BRLO Baltic Porter

BRLO Baltic Porter

This beer style could be described as a crossing between an English Porter and a Russian Imperial Stout. Our unfiltered baltic Porter has subtle caramel and roast flavors. We are pretty sure that’s how Katharina the Great liked her beer!

3.4 Greyish-yellow small head; orange-shot brown, almost black beer. Dark malts' galore, dark sweet bread, Pumpernickel, chocolate, - smells like a Dunkler Bock. Bitter-sweet, with again lots of Pumpernickel bread. Bitter chocolate, liquorice, roast. Feels better bodied than it probably is. Good carbonation, bit slick. I Flüssiges Pumpernickel /I ? Whatever, IMHO this is closer to Dunkler Bock than to Porter, Baltic or other. I Thanks to Joren! /I
3.4 Bottle at BRLO taproom, Berlin, 11/07/19. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a well presented tan covering. Nose is burnt toffee, brown sugars, dark malts, cocoa powder. Taste comprises mellow roast, chocolate, leather, cocoa dusting, dried fruits. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Passable Bal-Tick ... a little thin and lacking depth though.
3.5 Rocky off white head left a froth on a dark brown body. Malt, chocolate & caramel aroma. Medium bodied, nicely balanced over the tongue with a clean back. Malt, liquorice, chocolate, berry & caramel tastes with a lightly hopped finish. It's a nice drinker.
3.2 Mørk brun farge med off-white skum. Lukter malt, karamell. karamell, sjokolade og litt kaffe i smak. Januar 2019
3.7 Pours clear black, mahogany lacing foam head. Aroma is malty, roast, coffee notes. Taste is same, light fruit tones and chocolate. Nice. (Velp 2103)
3.7 330ml bottle. Very dark brown, small off-white head, good retention. Aroma of roasted malts dried fruit and coffee. Taste is sweet malty, dried fruits, roast, some coffee, chocolate creeps up on you to give a more mild note. Decent bitterness in the finish with dried fruits. Good, a little underrated.
3.0 una cerveza porter aceptable
3.4 Bottled, 330ml from Beer52, Edinburgh. Very dark brown with beige head. This proved to be a relatively sweetish beer, fruity, quite plummy in character. There is a note of syrup in this along with caramel and milky coffee. Sultana in the close. It's fine.
3.5 Dark brown colored beer with a small white cup. Taste of sweet chocolate, dried fruit, caramel, (roast) malts. You can taste nice bitterness in the aftertaste.
3.3 Bottle (as Winter Porter). Very dark brown, average to large and mostly diminishing light brown head. Moderate to full, malty and sweetish aroma, light caramel/toffee, light roasted malt and licorice. Body is medium to full, malty and lightly sweetish - sweetish flavor, light caramel/toffee, light roasted malt, light licorice, light hoppyness. Finish is average, malty and lightly sweetish, faint - light caramel/toffee, light roasted malt and licorice. light hoppyness, faint alcohol. OK BP with light roastiness - not too sweet.
3.5 (Rate 24/11/20: 7-4-8-3-15 = 3.7) Very dark brown pour with beige head; fine retention. Aroma is easy accessible, roast malts, caramel, sweet chocolate. Taste is medium sweet, with a long mild dark bitter finish, lasting (and developing) until aftertaste. Soft carbonation. Quite easy but attractive medium strong porter. Well made. (Re-rate 22/08/22: 6-3-7-3-14 = 3.3) Rather clear ruby dark-brown pour with beige head; mediocre retention. Aroma is soft this time; roast malts, faint chocolate. Taste starting moderate sweet, developing into a mild bitter-sweet aftertaste. Seems as all senses are less this time, leading to a substantially lower rate. Given rate is an average.
3.8 Dark brown-red, short beige head low during. Aromas of roasted malt, coffee-chocolate, prune, honey and spices. Taste is like, roasted with honey and spices, dry fruits, fruity and grassy notes, a hint of tea. Nice.
3.5 Bottle, huge thanks rauchbierlover! Almost pitch black, off white head. Dry sweetish aroma, vague dry caramel, unattractive but not bad either. Taste.... dry lean caramel, not much else, dark malts, syrupy, Okay overall, some dry sugar, dunno, okay beer, good even, not more.
2.9 Donker bruin bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is licht bitterzoet en helaas ietwat waterig met iets van karamel, geroosterd brood en iets van hooi.

3.4 Bottle @ Parents. Appearance: pours clear red-brown amber with good soapy off-white head and lacing. aroma/taste: barley, bread, caramel, light chocolate, light dark fruit and light grassy/herbal notes. palette: strong malty aroma, average carbonation, medium body, medium to notable sweetness, somewhat balanced by a light to medium bitterness, average duration, light sweet finish and a watery texture. Overall: ok smooth sweet porter
2.9 Relatively sweet porter. Stronger than it tastes so beware. Rather thin and little head. Pretty average.
3.9 A dark and dry beer, with a very light coffee flavor and very light aroma. Excellent appearance, but light in flavor.
4.0 Lovely beer. Nice burn on the after.
1.8 Liquide translucide marron avec mousse importante. Nez inexistant. En bouche, c'est légèrement torréfié café et une fin amère assez courte. Sans intérêt !
3.2 Bottle from Beer 52. Dark pour with no real head, chocolate, some coffee with a slight bitter finish. Decent
4.5 Lovely.
3.6 Clear, dark red brown, light beige froth. Dark, malty aroma, chocolate, dark caramel, a little coffee. Caramel and coffee flavour, late roasted notes. Sweet, quite drinkable. Earlier Rating: 12/9/2016 Total Score: 2 Cloudy brown, small light beige head. Malty, caramely aroma. Caramel and brown sugar flavour. Has some roasted notes and something like cola. Not my idea of a Baltic Porter.

3.1 Portee entre una ale británica y una porter con poco sabor a café y de textura ligera. No es petrolera poco densa de espuma muy correcta y agradable es una cerveza fácil de beber y para cualquier komento además el grado alcoholico acompaña
3.5 On tap at The Castle, pours black with a small brown head. Aroma reveals notes of liquid chocolate... maybe a hint of vanilla too. Flavour is soft and velvety, with fairly dry cocoa and light toasted malt. Cocoa-y on the finish. Good stuff.
