2.4 Poured from bottle. Hazy amber, aroma was dank, skunky, light citrus. The taste was terrible imo, skunky, dank, bitter, citrus, earthy. Fairly tough on the palate. Definitely not for me.
3.1 Poured from 12 oz bottle into pint glass. Appearance: pours a 2" off white fluffy head that drops very slowly with abundant lacing. Color is cloudy golden-orange with some sediment in suspension and mild streaming carbonation. Aroma: pine, citrus, and pineapple dominate the white bread dough backbone. Mouthfeel: medium a bit chewy & sticky with a somewhat dry and astringent finish. Flavor: bitter citrus rind dominates from start to finish with some pine and tangerine notes. Malt is less pronounced than I expected with just enough sweetness to be noticeable. Overall: very good.
4.0 Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a golden amber color with a one finger head of billowy white foam. The head fades relatively quickly leaving just a trace of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is heaviest of a fruity smell with lots of tropical fruits and citrus aromas. Along with these aromas comes some smells of a melon as well as some aromas of a more modest grassy and grapefruit hop smell. Overall quite sweet and delicious. Taste – The taste begins with a bready flavor mixed with some nice grapefruit hop and a little bit of pine as well. As the taste advances, more and more bitter pine hop come to the tongue, bringing a bit of a resinous taste to the beer. All the while, sweeter flavors accompany the hop tastes, with some tropical and citrus sweet tastes, as well as a bit of a candied sugar comes to the tongue. Some hay and grass and an increase in the pine and some earth come at the very end, leaving one with a rather pleasant and smooth, but nicely hopped and decently sweeter flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thicker and creamier side with a carbonation level that is on the slightly lower side. The thicker and creamier feel are fantastic for the brew and make for one easy drinking and flavorful double IPA. Overall – This was another rather enjoyable brew by Bridgeport. I think many of their stronger (abv.) they do are rather underrated. They are flavorful and balanced, all while hiding much of the abv. and keeping a great drinkability.
2.9 12oz bottle. Medium beige head atop slightly hazed amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, orange, some pine, mango, light pastry. Taste is moderately sweet, pine/grapefruit, some mango, faint alcohol. Medium body, some resin.
3.2 Dark dark hoppy beer that brings the hops right every time. This is robust and thick.
3.1 インペリアルIPA メロン香が強い 甘くて苦いが、ちょっと薄い感じがする
4.5 Wow great smell of hops when you open the bottle, pours slightly hazy, bitterness and malt balance is good, and at 7.5%abv and 6.78 a six pack its a hidden gem and very underrated. That’s fine by me more for me without waiting in lines for overhyped beers. Good job Bridgeport!
3.7 Smells a little fruity. Pretty dank beer with earthy hop flavor all the way through. Small malt body comes through in the middle to balance. It’s a decent drinking IPA, not much more to say about it.
3.4 Bottle from Walmart. Medium copper in color. Pungent hop nose with a little sweet fruitiness. Grapefruit bitterness up front. Not biting bitterness, but more of a balanced flavor. Midrange quaffable impy IPA.
3.5 Rated based on notes taken 31 Aug 2012 -- This is a very enjoyable hop bomb.
3.7 From a bottle; pours slightly hazy gold. Persistent, thick white lacing. Aroma is a malty overtone. Taste is juicy, assertively bitter with a malty backbone.
3.7 While not normally my kind of brew (I’m far more partial to Eureopan beers), I must say that I am very impressed by the one thing that this highly-hopped beer has that too many others lack - balance. The pour is a honey-coloured brew, more opaque than transparent, and that bright, fresh, citrus hop aroma is very strong indeed. Fortunately, once tasted, the beer is backed by a sweet, honey-flavoured and caramel-esque malt, which helps taper the aggressive hops. The integration of the malt and hops may sound like it conflicts, but they actually compliment one another, rounding off the aggressiveness of each other. A demanding, interesting brew, and very well made.
2.9 "this one likely had a little age on it. it had the requisite thick chewy body and resiny-ocity to it, but it was all bitter and malt in the aroma and flavor. the hop aromas and flavors had obviously faded. too bad - it was still decent and seemed like it could bevery pleasant fresh."
3.5 Very good copper IPA. A must try for hops lovers!!! Yum yum yum yum yum!!!!
2.3 Pours a dark golden, very opaque; thick looking. Initial smells of citrus and honey coming through. Tastes of strong IPA on the back of the tongue, extremely strong bitter aftertaste. Very unique tasting! However, a fruity aftertaste would do the beer justice.
3.8 This beer pours a deep golden colour with a small white head with large bubbles. Citrus nose and peach and a hint of caramel taste with a big bitter hit. Lovely big beer. Pity it's out if commission.
3.5 Bottle. Pours slightly hazy gold. Persistent, thick white head. Aroma of grass, sugar, citrus zest. Taste is juicy, assertively bitter without being overwhelming. Orange, lemon, hints of lime. Grassy, bitter finish. Crisp, clean. Lower end of the DIPA abv range, not much booze to muddle things.
4.2 I’ve been drinking this beer for over a year now, but never rated it. Crazy. It’s one of the best. Huge flavor, strong alcohol content, and damn fine flavor.
3.4 Bottle from Hazel’s beverage world. Hazy amber color, white head. Bitter taste with hops, grapefruit, pine, a bit of resin and caramel. Slightly one-dimensional body dominated by hops. Bitter finish with grapefruit, hops and pine. Good imperial IPA, although somewhat unbalanced.
3.6 Botella de 35,5 cl, adquirida en Beer Inn Mugishutei en Sapporo, Japon. Color dorado. Sabor a lupulo, muy ligeramente amargo y seco.
3.9 Subtle aroma for an ipa which may be due to age of bottle. Golden burn’t orange appearance. Mellow, slightly fruity taste that is taken over by a very strong bitter aftertaste. Decent ipa that could have been better with a fresher bottle perhaps.
2.7 Carmel amber color, white head. Leafy aroma. Straight malt and extreme hop taste. Finishes with slight citrus
2.3 Taking small sips, it’s pretty good. Has a citrus sweetness thats unusual for an IPA. However the finish is painful and completely ruins the flavor. Gets worse the more you drink.
3.0 Piney aroma, with some sweet malts mixed in there. Hazy orange pour with a nice head and good lacing. It’s an ok IPA, not really great.
2.8 Reviewed from notes. The appearance had a hazy orange colored body with a one finger white foamy head that dies and leaves some sticky lacing The smell had some bitter hops up front, but slowly combines with the malts to balance as it warms. The taste had a more bitter than sweet flavoring, but still good for the most part, slightly dry bitter aftertaste, definitely a very dry finish (this definitely has one of the driest finishes I’ve ever had in any DIPA). On the palate, it sat at about a medium, semi-sessionable. Carbonation seems a bit under for the style, not bad to me. Overall, definitely not the best DIPA on the market, but still worthy of eventually coming back to, not a disappointment, just not what I expected from Bridgeport.
3.0 Bottle: Thanks, Jeff! Yellow-amber body with a light haze all-around, seemingly more than just a regular chill haze; soapy white head trifles around on top. Aroma with strong notes of earth, dirty hops, grass, toasted & buttered biscuits, & a mild dankness in the finish. Taste follows right along with a hop profile that edges on the English side; dirt, pale earthiness, weedy grass, lightly herbal, & finishing with notes of crisp yeast, toast, & crackers. Wets the palate nicely & leads into a mainly dry finish... Decent English-style Imperial IPA overall.
3.3 bottle. amber with one finger head. malty ipa. averageish. hops seem a bit dull, but i suspect it may have been sitting around a while. was in a bargain bin.
1.3 Poor after taste and finish for an IPA. Nice price for a six pack about 2.00 cheaper than other IPA's.
3.2 Soft floral hoppy aroma. Initially easy on the palate although this turns reasonably acidic and continues into the bitter aftertaste. Not great, but strong ABV and cheap price.
3.5 Pours a medium gold with decent off-white head. Good lacing. Aroma is more malt than hops with some bread, caramel, and a little citrus. Flavor starts sweet and has more of a malt backbone than some similar beers, but then a solid, rich mouth feel kicks in quickly along with a delicious stickiness and pleasantly bitter finish. A fairly complex and tasty brew.
