Brooklyner Weisse

Brooklyner Weisse

Brooklyner Weisse is a Bavarian-style wheat beer, unfiltered and chock full of spicy esters that evoke hints of cloves and fruit, some say even bananas. The beer is made with a traditional weizen yeast strain. The malt mix is half malted wheat and half barley malt. The hops are Perle, from Germany. Bitterness is low to medium.

3.3 on tap. Murky dark yellow in color with minimal off-white head. Aroma is herbal with banana and clove. Moderately sweet with prominent banana notes. Light-to-medium bodied with soft carbonation. Different.
3.2 Sample at the brewery taproom. Slightly hazy yellow-gold color with a medium white head that recedes steadily. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of wheat, banana and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of spicy wheat, bananas and toasted malt. The finish is sweet with a banana aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.
3.3 Brooklyn Bowl, Brooklyn tap: Pours hazy orange with a white head. Aroma is banana, bubblegum, hints of spice, and maybe some other fruity notes. The beer is slightly too sweet for my taste sometimes, but on days that I am in the mood, it is refreshing and easy to drink. Nice full fruity flavors throughout. Very subdued hops.
3.3 Tap at Roasthouse Pub. Pours lightly hazy gold with a small, fizzy white head, short retention with spare lacing. Aroma is banana and cloves, spicy wheat malt, light earthy hops and faint lemon. Flavor is moderate earthy wheat malt, banana and cloves, spicy hops and light bitterness with a dry finish. Light body and moderate carbonation.
3.6 Very cloudy and a dark yellow colour are forgiven after a sweet aroma is released. The taste of bananas is noticeable within what may resemble a malt flavor. Not bad overall.
3.2 Tap at the Blind Tiger, NYC, 25/11/13. A little disappointed all told as had presumed this was a play on words for a Berliner not a Hefe !!! Hazed orange yellow with thin off white pondwork. Nose is lemon rind, straw, light spice. Taste comprises orange peel, corriander, lemon rind, straw. Medium bodied, fine carbonation with a little spritz, crisp finale . Ok.
3.6 tima hefeweizen americana. Cor amarelo, turva, com boa formação de espuma. No aroma, notas de banana e cravo. Na boca, corpo médio, com toques fenolicos e amargor interessante, com ótimo final. Ótima breja!
3.1 Cloudy amber color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of yeast, clove, & caramel; Flavor of wheat, some yeast, caramel, and bananas; Pretty decent.
3.1 Aroma: Banana, Clove, Mild Wheat Appearance: Mildly Hazy Golden Straw Hue, Passes Most Light, Thick White Head, Mild Lacing Taste: Mild Wheat, Mild Banana Mouthfeel: Decent Carbonation, Light to Medium Bodied, Mildly Watery
3.2 On draft at the Brass Tap, poured a golden yellow color with aromas of wheat, light clove, a touch of lemon, and some banana. Flavors are the same, yeasty finish, decent hefe overall.
3.8 Líquido amarelo opaco. Creme denso e branco. Aroma médio de cravo. Boa weisse. Tanto o cravo quanto a banana perceptíveis. Muito boa mesmo!!!
2.9 On tap at Brooklyn Brewery. Pours a golden yellow with a white head and aroma of wheat and spices. Taste is of spices, cloves, lemon, bananna, and wheat with a fruity finish.
3.3 Light golden color with a thin head. Aromas juicy fruit (gum), wheat-y, hay and light grassy hops. Flavors light juicy fruit, hay and grass hops. Medium sweet with a grain/corn-like aftertaste. Decent hefe.
3.3 Draft at Khyber Pass. Hazy amber pour with some white foam. Maybe more a lager with wheat beer notes. Just a touch sour, so not what one might expect from the style. Very easy drinking despite a little spice in the finish.
3.5 Hazy golden color with a white head. Spicy yeast aroma. Nice citrus and banana notes on the palate. Appropriate acidity. Nice for the summer.
3.1 Draught@Brooklyn Brewery. Slightly cloudy, pale golden color, white head. Slightly sulfuric aroma. Toasty flavor with lemony notes. Medium-light body, medium-high carbonation. It’s worth a try.
3.6 28.06.2013, tap @ the brewery: Nice creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly fruity, wheat, yeast, banana, dough, hay, bubblegum, citrus. Taste is slightly sweet fruity, wheat, yeast, dough, hay, citrus, banana, grass. Little bitterness, a little too much carbonation. Not bad at all. There are lots of German weizen that is not even close to this one.
2.8 Served up at New Bohemia in a Hacker Pschorr glass. This didn’t bode well as Hacker Pschorr Weisse may be the perfect beer and it’s a lot to live up to. Decent freshness with excessive head on the pour. Tastes like a lazy weisse which seems to be the theme for Brooklyn Brewery...a lack of effort. If you’re slumming it for a night and need this style, an OK option.
2.9 Tap at Happy Gnome. Clear yellow gold pour with a small head. Nice aroma of unripened banana and a touch of yeast. Taste is a bit of corn and lager - not great.
3.3 Pours a hazy golden yellow. Aroma of sweet honey, corn and light bread. Taste is lightly sweet. With a tart lemon taste followed by a corn flavor. A good representation.
3.3 Pours a cloudy light orange. Has a sweet, citrus and wheaty aroma. A sweet taste at first that has a slightly hoppy aftertaste.
3.6 Best before November 2013. Appearance: The body is a cloudy straw to amber color with a creamy white head. The head fills out my glass nicely and has average retention, it settles into a thick and creamy ring though. Aroma: The aroma is doughy and earthy, perhaps a tad chalky, with light spice and bubblegum with just a touch of tartness. Taste: The taste follows the aroma nicely with an earthy base that allows for the spices from the yeast and the bubblegum notes to accent it nicely while hints of banana add a layer of complexity. Palate: Medium bodied, high amounts of carbonation. Overall: This is very reminiscent of Apollo by Sixpoint though not as fruity. Brooklyner Weisse has good complexity and is very refreshing, this is something that will be great through the Summer.
3.3 Cloudy yellow pour with a white head. Aromas of yeasty esters, banana, clove, white pepper. Taste is similar, with a fruity peppery kick. Finishes quite dry with a fine carbonation. Pretty good.
3.2 (Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm, 6 May 2013) Cloudy brownish yellow colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with bread, banana and clove. Classic hefeweizen aromas. Malty, fruity taste with notes of banana, bread, citrus, clove, esters, toffee and a fairly dry finish. Medium body. Well made hefeweizen. Quite nice.
3.3 Draught @ Akkurat. Pours golden with a white head. Nice modern take on a hefe. The banana and clove notes are there, aswell as a touch of citrusy hops. Smooth. Maybe a bit too clean/kind.
3.3 On tap at Akkurat, April 2013. A bit hazy deep golden with a large white head. Aroma and taste of banana, light spices, some citrus and wheat. On the thin side but quite refreshing. This one felt fairly authentic.
3.2 Tap. Cloudy apricot with nice white head. Nice wheat beer aromas with bananas and coriander. No bitterness and a small sweetness. A bit thin on the body and the taste intensity. Ok American wheat.
4.0 Light banana aroma. Pour is clearer than most hefeweizens. Taste is fruity with light clove notes and a light banana aftertaste. Slightly fizzy on the.palate. Brooklyner Weisse is a good hefeweizen although it slightly deviates from the.traditional style.
3.5 [keg at the Brooklyn Brewery] Reasonably cloudy orangey yellow pour, with a large white head. Sweet banana aroma, with more than a fair bit of lemon on the nose as well – together with the expected wheat and bready notes. Similar flavours. Really drinkable stuff [26112012]
