Brooklyn Local 1

Brooklyn Local 1

In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the full golden color you'll find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavors. Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of our special yeast. To create this beer, we use the old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth. Enjoy it locally or globally, as an aperitif or with your favorite dishes. It is particularly nice with spicy seafood and with fine cheeses.

Kanon bira, helt enkelt.
4.1 This is one of the better Belgian style beers IMO.....especially for a domestic Belgian. Has some decent tart fruity flavors with a mild to medium hop tone in the end. Lots of carbonation, so with the cork I actually was able to drink this in about 3 different sittings and lasted about 4-5 days in the fridge. So, as a little skeptic that I was in trying this for the price, I got my money's worth for sure. I would get this again in the future, but would probably share it the next time around.
4.0 750 ml corked and caged bottle. Pours a cloudy honey gold color. Dense, rocky beige head. Rich, honeyish, sweet fruit malt nose. Yeasty, bready, apricot notes. Zesty sweet fruit flavors. Nuances of wheat, clove, peach, apricot, sweet citrus and lemon zest. Delicious and true to its Belgian influences.
3.5 The larger bottle is worth it. Has a frothiness that makes it easy to drink.
3.7 Bottle. Hazy golden color with white head. Aroma is peach, apricots, some fresh yeasts, some barrel sugars (?) Taste is peach, apricots, yeasty funk, some tartness, some booze. Silky mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Solid!

4.2 uklart gyllent med høyt og kompakt skum. høy, krydder, banen og noe estere preger både duft og smak. oljete og tykk munnfølelse.
3.7 I poured it from the bottle into a glass. It pours a hazy golden with a huge, white head. The aroma is clove, spice, and fruit. The taste is the same with a little bit of hops, banana, brown sugar, and alcohol. The alcohol is noticeable. It wasn't super smooth. There was a lot of flavor though.
3.9 From Mar 2008 I got bottles in trade with nutbrown & yobdoog. Thanks Alan & Trevor! This pours from 750ml caged and corked bottle a slightly hazy gold with a 1 finger head of foam and some good lacing. The smell is all spicy and fruity with some clove, pepper, yeast, and a touch of banana. Nice. The taste is very smooth drinking for the alcohol but it's packed with flavour. First thing I notice is the spice from clove and pepper followed by a nice yeasty presence and some banana(very light) and a bit of candy sugar. I like the finish here as it has a slight citric kick to it making for a very pleasing aftertaste and some nice balance. I really can't say that the abv is obvious at all and that makes for some great drinkability. It has a light mouthfeel to it and the carbonation is medium. I like sipping on this BSPA and I'm very glad I have another bottle. Well worth the effort to get some so please, do so. ;^)
3.9 A third from bottle at Ushers. Clear golden. Nose is sweet fruits, ripe banana, citrus. Tastes bittersweet, light spicy yeasty, fruits, smooth. Quite sweet but excellent example of Belgian strong ale outside Belgium.
3.8 Aroma: malt, fruits, spices Taste: malt, dried fruits, notes of yeast and spices. Balanced and drinkable
3.8 Pours golden and slightly hazy with a thick and creamy offwhite head. Rich floral aroma of belgian yeast, brown sugar and pears. Full body, creamy feel, average carbonation.Taste is malty and sweet with caramel, ripe apples and some lingering alcohol. Long lasting and quite boozy finish.

4.0 Almost as good as Orval
3.5 Bottle from systembolaget. Pours a golden colour beer with a large head. Fruity and yeasty with spices and herbs. Dry finish.
4.4 Pours golden, clear. Fantastic aroma which is dominated by yeast and fruit. The taste is well balanced between fruit, sweetness, yeasty sourness and bitterness at the end. A strong pale ale, not distinguishable from a Tripel. Very good!
3.8 Bottle at ecbf 2017. Pours hazy golden orange, nose is banana, citrus, yeasty, taste is similar, juicy.
4.1 Bottle. Slightly hazy golden color with a huge foamy white head. Complex, sour aroma of yeast and wheat with notes of apple and apricot. Balanced sour and bitter taste with a sour finish. Medium to full body. Lively carbonation.
3.5 Clear golden color with big white frothy head that stays long.Aroma of florals, hops, belgian yeast, malts and alcohol. Taste is sweet with belgian style yeast, combined with floral hoppiness. Alcohol finish. Low carbonation. Taste a bit too alcohol for me and pricey but overall very enjoyable.
3.5 Bottle. Pours golden with medium fluffy-sticky white head. Aroma: hay, yeasty, pale berries, melon. Taste: sweet, mellow, yeasty, caramel, flourish, sweet gooseberry. Medium body. OK.
3.4 Bottle from Alko, Helsinki. Pours cloudy bronze with a big frothy head. The aroma features grainy maltiness, floral hoppiness, fruitiness and Belgian yeastiness. Taste is medium to heavily sweet initially, later becoming slightly drier but staying sweet nonetheless; hop bitterness is low. Pale grainy maltiness provides the platform for Belgian yeast and fruitiness displaying especially orange. Some floral hop flavours appear as well. The palate is medium to full bodied, smooth and low in carbonation. Malt sweetness is a bit too prominent here; it does not give room for other Belgian dimensions.
3.4 750 ml bottle from Systembolaget. Golden with a large white head. Aroma of caramel and alcohol. Taste reflects the aroma. Medium body. Low to medium bitterness.
3.5 75cl bottle. golden color. white head. floral notes, saison yeast, peppery. good.
3.3 Golden colour with big white foam. Aroma is somewhat sweet fruity and belgian yeast. Medium bodied, fizzy carbonation, rather long finish. Quite sweet from the malts and sugar not much bitterness though some dominating in the end. Alcohol very well hidden. Easy to drink.
3.1 Cloudy golden body, white head. Aroma has some yeasty fruits, alcohol, mellow maltiness. Some tangy orange zest in flavour. I liked this years ago when this came to market, now it feels quite bad.
