3.4 Very nice beer. Dark brown colored. Chocolate, nutty, toffee nose. Taste follows, but not too heavy body. Dry, bitter finish.
3.5 12 oz single bottle from Biggie Wine & Liquor. Almost black appearance with a lasting tan head and thick lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, toasted grains, bitter chocolate, light coffee and light earthy notes. Similar flavor, dark, rich and malty with a smooth feel and a dry, mild bitter finish.
3.9 Best of the Bristol beers I’ve had. Deep mahogany with a stiff foam. Chocolate and roasted aromas. Good body and mouthfeel from the oats. The flavors were slightly dry and bitter from the dark malts, not hops. Finish is clean.
4.0 Bottle. Roasted malt and chocolate aroma with oatmeal notes. Pours dark brown with a thin light brown head and very little lacing. Roasted malt with some chocolate to start. Finished smooth with oatmeal notes with the chocolate sweetness lingering on the palate. Good stout.
3.5 On tap. Black in color with a large beige head. Aroma is of roasted malts, chocolate, light toffee. Taste is of chocolate, oatmeal cookies, and a bitter roasted finish.
3.8 A great stout for cold winter days. Can’t really smell or taste the oatmeal, but a satisfying drink nevertheless.
3.9 12 oz. bottle. Appearance: slight brown head, black color, average lacing. Aroma: roast, nuts, coffee, bread, chocolate, cereal. Palate: full body, oily texture, average carbonation, long bitter finish. Taste: Sweet first half, hoppy dark chocolate taste at the finish. Overall, very good beer and very well balanced. Love this beer.
4.5 Holiday stout under nitro! Strong malt and chocolate flavor with enough strength and bitterness to emphasize the style! Offered as a holiday ale, but could be good year round!
3.1 Very dark brown in color, this winter ale has a nose of an oatmeal stout, with cold and dark roasted malts. It has a nice, roasted, dull palate that’s a little dry. The flavor is mostly of roasted malts softened slightly by oats. This beer appears to get very good reviews from others, but I’m not so sure what’s so spectacular about this. I’m not really impressed at all.
3.5 Re-rate. Bottle. Clear dark reddish brown with a small, tan head. Aromas is roasted malt, toasted nuts, light chocolate, smoke, chocolate and vanilla.Flavor is roasted malt, chocolate, smoke, light caramel, coffee, and toasted nuts. Medium bodied, smooth with a slightly dry and bitter finish.
2.9 Bottle. Pours near black with a light beige head. Sweet and lightly roasted malts, some light notes of almost rotten fruits, and a hint of chocolate. Not bad.
3.7 Dark beer with some cola colored hints around the edges. Only the thinnest slick of tan bubbles for a head. Nose of roasted grains some coffee. Full flavored stout with lots of roasted grains, molasses, some bitter coffee and burnt toast. Smooth mouth feel with a long coffee bitterness in the finish. Very drinkable stout.
3.6 Pours a very dark brown with two finger of light brown head. Settles to a nice cap in minutes with some lacing. Aroma is nutty, caramel, roasted, and sweet. Flavor is sweet up front, fading into roasted malt, coffee, and roasted oatmeal. Moderate carbonation, medium light body, and a smooth mouthfeel. Finishes dry and surprisingly clean. Not overpoweringly sweet. Rich but drinkable, an awesome stout.
4.1 I can’t believe I passed this up for so long because it is good. Standard stout appearance, brown at the edges and black through the middle. You really have to let this one warm up because when its cold its sort of chalky but once it warms it gets nice. Aroma is sweet, sticky, nice. Flavor is a hint of sticky black sweetness, oats make it round and its just plain good. I’ll be buying a bunch more and I might even say this is better than Firestone Walker’s velvet merlin which was my favorite oatmeal stout up to this point. 4.2 Complex pleasant aroma of a oatmeal molasses cookie & coffee. Pours dark brown & fizzy with a light brown mostly diminishing head. Roasted malt moderately sweet flavor with a short finish. Medium to full body, this is an easily drinkable well balanced stout.
3.7 Pour out of 12 oz bottle is dark brownish pretty much black, some slight brownish edges but really opaque with a fairly thin leading to almost no tan head. Aroma brings notes of chocolate, espresso, lactose notes, hints of oat in there with a slight vanilla and caramel note in there as well. Taste is nice with roasted espresso, dark chocolate and booze soaked caramel, hints of oat filling out the body a bit more but it is slightly thin, hints of toast, roasted malt finish this out fairly bitter, surprising for a sweet stout. Nice carb to push it through the palate, and overall a very nice and easy drinking stout that is also very tasty.
3.8 Very balanced, creamy oatmeal stout set apart by some nice residual malt sweetness and a subtle hint of ’Christmas’ spices. I like this more than regular Lefthand Milk, but would be a push if the nitro LH was available (this is a good compliment).
3.3 bottle... light black body with a medium tan head, two finger cap stays for awhile... nice subtle but balanced know, roasty coffee at first but has a nice creamy body, definite oatmeal notes, as it warms the sweetness takes over losing the balance... the taste is mostly sweet, milky chocolate with a creamy finish, wish there was some coffee or roast here, finish is a bit weak, watery and flavorless... solidish oatmeal, small recommendation
