3.2 I had it from the bottle. The taste is sweet malt, bread, spice, and alcohol. It’s smooth and has a hoppy hint to it. It stayed drinkable as it warmed. This was pretty good.
3.2 Tap@klubi. Amber color with a medium white head. Taste is malty with quite long a bit sweet aftertaste. Flavors of malt, citrus and some fruity hops.
2.8 Brown clear body, qhite head. Aroma has some chocolate and metally malt. Bit bread. Flavour adds berries and nuta and more malt. Quite sweet.
A oublier.
2.8 8/X/15 - 12Fl. Oz. bottle @ Uncle Babe’s Burger Bar (Gent) - BB: 29/X/15 (2015-1463) Clear reddish brown beer, small creamy beige head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: sweet, dried fruits, some caramel, malty. MF: soft carbon, medium to light body. Taste: very malty, metallic, green banana, bit watery, more metallic, bit fruity. Aftertaste: slightly bitter, malts, sourish touch, bit nutty, some toast, watery, caramel, little roasted. Pretty light and watery for a winter ale, if you ask me.
3.2 Tap@opusk. Brown amber clear. Malty aroma, slight nutty toffeish, with just a hint of herbs. Med bodied, med bittered, malty bit esb-y. Soft smooth. Clean ok, bit weakly flaviured, ordinary though. -- bb
3.2 12oz Flasche. Dunkelbraune Farbe mit beigem dünnen Schaum. Das Bier duftet nach Malz, Toffee und Trockenobst. Geschmack ist süsslich malzig. Etwas alkoholisch.
3.0 355ml bottle. Murky brown shade. Can barely manage a head. Aroma is smoky malt with some fruity character lurking. A lot of earthy toffee flavours on the tongue. Quite sweet. Suitably wintery I guess but just felt a bit lacking somehow.
3.6 Clear, rich redcopper colour; medium, cream-amber head, not very lasting; Leafy, bready, nutty. This smells like an Urbock all the way. Slightly sourish, quite leafy. Malt underneath, but hardly any sweetness, even not warming up. Dried red fruit, faintly pharmaceutical. Not really well bodied, more attenuated than Bock would be. Needed a good Brooklyn one, after the Blast(ed) disappointment.
3.4 Bottle. APPEARANCE: dark brown beer, small unstable beige head. NOSE: caramel, malty, sweet, some alcohol. TASTE: very sweet, malty, some alcohol warming feeling. Good winter beer I think. Not really my style though.
3.5 Bottle: Nice winter ale, big malt character with some dark fruit and a very nice aroma.
4.1 Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. Aroma- Has a nice hop and malt mix Appearance- This beer is copper colored with a small white head. Taste- Has a big malt flavor. Palate- A medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation. Overall- A real good beer.
3.1 Old rating. Bottle from Old Town. Pours a clear brown with a modest off-white head. Aromas of raisin, prune, molasses, cloves. Light to medium body with a thin texture. Fairly mild flavor on the palate.
3.0 Nutty, plum, dark caramel, mild roasted malt, touch of licorice, astringent finish. Flavors are a bit mild despite a promising nose, not as rich as expected for this style.
3.5 Aroma: Toffee, pecan praline, fruity esters reminiscent of fig newtons. Appearance: Rusty brown translucent pour with a foamy tan head that settles into a ring. Flavor: Thoroughly malty and somewhat sweet with lightly spiced bread and caramel; fruity esters are more dull than the nose suggests, leading to a semi-sweet finish. Palate: Full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, long finish. Overall: Some good things going on here; I only wish the flavor was as dynamic as the nose suggested.
3.4 Aroma: caramel, molasses, bread malts, winter spices, cloves. Appearance: hazy brown, small creamy, beige head. Taste: Light sweet. Palate: sweets continue, then turn slightly bitter, fizzy carbonation, medium body. Overall: nice seasonal ale, could be more intense for that ABV. Pint at The White Horse, Parson’s Green.
3.4 355ml. Bottle. Pours clear copper with tan head. Aroma caramel, sweet, brown sugar, spice, honey. Taste caramel malty sweets, little roasty bitter. Mouthfeel thin. Nice beer.
3.1 12 oz. bottle consumed at home. Pours a clear reddish copper color with a small beige head. The aroma had caramel malts, brown sugar, generally sweet, mild spices, earthy hops, and some fruit character. The flavor has more muted caramel malts, fruit, some cherry, mild spices, brown sugar, and hops. Light to medium bodied. Nothing very exciting here, but I had to rate this after having it a couple times.
3.2 Pours a clear brown beer with a medium, very fine and beige head. Smells malty (biscuit), yeasty, spicy (licorice) also has a small hint of chocolate. Tastes slightly bitter. Leaves a light palate. Some malt bitterness lingers but that is about it. mouthfeel is medium. And the alcohol tastes light. Ok beer but nothing exceptional.
2.4 Tap at Pizza Luce. Light orange brown with a thin white head. Grapenuts, floral hop, woody and malty cereal. Tastes floral and malty. Body is lighter with strong carbonated feel.
3.3 Bottle from Wholefoods Richmond, deep amber-brown with a fast-settling head and a typical roast caramel nose with hints of orange and honey. Sweetish toasty body with touches of dark fruit and faintly of marmalade, the burnt and lightly bitter flavours taking the edge off the toffeeish sweetness.
3.4 Burnt orange color; clear. Malt aroma comprised of dates, oily nuts, burnt honey, rich wheat bread. Basic, clean. Deep notes of old wood and mild vinegar. Plain, but satiating malt flavor. Amber honey, distant cinnamon, various aerated spices. Crisp palate; lots of crystal malt is somewhat quieter than it would seem.
3.5 Red/brown color , medium off-white head. Aroma of malt , dark fruits, toffee and caramel. Same notes in the taste.Gentle roasted bitterness and warming aftertaste.
3.4 330ml bottle. Says 6.1% on the label. Pours deep red. Aroma of dark fruits especially blackcurrant. Tastes malty and fruity. Blackcurrants again. Head has totally disappeared. Quite a dry finish. Decent if not great.
3.2 Not particularly memorable scottish ale. Dominated by the malts and rich in caramel and toffee. Off putting aftertaste.
2.9 No comment more than the one tweet two years of y I to y a I don't think that I have
3.4 Draught @ Bubba Gump NYC: This one poured a crystal clear amber color. There was a very small head that didn’t linger long or leave much lacing. Some spiciness and malts, but no real sweetness to the aroma. Decent enough taste. Somewhat dry, malts, spices. Pretty smooth. Not bad.
3.1 Pours a dark golden color with an off white head. Aroma and flavor of subtle malt and spice.
3.4 Scores a touch low. A wee heavy this is not, but it warms up nicely to be a malty toffee and fruit forward Scottish ale. Very light smoke and hops. Finished sweet. Pleasant, if not too complex.
3.9 Clear deep chestnut amber with a head that recedes really quickly. Sweet raisin and lightly cherry accented toffee nose of winter ale malt. Smooth and sweet nutty flavor with some nice dates and cherries with a doughy brown malt and belgian candy sugar. Nuanced and flavorful but needed more body.
