Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout

Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout

This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specialty roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

4.1 Dark, dark brown. Aroma of chocolate mousse, ashes, oak. Taste is bitter with a cafe mocha finish. Heavy bodied, mildish carbonation. Good chewiness. Very tasty.
3.8 Bottle of 35.5cl, in a Tumbler glass; from the fridge. Drinked @home We're in front of a nice dark stout, with a light beige head. Good carbonation. Aroma, as taste, are full of cocoa and coffee notes. Enjoyable to drink, nice full body. Creamy aftertaste.
1.2 Aroma too strong
4.1 355 ml Winter 2018 bottle. Murky dark brown with a fluffy mocha colored head. Raisins, roasted burnt malt, cocoa, toffee, espresso, dark chocolate, liquorice, dried pear. Dry roasty bitterness, some sweetness. Full bodied, slick texture, soft carbonated, dry roasty sweet and warm finish. A very nice classic Imperial Stout, very balanced and no pastry nonsense to be find here.
4.1 Thuis uit een flesje van 35,5 cl. Zwarte kleur, bruin schuim. Versie is “winter 2018”.
3.7 355 ml. bottle @ home, served in a teku glass, best before: not readable. Aroma: medium intensity aromas of back roasted malts, black coffee, roasted coffee, black chocolate. Appearance: very dark brown color with brown to light brown foam made of tiny to small bubbles which retain its size over time, low to medium head thickness, very high retention, low to medium Brussels' lacing. Too dark to know its haziness. Taste: low to medium sweetness, low to medium bitterness, low sourness. Flavors of black coffee, black chocolate, black roasted malts, roasted coffee, very subtle overtones of licorice and smoke. Very well balanced for the style, sweeter at first and increasingly bitter toward the finish. Mouthfeel: medium to high body, oily texture, low carbonation, dry finish with medium bitterness and the aforementioned flavors. Alcohol is very well hidden and it's hard to believe it has 10%ABV, the alcohol is not noticeable in the aroma or flavor and only noticeable because of its mouth and throat warming. Astringency is not noticeable. Acidity from the black malts is quite noticeable but not so high that it makes the beer not enjoyable. Overall: good appearance, good aromas and flavors of roasted malts, roasted coffee, black coffee, black chocolate. Very well balanced and rounded, a very good beer to sip and enjoy. Very good. It would be better with less acidity from the black malts, a more velvety texture and more layers of flavors.
Texture huileuse, carbonatation moyenne, faible amertume. Notes de pain grillé, légèrement résineuses, café, caramel. Finale longue portée sur le grillé.
3.9 Bottle 35,5 cl, poured into a tulip glass. Pours a cloudy very dark brown to purple with a small tan head and an aroma of chocolate, coffee, caramel, roasted malts, herbs and salt. The taste is medium sweet with a big body and a long lasting both sweet and bitter finish. Perfect!
4.2 12oz Flasche. Soso, 100? Schwarzes Bier, moussierender brauner fester hoher Schaum. Säuerliche Schokolade und Röstmalz in der Nase. Dickflüssiges Mundgefühl. Schokolade, Brandy. Röstmalz im Abgang. Lecker, aber nicht komplex genug.
4.1 Danke an DrNosha, schwarzes Bier, toller cremiger schaum, im Geruch säuerlich malzig leicht schoko, röstmalz dunkles Karamell süßlich Toffee dunkle Schokolade im Geschmack, lecker
4.1 12 oz. bottle. Black body with a brief khaki head. Smells of heavily roasted malt that steers just shy of soy sauce. Tastes of roasted malt, chocolate malt, and a fairly aggressive bitterness lending to a bitter tobacco finish. Medium heavy, but never tastes too sweet or boozy. Excellent all around and a reminder that stouts don't need to be viscous sugary monstrosities.
Textura semi-oleosa, cuerpo denso y carbonatación medio-ligera. Genialmente acabada.
1.0 This beer was disgusting. My mate cam said to try it because it was 100/100. I've since come to realise my mate cam is bonkers. Not the good bonkers either, the weird sadistic bonkers.
3.8 think head. creamy coffee with chocolate and a little bit spicy. the best? i don’t know. but pretty damn good.
3.8 35.5cl fles. Helder donker bruin kleur, fijne romige bruine schuimkraag. De geur is chocolade en cacao. Smaak is zoet, chocolade, cacao en karamel. Vol body en veel koolzuur
4.6 black pour thin tan foam sweet cocoa and coffee flavored stout with cocoa palate easy carbonation its a delicious stout
3.5 12 oz bottle. Pours black brown with a dense tan head. Chocolate smells. Nice chocolate tastes with a fair stout chalkiness balancing well into a long bitter finish. Nicely done.
3.6 Bittersweet chocolate flavor which isn't the greatest. What makes this good is the smooth creamy silky mouthfeel and full body. When really cold it is incredibly smooth and malty.
4.6 very tasty, even back to the years of 2014-15.
3.9 Adding in my 300 Beers To Try ticks because I want to see how they impact my stats and some of them I will never see again. Will however re-rate them when practical. Bottle at what is now The Flintgate in Wesybridge.
4.8 Strong and tasty
4.5 12 oz bottle from Beer Peddlers. Black pour, small beige head, settles quickly. Aroma is bitter roast malts, dark chocolate, small hit of coffee. Taste blends it all together perfectly, chocolate, coffee, cocoa. Slick and smooth, with a bit of heat.
3.3 Aroma : Deeply roasted chocolate maltiness, double espresso coffee, black treacle, hint of liquorice, some spicy burnt whisky oak barrell note and an earthy touch. Taste : As aroma. Intense rich fullest of full bodies. Spicy & burnt chocolate/coffee bitterness throughout. Very pronounced alcoholic heat in the finish overdose somewhat for me detracting from the other robust flavours
4.2 Chocolate, malty, milky aroma. Black and viscous with big thick brown head. Taste is chocolate, coffee, creamy, heat, and light tobacco.
