Brooklyn Local 2

Brooklyn Local 2

Here in Brooklyn we’ve combined European malt and hops, Belgian dark sugar, and raw wildflower honey from a New York family farm to create Brooklyn Local 2. Our special Belgian yeast adds hints of spice to the dark fruit, caramel, and chocolate flavors. After 100% bottle re-fermentation, this ale reveals a marvelous dry complexity, enjoyable by itself or at the dinner table.

3.7 Hazy brown/orange liquid, small head. Average strength aroma of malt, with hints of wood. Medium body, strong carbonation. Taste is sweet, with hints of iron.
3.8 Brune bien foncée, faible carbo, petit collet.
3.5 The cork to the 750 ml bottle came out with a distinct pop. Great appearance, a very dark body with a red tinge through the light and a frothy beige top, long lasting. I smell yeast, cane sugar and a little floral. A great entry. The taste is less so. I get some maltiness and a light touch of ripe fruit. It finishes with a surprising dry bitterness. You could do worse with a Belgian style, just not real thrilling here.
3.9 I poured it from the bottle into a glass. It pours a red and brown color with a big, beige head and lacing. The aroma is brown sugar, dark fruit, and Belgian yeast. The taste is raisin, prune, date, brown sugar, honey, and spice. It’s got a nice, subtle sweetness. It drinks much smoother than the alcohol content would suggest. This is a very nice beer.
3.9 A brown color with a beige head. The aroma contains some honey, caramel, chocolate, floral notes, and raisins. The flavor is slightly sweet but mostly dry with some caramel, spiced fruit, honey, A bit of booze maybe like a brandy show up in there. Overall this is a nice Belgian strong.
3.6 Dark mahogany pour with light white tannish head... aroma of brown sugar, dark fruits, Belgian malts, nuts... flavor is more dry than you'd expect, very light and yeasty, dark Belgian malts, dark fruits, lots of funky yeast on the palate... decent
3.3 07/10/16. Brooklen event at Wine Rack, West Byfleet. Initial strong and sour aroma. A sugary sweetness then develops. Alcohol evident when swirled. Dark brown with a red tint. Off white medium sized head. Surprisingly light bodied. Sweet: spoces and fruit. Dry finish. But surprisingly bland. Just has no depth to it.
3.5 Bottle at home in Chevy Chase. Nice dark brown body with medium head. Nose is toasty, spicy, caramel. Taste is caramel, malts, coffee - and quite sweet. Spices in there too. Pretty good.
4.3 Big bottle from surdyks with commonmac and Qponnagy. Dark mahogany with small white head. Funky dark fruit nose. tart and funky, yeast, high sugar . Dark fruit very prevalent. Very good .
3.8 75cl bottle shared at home. Hazy dark brown with a medium beige head. Medium to full body with low to moderate carbonation. Quite sweet with herbal bitter tones. Caramel, roasted malts, brown sugar, some coffee and chocolate, spices and herbs. Quite nice.
3.7 Corked/caged bomber into tulip glass, very deep ruby-amber color with tan head. Aroma notes of caramel malt, spicy Belgian yeast and some light dried fruits. Taste adds more Belgian spice character, clove, white pepper, brown sugar and light cocoa towards the end. Medium-heavy body, moderate-heavy carbonation, lively, tad sticky with sweet light cocoa finish. Pretty solid Belgian strong, drinks much lighter than its ABV.
3.7 bottle sample from local bottle shop. hazy darker brown colour with a tanned head. nose of sweet caramel, caramel malts, spices, cloves, dried prunes, belgian yeast, spiced alcoholic notes. quite full bodied.
3.7 Very nicely done. My bottle poured with a big head. The aroma had the spices and sweetness. I think the honey mellowed it well. Very easy drinking.
3.9 Pours dark brown with medium brownish white head. Sweet malty flavour with sweetness and some bitterness in the mouth and mostly sweet in the finish. Some caramel also? Very tasty
3.6 75cl bottle @ Shrewsbury Beer Share, March 16. Thanks to Mike for this, the final beer of the night. Pours deep hazy brown with tan head. Aroma is sweet molasses. Taste is dark fruits, brown sugar, molasses and manuka honey.. quite a complex intriguing beer.
2.8 Cork and caged 0.75 litre bottle at the April 2016 Shrewsbury Beer Geek meeting and shared between 5 of us: cheers Mike for this one. Red/Brown body, beige topping. Sweet molasses rule this brew, some dark fruits in the aroma but they get lost in the flavour as the molasses take over completely. My sweet tooth liked it, but I would have prefered to be able to pick up the honey and other ingredients as I sipped the beer, not just having a malty sugar rush.
4.7 Excelente cerveja de estilo belga. Aroma e sabor maltados. Coloração marrom escura.
4.1 Bottle. Large off-white head. Deep brown color. Nice taste, some caramel.
4.6 Aroma: Belgian yeast, caramel, raisin, clove, Appearance: dark amber with a beige head Taste: medium sweetness, medium bitterness, Palate: medium body, sticky, lively carbonation, long finish Delicious
3.7 Lecker auf jeden Fall. Aber was ist es denn nur? BSA, DAA oder einfach nur ein Dubbel Style SA? Wer weiss? Wer weiss? The Big Bottle von Martins Weindepot in Kiel, 12 Euroletten.
3.3 Huge, fine & dense cream-beige head, with lace over deep chestnut- coloured beer. Molasses, brown candi sugar, but also leafy, woody and spicy. Yeastesters. Chocolate, wood flavours. Caramel & candi sugar are there in the mouth - more even in the finish, but they do not dominate totally. Hint at spearmint - a bit like a milkchocolate version of After Eight. Medium bodied, slick, well-carbonated. Still less MF than the average Belgian-made strong ales. Aftertaste unveils the honey. A tad too sweet to my taste;
3.8 Seriously every bottle is slightly different but it’s very delicious. It pairs well with a fatty meal such as ribeye steak, marinated in crown and pineapple.
4.0 Bomber to a pint. Dark Amber brown with ample off white head. Sweet honey and orange zest. Layered spices and sweet clean finish. Very nice.
3.9 Opaque brown hue with minimal beige head. Robust malt, plum, caramel, dried berries, vanilla, and brown sugar aroma. Full bodied. Immense flavour consisting of the previously mentioned aromatic notes as well as black liquorice and a dark candied fruit finish. Excellent.
3.9 Deep brown body, two finger of white head. Aroma of belgian ale, dried raisins, belgian yeast, candy sugar (maybe the honey from the recipie?), mid alcholic notes. Flavours of dried raisins, lots of malt complexity, alcohol, nice bitter backbone. Medium sweet warm finish, bitter and end dry.
3.7 Refrigerated 75 cl brown bottle poured into a glass. Medium brown with small beige head. Aroma is dark candy sugar, medium body, medium carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is dark candy sugar, dark fruit, and some dark malt.
