminds me so much of Cigar City Gruit which is one of my all time favorite beers. Taste is woody, tropical, and filled with sweet peppers and various fruits. Has a tasty dry finish. Awesome tripel.
