Brooklyn Blast!

Brooklyn Blast!

We brew our beer in New York, about halfway between the hop fields of the Pacific Northwest and the hop fields of Kent, England. So we use earthy English hops to build the foundation and bright citrusy American hops to bring the noise in the rambunctious IPA we call BLAST! British Maris Otter and German Pilsner malts lends solidity, balance and bready flavors to brace up a beer that’s beautifully hoppy, strangely quaffable and oddly compelling. Minerally hop bitterness is followed by a shock wave of flavor and aroma. You won’t even know what hit you.

Malts: Scottish Floor-malted Maris Otter, German Pilsner Malt

Hops: Willamette, Magnum, Cascade, Fuggle, Aurora, Zythos, Bravo, Simcoe, Sorachi Ace, Amarillo, Experiment 6300

3.9 Bottle. Pours hazy golden, with little head. Tastea pine, citrus, caramel. Very hoppy and dank. I like it.
2.8 Bottle @ Ballbreaker. Pours cloudy and with almost no head. Citrus, metal, pine and grapefruit. Misses some sweetness.
3.9 Blonde légèrement cuivrée, belle carbo, petit collet persistant. Aromes bien marqués sur le résineux, agrumes et caramel. Amertumes sèches sur une finale resineuse
3.6 Bottle from The Food Emporium, NYC. Bold amber body with medium head. Nose is hoppy, rhinds, fruits. Taste is similar of hops, some caramel and sweet rinds taste. Pretty nice.
2.5 Slightly hazy gold with persistant creamy beige head. Full body with medium-high carbonation. Aroma: citrusy hops, bready wort, grassy herb. Taste: pine and citrus hops, bready malt, wet stone, sharp dirty resinous bitterness.
3.1 Smell of hops, honey. Amber colour, white head. Aroma of hops, spruce, honey, alcohol. Sweet, medium bitter. Flat carbon, slightly oily texture.
3.7 Bottle. Aroma is way bigger than the flavour. The aroma is complex, with every non-New Zealand hop flavour being accounted for. The flavour is interesting, with stuff like tobacco and medicine, and pot, but it doesn't match up to the aroma.
3.6 Bottle at Harrys, Uddevall. Semi hazy golden, huge white head with yellow nuances, lots of lacings. Aroma is soft sweet malt with floral and tropical notes, citrus and flowers, as well as some dough and bread. Taste is medium sweet with lychee, flowery hoppy feel, slight peppery note and a dryness in the finish. Medium body with very rounded mouth feel, low carbo. Solid!
3.8 330ml served in a pint glass. Pours a slightly hazy golden color forming a medium but resistant light yellow head that leaves some lingering lacings in the glass. Nose os very fruity, very citric. Strong notes of grapefruit and zest. Some notes of pine, passion fruit, herb and sweet pale malts. Hints of caramel. Taste is slightly sweet in upfront. Strong notes of sweet pale malts, grapefruit, orange zest. Touches of pine and passion fruit. Medium bitterness for the style. Not the type of very caramel IIPA. Full body. Medium carbonation. Grassy, piney, citrus aftertaste. Good persistence. Good drinkability. Actually, you quite "light" to a 8.4% ABV. I was expecting it to be slightly sweeter and bitterer but although another great Ale from Brooklyn.
4.0 12oz bottle, slight hazy golden color, with a white head, nice zesty candied lemon, grapefruit peel nose with some light lemon marmalade, floral citrus, leafy hop accents, and a subtle honeyed pale, toasted malt note in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a warmth zesty, spritzy candid lemon, grapefruit rind, good flowery citrus, leafy, grassy hoppy character, with some lemon marmalade, faint honeyed pale, toasted malt, lemon pie crust flavours, leading towards a warming zesty citrusy, good lingering citrus, leafy hop bitterness finish.
3.3 355ml bottle. Murky, orangey dark golden to amber colour with small to average, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Slightly perfumed, floral, hoppy aroma, notes of petals with flavours hard to elaborate further than "somehow purple", cautious citrusy fruity hints. Taste is slightly sweet malty with an almond touch, floral and slightly citrusy hoppy, moderate bitterness, notes of lemon, a touch of lime.
3.3 Bottle. It pours cloudy orange with a small white head. Loads of caramel malts and some butter in the aroma mixed with fruity hops and marmalade. Sweet malty flavor with some citrus hoppy notes. Some fruity notes. Some alcoholic notes. Not very good.
4.0 Nose has lots: caramel malt/mince pie sweetness; honey/spice of a Belgian tripel; somewhat piney fruit (orange juice; apricot; unripe mango). In the mouth, a tea-y/bread-y flavour; slightly fizzy, but also slightly cream-y afterwards. A slightly bitter citrus/apricot hop hum to finish. A little too balanced in favour of the malts (despite the variety of hops put into it), but very enjoyable. Put me in mind of Porterhouse’s “Brainblasta”, which is no bad thing, but that comparison may be off (and either way, this has way more hops in it). Feels more like a 7%-er than 8.4%, which is arguably quite a good thing.
3.3 On tap it has an amber color with a medium head. Aroma of tropical fruits and some malts. Taste has some hops, pine and some resin. Beer falls a bit flat for me.
3.6 Flarra. Svag doft lite frukt o lite metall. Smaken hyfsad men något tunn. Det finns frukt o lite gräs men för lite. Det bästa med ölen är faktist efterbeskan som är bra balanserad med lång eftersmak.
3.8 How: bottle Appearance: pine, bread, caramel, lemon peel, some tropical fruits. Palate: full body, average carbonation.
3.7 Pours a nice deep golden amber color. Aromas of hops/hops/citrus. Strong hop flavors with malts and a spicy finish.
3.7 On tap at Harry’s Seafood in Wilmington DE. Clear pale gold with a one-finger off-white head and nice lace. Aromas of earth, tea, biscuit, pine and pear. Woodsy flavors including earthy hops and leaf, bready malts, pepper and pine notes. medium body, moderate carbonation, creamy mouthfeel and a crisp hoppy finish.
4.2 Bottle from Bruisin’ Ales. Nice citrus aroma with pine notes. Citrus and resin taste with caramalt. Sweet with moderately bitter finish.
3.7 Citrus pine aroma in a golden amber pour. A nicely balanced brew with the hops and malts in perfect harmony. Finish is the same - and decidedly ’moreish’.
3.4 British Maris Otter and German Pilsner malts lends solidity, balance and bready flavors to brace up a beer that’s beautifully hoppy, strangely quaffable and oddly compelling.
3.5 Flasche 0,355l: Golden, ganz leichte Trübung, wenig grobporiger Schaum; in der Nase recht trocken, frische Hopfenaromen, Zitronenschale, Grapefruit-Zest, leichte süße Malzigkeit, Getreide, wird mit der Zeit süßer; im Körper leichte Süße, kräftige eher trockene Hopfenaromen, kräftige Würze, leicht alkoholisch, sehr cremig, deutliche Kohlensäure, Grapefruit-Zest; langer angenehmer süßlich-würzigerer Nachgang mit mehr Hopfenbitterkeit
3.8 Bottle@o’leary Nyköping. Hazy golden color with lacing white head. Aroma has tropical fruits, apricot, citrus. Taste is malty with quite long bitter aftertaste. Flavors of apricot, grape, pine, spices and malt. Not the bitterest imperial IPA but tasty one still.
3.8 Bottle at home. Pours golden orange with a thin head. Citrus and earthy hops. Medium body. Bitter sweet finish. Good stuff.
3.6 Pours hazy pale golden with a medium white head that quickly disapears. Nose is tropical fruits and citrus. Aromas are tropical fruits and citrus, caramel, with a alcoholic note. Average/low carbonation, with a medium body. Long bitter and fruity finish. A rather well-done imperial IPA.
3.7 Bottle from whole foods nyc. Orange and muted passionfruit is what I got. A little pepper and slightly sugary. The difference with this is the otter Maris malt which gives this mor of a Pilsner backbone. Not bad.
