Brigand Belgian Ale

Brigand Belgian Ale

This rebellious Brigand is a dry bitter, blonde beer that re-ferments in the bottle. It used to be amber in colour; now it is pale blonde thanks to the use of pale malts and pils malt as well as unmalted wheat. Brigand tastes full in the mouth with a slightly malty aroma. It also has a slightly malty taste with accents of spices and hops. The hop bitterness comes through in the finish.

Ingredients: water, barley malt (Pale, Pilsener), unmalted wheat, sugar, hops, yeast, antioxidant (ascorbic acid).

3.6 Bottle, 0.33l. Cloudy copper pour, one finger frothy off-white head, medium lasting. Good lacing on the glass. Yeasty, fruity nose, citruses, some floral notes, herbs, candy. Medium body, soft carbonation. Soft and smooth mouthfeel and texture, pleasantly fizzy, slight chewiness, goes down quite nicely. Usual taste and aroma, sweet, mild bitterness, subtle boozy touches. Aroma of yeast and spices, wheat, ripe fruits. Floral notes, earthy, minerals. Bready, dubtle alcohol, warming, nicely balanced. Mild sugary stickiness. Short to medium lasting finish, dry, mild boozy. Quite ordinary but tasty nonetheless.
4.1 Bardzo ładna choć niezbyt duża pianka, kolor złoty, klarowny. Intensywne cytrusowe bardzo przyjemne zapachy. Alko bardzo dobrze ukryty pomimo 9%. Wypite z przyjemnością , bardzo dobre piwo. Zakupione w markecie.
3.5 Golden color with great dense foam! Nose. Yeast, pear, citrus notes. High carbonation, airy body. Taste. Malt, yeast, pear and apple notes, citrus notes, low hops, fruity sourness, zest. pleasant hop bitterness in the aftertaste. Delicious. Minuses is a yeast character, but this will go away with aging.
3.7 330ml bottle from Beers of Europe (£3.29): Very clear with a light amber body & thin, bubbly white head o. Top just about covering the whole surface initially too. Floral hops, some yeast & light fruits then an earthy bitterness further on, maybe some biscuit notes without it being too strong. It's just as floral tasting with orange peel, light spices & pepper alongside a subtle funky taste & hints of warming, boozy alcohol flavours. I got some Belgian yeast & apples right at the end too. It's medium bodied, dry & boozy with a nice balance & fine carbonation too.
3.6 Bottle online from Beerhouseshop.be. Pours an almost clear golden colour with a large thick foamy white head. Nice looking beer. Aromas of citrus, banana, cloves, bread and caramel. Taste is more citrus, cloves, toasty bread, caramel, brown sugar and a fair amount of peppery spice on the finish. Medium to full body, lively fizzy palate and slightly oil mouthfeel. A nice enough beer but it becomes too sweet the more i drink.
3.2 Smell- weak malt, Belgian yeast, citrus, orange. Foam- thin, caramel, sweet, large in mouth, Belgian notes, acidic tones. Head is large white color. Appearance- seems like a beer specific bottle cap. Clear orange color, some active carbonation. From- snifter Taste - sweet, caramel, malt, weak hops, weak citrus, all is quite muffled and with not too well-hidden alcohol. Not the worst Belgian I had, but not certainly not the best also.
3.2 Bottle 0.33L Clear golden body with a large, frothy, off-white head, mostly lasting with some nice lacing. Moderate malty (caramel, cereals) and light hoppy (orange) aroma with notes of spices, alcohol and sugar. Moderate sweet, light-to-moderate bitter and light acidic flavour; long-lasting sweet finish with light acidic notes. Medium body with oily texture; soft carbonation; light-to-moderate alcoholic warming in the finish.
3.5 Tight foamy white head left a creamy cover on a pale gold body. Fruity aroma with Belgian yeast. Medium bodied, sharp on the mouth with a dry clean back. Bitter herbal tastes with Belgian yeast, zest & citrus with a light floral back.
4.0 Taster 1995 bottle @ De Heeren Van Liedekercke. Clear amber, foamy white head. Whiskey, porto, fruit like ripe apples, oak, caramel. Medium body, absent carbonation.
4.1 Butelka 0,75 l. Piana biała, bardzo obfita, gęsta, trwała, z piękną koronką. Kolor ciemnozłoty, piwo niemal klarowne. W aromacie nuty gumy balonowej, ciasta drożdżowego, szampańskie, mirabelki, przyprawowe korzenna, zwłaszcza goździka i gałki muszkatołowej, banana, słodowe. W smaku słodkawe, ciasto drożdżowe, banan, morela, szampan, korzenna belgijskość w typie gałki muszkatołowej i goździka, słodowość, szlachetny alkohol. Finisz w kierunku suchości, ziołowy i korzenny. Pełnia średnio wysoka, wysycenie wysokie, goryczka średnio niska, ziołowo-korzenna, alkohol dobrze schowany, przyjemnie rozgrzewa. Bardzo dobry, klasyczny belgijski strong z bardzo dobrze ukrytym alkoholem, bogatym smakiem i aromatem i niezłą pijalnością. Aroma of bubble gum, yeast cake, champagne, mirabelle plum, spices, especially clove and nutmeg, banana, malt. Sweetish taste, notes of yeast cake, banana, apricot, champagne, 'belgian' spices, malt, pleasant alcohol. Dryish herbal and spicy finish. Medium to full body, high carbonation, low to medium spicy and herbal bitterness, well hidden warming alcohol. Very good, rich and drinkable, classical belgian strong ale. It deserves much better rating imo.
3.5 Copenhagen 5/6 2020. 33 cl little, chubby bottle from Kvickly, Allerød. Photo of handsome Robin Hood wannabe aiming a bow on the label. Very Movie poster-like. Pours slightly unclear yellow with a big, white head. Settles as thin but frothy layer of foam clinging to the sides of the glass. Substantial lacing. Aroma is medium intense with a sweet, fruity odor and a solid touch of alcohol. Sweet banana, brown sugar. Yeasty, earthy odor of basement. Medium strong carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, soft yet tingling texture. Flavor is medium intense with a fairly strong sweetness followed by a more moderate bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish. Lingers for a while. Finish is semi-dry with a touch of alcohol. Very Belgian Belgian Ale. The mandatory touch of yeast, fruity banana sweetness and solid dose of alcohol. No complaints from me.
3.6 330ml bottle from Beers of Europe, King’s Lynn and drunk on 28/01/2009. The aroma is more earthy, hoppy and grassy, with yeasty notes. The flavour however, is more on the sweeter, malty side. Either way, it makes for a nice beer.
4.5 J adore son goût !!
3.4 Flaska Belgobaren.
Dulzor maltoso medio-alto, amargor terroso medio, acidez ligera y regusto largo. Textura acuosa, cuerpo medio y carbonatación alta.
4.3 Light amber and slightly hazy with a frothy head. Hoppy, hempy and yeasty smell with that candylike note typical for Belgian blonde ales. Rather sweet taste at the attack, then a certain bitterness sets in accompanied by a little citric acidity. A nice beer, the ABV of 9% is not noticeable by taste.
3.0 (Bottle) Pours slightly hazy golden with tiny white head. Pleasant aroma of caramel with spicy hints. Medium body with rather fizzy carbonation. Taste is caramel with some vinous notes, some alcohol burn, some spice. Rather harsh, not well integrated.
3.0 Bottle pours pale gold good head. Odd malty aroma and some sugary spiced yeast. Sugary, crackers, melon, apple. Too sweet and sugary for me. Not much here.
Pours clear yellow with a white head. Aroma of malt yeast, sweet fruit, parfume, alcohol. Flavor is light sweet, malt, yeasty, fruit, alcohol. Medium body, average to lively carbonation, sweet light warming finish. 040419
3.3 Fľaška dávnejšie zakúpená. Vôňa citrus a med. Farba zlatista. Chuť sladká medovo citrusová.
3.3 (bottle 0,33l from Craftbeer (Brno)) Overall: Ok spicy belgian with some leather-like notes. Aroma: Yeasts, spicy, light leather. Appearance: Clear golden. Minimal, white head. Taste: Medium sweet, spicy yeasts, light bitter, some zesty/citrusy. Palate: Medium body. Higher carbonation. Light bitter, light spicy finish.
