BridgePort Blue Heron Ale

BridgePort Blue Heron Ale

Fiercely local, drawing on indigenous ingredients from the hop fields of the Willamette Valley and the barley fields of the high Northwest desert. This pale ale is round and soft on the palate, finishing crisply, to capture the flavor and spirit of the Pacific Northwest in every pint and bottle.

2.4 Has an underwhelming amount of hops in it, which is just fine with me. Nothing special, and nothing awful. Overall a good beer.
2.5 Draught@brewpub (Portland, OR) Clear amber color, steady creamy beige head, lace. Light pale malty aroma. Light-bodied. Pale malty, a bit bready light fruity hoppyness. Quite thin APA.
4.0 Comes out of the tap a clear dark amber that is almost coppery. The pint I got did not have much of a head, but this may have been an artifact of the pour. Crisp, malty aroma has an undertone of apple cider and a teeny hint of cloves. Crisp, lively, malty flavor has an apple overtone and hints of cloves and caramel. Lively, tingly, ragged texture leaves a nice fruity fizz.
2.3 On tap at Bridgeport with Jeff. Pours a light gold with whiteish foam. Smells lightly hoppy. Tastes of 2-row with an aftertaste of some bittering hops.
3.1 Slightly floral nose with spice notes. Medium carbonation. Decent. Not great, a bit dank funk on an ubclean finish. 12 oz bottle.
3.3 Bottle. Pours an amber body with a faint off white head. Sweeter hop tones light citrus notes, apricot sweetness. Medium caramel malts with a light floral tone. Soft clean, pretty good.
2.5 A malt sweetness arises; clean, spicy hops. A pale copper color with white head. Starts and finishes with malt semi-sweetness. Bittered just enough to make it beer. Fairly watery on palate, but a silky finish. Tastes like a british pale ale as hops aren’t that noticeable. Malt shines and avoids being cloying, but sub-par pale ale.
2.7 Bottle served in a shaker. Pours clear, orange-amber in color with a short off-white head. Minimal retention and lacing. Aroma is a balance of cereal malt and light dough. Medium bitter, mild sweet flavor. Medium-Light body, lively carbonation, oily-thin texture, and a prickly, bitter finish. Not my favorite of the style.
3.0 Easy drinking pale ale. I expected more. Always do from any Oregon beer. Very very pale pale ale.
3.1 Pours slightly hazy amber orange with a foamy beige head that leaves spotty lacing and a ring around the glass. Aroma is kind of funky, old fruit and hops. Taste is better but is still not as vibrant as I like APA’s to be. body is medium, soft carbonation.
2.8 Bottle. Bland, a bit of a skunky taste. Pours orange yellow with a few cream clings, which is the most interesting part of this beer.
2.8 6-pack from Mr. Bill’s. Smells ester-y and a bit like tin. Pours darker than expected, like brass. Tastes pale and light. Carbonation is soft. Tastes a little like biscuits and malt. Not bad for what it is.
2.8 Mehhhh...it’s like they skimped on the ingredients this one to create a diluted version of a high-end example of the style. Just not up to snuff, guys.
3.2 Shipped to me by my wife from a trip to Portland. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a cloudy caramel-amber color with a large orange-white head that produced some lacing. The aroma was crisp fruity and piney hops with a touch of sweetness. The flavor was tart, tangy and bitter with a dry nutty malt undertone and light lemony hops. The finish was fairly short. Medium body. Pleasant.
3.4 12 oz bottle from Safeway - Pours a light orange color with a foamy, but quickly dissipating white head. Faint aroma of floral hops. Medium sweetness. Good starter micro for the transplanted midwesterners.
3.3 Bottled, pours crystal clear light amber with medium white head, aroma pine-like hop aroma with clean malt notes, crisp hops up front with light bready malt and lingering light hopbitters on palate
3.0 on tap at brdigeport ale house in portland. Not overly hoppy or really distinguishable at all, not in a good or bad sense.

2.9 12oz bottle. Pours a nice pale copper hue with a white head and delicate lacing. A soft maltiness and mild floral hop aroma. Taste is nicely balanced. Biscuit, toffee, pale malt flavor along with the floral, piney hop notes. Clean, simple and flavorful.
2.6 Bridgeport’s gift for the masses, best for when you need to gulp it straight from the bottle, or want a decent case of beer from the supermarket with questionable selection.
2.9 Cask at the Bridgeport Brewery Fruity, somewhat sour, with a peppery hop finish. Citrus and piney hop aroma. Not very flavorful, and the cask version lacks spunk and crispness.
3.4 Split 6 in Seattle. Frothy head on amber (plastic hotel cup). Malt scent. Flavour of pine, malt and mint. Pretty meaty backing. Hop and mint finish. Not super hoppy. Nice big malt, almost an amber. Not sure why I am picking up mint in this one.
2.9 Amber pour with too much malt on the nose and some orange. Flavor was all malt, no hop. The Coppertail was much better, but it’s now gone.
3.3 2009 Bottle - Pours copper with a small off white head...aroma is fresh grain, dry malt and slightly metallic...flavour is similar with a clean hop profile and a lingering cereal grain finish...I always liked this beer...nothing too special but consistently good...
2.6 Nothing special about this beer. Sweet first taste that ends a little bitter. But not a stand out.
2.9 Light amber pour with a barely there head. Very sweet aroma with a tiny bit of citrus present. Dry mouthfeel with a taste of malts and a tiny bit of hop flavoring. Not so high on this one.
3.2 Smells faint hops, a little apple... But thats just my nose. Orange copper in color. Taste is up front bitter and toasty. This is very clean.
3.2 Draught @ Bridgeport Brewing. Pours a clear amber color with a small off-white head. Has a sweetish malty hoppy aroma. Sweetish malty and slightly grainy flavor with some hoppy hints. Has a sweetish malty finish with some hints of hoppy bitterness in the aftertaste.
3.3 Bottle. Pours clear amber, with a thick cream colored head. Rich malt aroma, with slight raw grain note, Dry, with a raw flavor that is not unpalatable. Very little hop note.
2.8 Golden with off-white head leaving lacing. Faint malt aroma. Slight hop bite but disappaites, minimal malt profile, slightly creamy. Nothing outstanding but a clean finish
