BridgePort IPA

Deep golden in color, BridgePort IPA has an assertive and fragrant hop character from the two full pounds of Cascade, Chinook, Goldings, Crystal and Ahtanum hops in every barrel. / (Our Original IPA) Over 20 years ago, our Original IPA set the standard for an American brewed IPA by using only the freshest Pacific Northwest ingredients available. That tradition continues today. We blend 5 hop varieties grown locally in the Willamette Valley to create a signature floral and citrus aroma. Bottle-conditioned to perfection, BridgePort IPA is exceptionally balanced with a soft round body and robust character.

3.6 Draft Third of a Pint at GBBF 2009 (Day 1), Earl’s Court, London Aug 2009 - Gold in colour. Hoppy but NOT extreme; citrus piney & resinous hops. Malty backbone; pale malts, caramel. Nice long hoppy bitter finish. Very drinkable. Nice IPA. (2009-08)
3.9 12 ounce bottle poured to wine glass light amber orange hue, very hazy, medium tan foam that slowly goes away fragrant, hoppy malty aroma bitter, some sweetness creamy, god carbonation, long follow through, bitter then tart aftertaste very good beer, ok to repeat but not look for drank: February 2, 2017 6:20 PM
3.1 Very average. Transferring from my old rating system. Hops, but not exciting. Just average. Wouldn’t throw it away. Can’t remember if it was bottle or tap.
1.7 Hazy yellow, nice head, aroma of newspaper, vegetables, honey, flavor of newspaper, vegetables, honey, light bodied.
4.1 A beautifully balanced, delicious IPA from a classic Portland brewery. Not too bitter, just the right hoppy flavor.
3.6 Small bottle from a variety 24 pack from Costco, Marysville, Wa. Medium amber orange color, moderate white head, faint beer nose. Moderately hopped and malted, nice balance. 3.6
3.0 Bottle in Manzanita, OR. Hazy golden body with slight head. Nose is hoppy, floral. Taste is hoppy, citrus. Bitter finish.
3.4 Bottle. Cloudy, orange, light sweetness, medium bitterness, medium body, oily feel, flat, & bitter finish.
2.8 @ Bridgeport brewpub 16-3-10: lätt humlig och kryddig. Lite lätt och lagom med en hint av klor.
3.0 On tap at the Brewpub. Hazy golden with a white head. Nothing special with this one. Citrus, some hops and malt.
3.9 Lovely gold orange colour, heat foamy head carrying some of the colour with it. Cloudy but not really settled in the bottle ie: cloudy from start to finish - no settling. Musty aromas on the hooter. Caramel finish on taste and sting lingering bitterness - a bit like a marriage.
3.9 355 ml bottle into shaker. Full-on nose! Cheese, wood shavings, pineapple, lemon sherbet! Amazing! Looks cloudy orange with fluffy white head and many tiny bubbles. Laces well. Flat mouthfeel, oily texture. Finish is plastic, resin, grapefruit, dough. There’s a diminishing white wine grape note that becomes sweeter right at the end. I think 5 different hop varieties are playing tricks on me, great beer. Evolving taste is hard to pin down but I like it!
3.5 12 oz bottle via trade from notes. Pours a hazy golden color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have floral hops, citrus, some earthy notes, pale, mildly toasted malts, toffee, ok but nothing really stands out.
2.9 bottle shared at a tasting at troubles’ place. Thanks Excellent Little Brother! Hazy gold with a white, white head. Sweet, old hops in the nose, old hops, bitter and a little vegetal aroma. Medium body, bitter and a little stale finish.
2.9 Tap at the brewpub. Slightly hazy light gold pour with a clingy white head. Kind of a dull IPA, I’m sorry to say. No noticeable flaws, but nothing to get excited about. Slightly dry finish.
2.5 Bottle sample at a tasting at troubles’s place. Thanks kerenmk. Cloudy yellow. Aroma of kinda stale hops and a vegetal touch. Flavor has sweetish malt, a bit of marmalade, a bit of vegetables, stale citric hops, and a bitterish finish. Medium-bodied.
3.6 Cask@GBBF 2015, Olympia, London - gold coloured pour with white head. Aroma and taste is a medley of tropical and citrus fruits, hoppy and malty, some caramel, orange, grapefruit and peach, pine needles, hoppy bitter finish. Good stuff.
3.4 Cask at GBBF, Olympia, London, 2015. Gold pour with a white head. Apricot and sweet citrus nose. Apricot and tangerine flavour. Fresh fruit feel. Good stuff.
3.2 Gravity cask at GBBF. Hazy dark yellow / orange, still, small foamy white head. Aroma is light icecream, ice lolly, alcoholic slush puppy. Body is medium to light, soft carbonation, slightly foamy. Taste is light malts, soft citrus, some booze showing up. A little watery with a dirty bitterness. Flavour is a touch thin.
3.6 Cask at GBBF 2015, day 1 - London. Pours clear gold with a creamy, white head. The nose holds ripe and rindy citrus fruits. Medium sweet flavor with mild alcohol notes, orange rind, dry pale bread. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish, resinous, with light grassy bitterness. Good one.
2.8 Cask at GBBF 2015. It pours clear pale orange/gold with a small white head. The nose is earthy, must, toasty grain, dirt, barnyard, grass and porridge. The taste is bitter, earthy, grassy, mild sweetness, grainy, porridge, and dough with a dry, peppery finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. A bit grainy and sticky. Pretty basic in my opinion.
3.4 At Great British Beer Festival 2015, Day 1. Hay golden beer with a small offwhite head. Hoppy citrus aroma, grassy, hay, peach, some floral notes. Hoppy citrus flavor, grapes, peach, clementines, some caramel and bread.
2.8 Cask gravity at GBBF 2015 day 1. Hazed golden yellow coloured with a loose white head. Aroma is solvent, ditty grassy hop, light vinegar. Flavour is composed of grainy, harsh grassy Hoo bitterness, dirty citrus, lemon. Palate is medium light, moderate cask condition. Tastes a bit young.
3.3 From cask. Pours cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma is fruity, crisp hoppy and slight citrusy. Bitter and smooth fruity. Crisp finish.
3.5 From a 355ml bottle with expiry of April 2016. Imported to Australia by Trumer-Australia Pty Ltd. Hazy deep golden pour with a large dense white head that leaves lace rings. Aroma of medium strong hops (pine needles, grapefruit, tangerine) on top of a caramel malt base. Palate is medium bodied and slick with good balance of malt sweetness and resinous dry hop bitterness. A fine session IPA.
3.4 Aroma: floral hops, herbs, mint, grapefruit. Appearance: hazy gold, medium, creamy, white head. Taste: light bitter. Palate: bitters continue, citrus fruits, grapefruit, turns very dry. Overall: nice IPA, quite bitter and dry in plate. Pint at Hangar on the Wharf, Juneau, AK.

3.0 It’s very middle of the road IPA, surprised at the high ratings, strong bitterness, crisp, long grassy finish.
4.0 Poured from 12 oz bottle into pint glass. Appearance: pours a 3" cream colored head that drops slowly with lots of lacing. Color is a cloudy orange with some mild streaming carbonation. Aroma: orange and pine are dominate, some bread dough in the background. Mouthfeel: medium bodied, sticky with a mostly dry finish and some alcohol warming in the throat. Flavor: citrus rind, tangerine and pine dominate the flavor along with white bread malts and some raisin. Overall: a well balanced and tasty IPA.
3.4 Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a hazed golden amber color with a huge head of billowy white foam. The head has a fantastic staying power, only very slowly fading to leave tons of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is heaviest of a grapefruit citrus smell mixed with a moderate showing of some pine. Along with these aromas comes smells of a cracker malt like smell and a little bit of an herbal aroma. Taste – The taste begins with a with a semi-sweet malt flavor, being a mix of a bready and crackery taste combined with a little bit of a caramel flavor. Upfront there is also a bit of a grapefruit hop, which remains throughout the taste. As the taste advances some of the caramel sweetness fades, only to be replaced by some flavors of orange an light fruit and more hop flavors of a pine and earthy nature. In the end, the later hop flavors dominate the hop profile and with the mix of modest sweetness, malt, and hop, one is left with a somewhat drier, and more lightly hopped IPA flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average side for a brew of 5.5% with a carbonation level that is on the average to higher side. The average side of the carbonation and body are a good blend for the hop and the lighter malt flavors of the bread and make for a nice easy drinking IPA overall. Overall – An alright IPA, but a nothing too exceptional overall.
