Brooklyn Oktoberfest

Brooklyn Oktoberfest

Brooklyn Oktoberfest was introduced in 2000. It is true to the original German style, full-bodied and malty, with a bready aroma and light, brisk hop bitterness. When Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria wanted to celebrate his wedding engagement in 1810, he did what any good Bavarian prince would--he threw a beer festival. Bothe the festival and the special beer served there became known as Oktoberfest. Brewed from the finest German malt and hops, Brooklyn Oktoberfest is true to the original style, fullbodied and malty, with a bready aroma and light, brisk hop bitterness.

3.6 12oz bottle poured into Dimpled Mug at 40°. Color is a bright clear amber with good carbonation and a thin tight off white head. Aroma is slightly sweet and malty. It has a lighter medium body with a crisp mouthfeel. Flavor comes in with crisp malt giving a bready note backed by spicy hops and nice bitterness. Aftertaste is clean letting the hop spice stand out. Overall it a very crisp clean and easy drinking Märzen, I would happily drink more.
2.2 Amber, traditional lager. Not bad. Doesn’t worth second try. Full of carbon dioxide.
3.0 Pour is a clear tan with a large white head. Aroma is typical caramel and toasted white bread. Flavor is about the same but very light and a bit watery. Typical oktoberfest but everything here is a bit on the light side. Like most from this brewer, decent but nothing that is going to set the world on fire.
3.5 Bottle poured a clear orange amber with a small lasting creamy amber head. Aromas of caramel, graininess and light toasted malt. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a smooth dry finish. Flavors of caramel, earthiness and light graininess with a smooth dry lingering earthy caramel finish.
2.6 On bottle. Scent: Malty. Taste: Yeasty, round, banana. Texture: Sweet, medium low carbonation.
3.0 Sample at Ølfestival København 2018, Copenhagen. An amber coloured beer with an off-white head. Aroma and flavour of malt, caramel, hops, straw, dry and with a bitter finish.
3.4 355l bottle. Pours amber with medium sized white head. Sweet malt mostly, with light bitterness. Dry finish. Nice.
3.7 12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear copper color with a thick, slightly off-white head. A little too much for me for an Oktoberfest. Aroma is sweet from the malt and a little toasted. Medium body. Flavor mimics the aroma - sweet and toasted. Finish is more of the sweetness. I like this one, cut back on the foam a little.
3.8 Bottle, 33 cl. Pleasant, well balanced, not too sweet, moderate carbonation and finish. Nice amber colour.
3.0 How: Bottle. Where: Systembolaget. Appearance: Amber/brown colour with an off-white head. Aroma: Malt, fruit, caramel. Body: Medium body and carbonation. Flavour: Malt, caramel, fruit.
3.7 Surprisingly, this was my favorite okto of the recent mixed pack I bought, as it had a German brewer and Victory in there. Just had a good solid flavor that wasn't too sweet.
3.6 12 oz bottle. Pours a nice amber with a tight off-white head. Big caramel, cereal, malt smells. Good backbone of rye bread tastes with a dry mouthfeel and an astringent finish. Mild carbonation and great balance. Lots of lacing. Very nice fest beer.
3.3 It pours reddish cooper and clear. Head retention is moderate. There aromas feature bread and bread crusts. There is a very low background fruit like apple. It has flavors that feature toast with some floral and herbal notes. There is also a slight bit of apple in the background. It has a smooth texture with moderate carbonation. It finishes somewhat dry. Overall, this is a toasty combination with floral and herbal notes.
3.4 Flaska från SB. Smak och doft av humle, malt, karamell, citrus, säd, bröd med toner kakor. Fin sötma, rund och len, fruktig, bra balans och beska.
3.3 12 oz bottle courtesy of my mother in law. BB Dec 20 printed on bottleneck. The pour is a clear golden copper with a ton of carbonation bubbles building up to a one inch light tan head. The aroma is caramel malt, nice toasty bread and some light floral. The taste is the malt, which has some apple sweetness to the caramel bread toast. Finish is dry with the floral. The palate is medium bodied with active carbonation and the softly Sweet floral finish. Solid take.
2.5 Flaska från SB. Klar kopparfärgad med ett vitt skum. Dofter av malt, karamell och gräs. Smakinslag av karamell, kryddor, frukt och malt. Liten beska. Medel mot liten kropp.
3.1 Long a favorite of mine, I burned out on Oktoberfests of any kind a couple of years ago, too many in too short a period. Ready to get back in the saddle. I have a Brooklyn Brewery version in hand that was picked up singly at the nearest craft beer shop today. The top is popped and I pour into my .47 liter New Belgium snifter. It delivers a nice amber-copper liquid along with a fleeting light tan top. Plenty of decent carbonation in any case. The nose is caramel and wheat bread. A drink gives up grain, malt and a mild bitterness. Not bad, I believe there are others that are better.
3.4 Aroma of toasted malt and some sweetness. Flavor is pils malt, slight spice, and caramel with minor hop finish. Good carbo. This holds true to the Okto style; good example of it. Maybe just slightly hoppier than typical. Pretty nice beer.
2.5 355ml bottle from Systembolaget. Clear copper colored, medium size white head that disappears quickly and completely, poor lacing. Leafy and bread malty aroma, earthy and caramel. Light bodied, fairly crisp mouthfeel, soft carbonation. The taste is watery, caramel, earthy and grass. Not too much going on here. Dryish finish that is gentle sweet and just with a tiny bitterness.
4.5 This is a real Oktoberfest tasting beer!
2.9 Might have liked their summer ale over this....but rated the same. Like summer brews, oktoberfests are hit or miss for me. This was on the miss side for me......close one though. I liked the caramel malty flavor, but the balance was not quite right for me. Probably prefer Sammy's Oktoberfest over this, but only sampled them each once. This was bought on sale/clearance for $1, and was a few months past the "good by" date....so may give another chance next season while fresh. Guess it was worth the buck to try.
3.1 Pours chestnut with thick, foamy head. Aroma is caramel and dried fruit. Taste is raisin and toffee warming to some spicy. A good marzen.
0.5 Why converted???? Any explanation??????? This is not an Octoberfest, it has no malt taste, has too much hops and really has a bad taste. That is too much truth to offer??? One more point, this "Brooklyn" beer, while being sold as some "exclusive" beer, is HORRIBLE. WAY TOO MUCH hops in all brews. YUUUUCK!!!!!!!!!!!! horrible. Admin converted to private rating
3.7 Aroma and flavor is bread/malts, light hops and a mix of mild citrus and mostly smooth in the finish.
3.6 12 ounce bottle. Brilliant copper color. Large rocky beige head. Toasted malt nose with a sweet, biscuity nuance. Lightly sweet, caramel flavor upfront. A hint of spicy, grainy malt and grassy hops. Though it looks, smells and tastes like a Marzen Bier, it lacks the depth and character of its German lineage.
2.8 Okay October beer. But there are many more that are better. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.
3.3 This is my first time coming across this seasonal release from Brooklyn Brewery, and although still very good, this is isn't in the same category of greatness as many of Brooklyn's other beers. From the bottle, this poured an average reddish copper color with white foam, par for the style. Aroma is a faint unsweet caramel malt with interesting notes of straw (apparently from hops) and raisiny fruit (apparently from malt). Flavor is a moderately sweet caramel malt and warm bread, with a touch of noble hop bitterness and cool hoppy aftertaste. A true lager, but nothing too impressive. Still, enjoyable and plenty worthy of any authentic Oktoberfest celebration.
3.0 Helt ok. Drack den på tågstationen i NY, släckte min törst men inget jag lär leta efter igen.
3.4 Bottle into tulip. Looks like it should w thin head. Musty biscuit aroma. Malt forward biscuit taste w some metallic notes.
3.7 12floz bottle, bottling code smudged, $1.75 unit cost. Bright copper in color with a thin beige head as poured in a pint glass. This octoberfest has more of a butterscotch aroma than compared to others. This is a pretty good version of the style. It's true to it and is devoid of flaws, just a solid medium-bodied, German caramel malt lager.
