Brooklyn Ale

Brooklyn Ale

Formerly known as Pennant Ale '55...Brooklyn Pennant Pale Ale '55 is a classic English pale ale, brewed with the prized Maris Otter Malt and Fuggles, Willamette and Cascade hops. Maris Otter is an old malt variety that yields an incomparable biscuity flavor. Pennant is chesnut-colored, medium in body with a hearty malt palate and smooth hop finish. This beer is a tribute to Brooklyn’s world champion baseball team.

2.9 Keg at London Fields, as ’Brooklyn Pennant 8%’. I’m guessing that this is the same beer and they just got the ABV wrong. Hazy brown, still, decent off-white head. Aroma is metallic and yeasty. Body is medium, a touch of carbonation, slightly foamy in the mouth. Taste is liquorice malt, some metalllic notes. Very average.
3.1 From lescar, sheffield. Amber ale with a hardy white head. Aroma is grassy and nutty, taste is malty and dry very clean. Prickly and medium-light bodied. Refreshing pint.
1.7 For me its an OK beer love baseball so love the label, I will recommend this in the future but wouldn't die for it.
2.7 Not bad. Love the label but the beer ain’t anything to get excited about.. Golden yellow, earthy spicy hops and light biscuit and caramel. Not too exciting but well made. Probably a one timer for me."
3.3 Look here, this is exactly what you would want from an easy drink’er: a medium malty backbone, with a nice crisp hop presence. Don’t over-think this one, it is a fine session beer. Serving: Multiple pours off draft.
2.6 Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; copper pour with a thin off white head, caramel aroma, taste has caramel, vegetation, malt, light fruit.
4.0 Transfer from BA review on 10-14-12- Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance – Pours a golden orange color with a one finger white head that has a decent level of retention. Over a time of about 5 minutes the head fades to give a medium level of lacing. Smell – The aroma is heavy of a sweet caramel smell. Mixed with this aroma is a sweet toffee and a biscuit and light herbal smell. Overall, sweet, but quite pleasant. Taste – The taste begins with a bready taste with some lighter notes of caramel. The caramel flavor grows stronger as the taste advances further. As it moves on more there are other flavors of a herbal and citrus hop bitterness that subdue some of the sweeter notes well. In the end a balanced sweet/malty/bitter flavor is left on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the medium side with a carbonation level being just the same. Both are very good for the style and suit the flavors very well. Overall – Quite nice and drinkable. A fantastically easy drinking brew with a good flavors.
3.4 12oz bottle. Pours a copper color with small tan colored head. Sweet malty aroma. Sweet flavor with a touch of biscuit. Definitely malt-forward. Smooth finish. Pretty good.
3.7 Bottle from Glug Newcastle. Nice hefty biscuity flavour with a citrus aftertaste. Pretty classic, and another example of Brooklyn's versatility
3.6 Very enjoyable. English malts really make this one and I enjoy the hop of an America pale ale. Good. Not great.
3.1 Clear, copper in color with a small foamy head fading to just a ring around the edge. Little to no carbo’s. Nothing to write home as far as aroma: malts and hops with the hops having a slight lemony taste. Nothing special tatse wise, maybe a bit of biscuit. Dry Average beer. Last night I had a Samual Smith Old Brewery Pale Ale. That was a very good beer in my opinion. The reviewed beer doen’t match up very well. Drink well my friends
3.4 Tap at Lazy Dog. Pours a slightly hazy amber with a thin layer of off white head. Aroma is mostly malty with just a hint of citrus. Taste of biscuits malts with that hint of citrus popping up here too.
2.9 På tapp på Onkel Oscars i Namsos. Ravfarget med fint skum. Noe vannaktig i smaken. God tørsteslukker i varmen.
2.3 15th June 2014 Bright clear gold beer, small pale cream coloured head. Palate is light and a little dry. Modest carbonation. Smooth dry malt. Whisper of overripe fruits. Touch of bitterness before the dry finish. Duller than dishwater!
3.1 Bona cervesa, equilibrada i gustosa. Buena cerveza, equilibrada y sabrosa.
3.0 Bottle. Clear amber beer with a large off white head. Aroma is malty with notes of caramel, biscuits, herbs, nuts and some citrus. Flavor is malty with notes of caramel, biscuits, herbs, corn and nachos. Not very impressive, seems like an old bottle.
3.2 Pours a clear medium copper with a short head diminishing rapidly to nothing, no lacing. Nose is caramel and biscuity malt, very faint hops, yeast. Taste is similar. Medium body, with low persistent carbonation and a mildly bitter finish. A decent enough English Pale - nothing to distinguish it, but nothing offensive, either. I don’t regret trying it, but moving the remaining five out of my cellar might be a challenge.
3.4 Clear, light brown color. Medium off-white head. Aroma of malt , caramel and grain. Bready and caramel taste , with pleasant hoppy and dry finish.
2.8 Pours a dark golden color with hardly any head. Smells mostly like malt and slight citrus. Tastes like biscuit and honey, watery towards the end. Light and crisp. It was just ok but drinkable.
3.1 Bottle pour. Light brown with beige head. Nose is caramel and buttered toast. Hint of spruce. Taste us straight forward for style. Bready malts. Caramel. Pleasant.
2.9 From the bottle. This was a nice beer. Had a cream ale type flavor. Outside of the IPA, my favorite Brooklyn beer.
2.9 Bottle. Hazy gold/copper with a thin white head. Aroma is raisin and toffee with light earthy hops. Taste totally falls apart. Awful skunky mineral finish. Not pleasant. Spritzy mouthfeel with decent body. Everything is great except the taste.
3.0 Pours a nice light brown color with off-white head. Caramel malt, bread, and a hint of pine on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes crisp with a nice hop touch.
3.1 12 fl oz bottle, as Brooklyn Pennant Ale ’55. Orangey dark amber colour, foam white head and aroma of biscuity malt, caramel, yeast. Taste is sweetish malty, caramel, bready with a light fruity spicy bitterness. Light to medium bodied, medium carbonation, dry bitter finish. Quite OK.
3.1 Bernsteinfarbenes Bier mit geringer Schaumkrone. Geruch malzig, würzig, leicht hopfig. Geschmack malzig fruchtig, Karamell, würzig, nussig.
2.9 Pours a clear bright amber with a soft head. There is a biscut like malt aroma with a very lite hop scent. The flavor is mildly bitter with a malty bread taste. The finish is nothing special, it leaves a semi crisp and dry grain bitterness taste. Overall a good standard brew.
3.0 Had a taster of this at a liquor store a while back. Light barely aroma, very light hops with only notions of citrus. Light bitter sour finish. Brown pour.
2.9 12oz bottle of Brooklyn Pennant Ale ’55 from Wegman’s, Buffalo, NY. Golden amber with a ring of white head; caramel aroma; sweet biscuity body; and some more caramel to finish. More a Vienna lager than an EPA.
3.5 Gorgeous chestnut and caramel aroma. Great dusky red appearance. Midly cloudy. Very nutty taste with tingly taste on the tongue.
2.2 Fra fad, på Spotted Pig, som Brooklyn Spotted Pig Bitter. Håndpumpet fra cask og helt flad. Maltet. Karamel, toffee. Lav bitterhed. Vandig. Kedelig. Lod halvdelen stå.
