Bruery Terreux Sour in the Rye

Bruery Terreux Sour in the Rye

Sour in the Rye is an American wild ale. A challenging beer to brew due to the substantial amount of rye malt, but you’ll be glad we took the time. The character of the rye asserts itself with clove and pepper in the aroma and flavor, and contributes a full body not generally found in sour beers. Pleasantly sour with notes of tart cherry, rustic earth and vanilla notes from a year-plus of barrel aging.

4.0 It had a nice aroma and the palette was chill but it was a bit too hipster for me
3.8 Bottle shared, bought from Beergium. Pours golden color. Aroma of tartness, citrus, spices, malts, yeast, wood, earth, sweetness, rye bread. Medium body, high tartness and fruitiness with some earthy notes. Good sour ale, pleasant and mellow even with high zestiness.
3.8 750ml bottle pours out copper topped with a fizzy head. Nose is nice tart sour notes berries some wood funk. Taste is more of the nice berries a pucker tart funk and some spice.
3.8 Hazy mahogany pour with a one finger, fizzy tan head. Aroma is earthy grain, spice, clove, cherry, plum, earthy and sweet oaky notes, cedar. Flavor is toast, caramel, spicy and earthy rye, sweet and super tart berries, lots of wild funk and tartness, sweet tarts, some nice vanilla- laden toasty oak. Medium body, surprisingly creamy entry, slightly syrupy middle, big acidic bite, heavy, sharp carbonation. Good stuff, maybe a bit too acidic for the largely earthy, savory tone.
4.1 Bottle 2015 vintage @ Chmielarnia, Marszalkowska, Warsaw May 2018. Quite clear orange body with a small off-white head. Aroma is acidic fruit, berries, malt, vinegar and wood. Flavor is quite dry, acidic fruit, ripe fruit, mild malt, some vinegar, wood, funk and vinous. Fine body and dry, acidic fruity/vinous aftertaste. Very nice.
4.2 Bruery Terreux Sour tastes like a combination of a sour red and a geuze added rhubarb and a touch of cinnamon, complex and refreshing, very nice.
4.1 Fruity esters (stone & dark fruits)~prominent funk~rye spiciness~crisp, toffee-like malt profile~some tannins, woody notes~lactic acid~dry.
4.0 A 750ml bottle, 2015 vintage, bottled on 17th April 2015. Poured into a 3 Fonteinen stemmed glass. It was a lightly hazy dark orange copper colour with a just under two finger beige head that had decent retention and left some spotty lacing. Aromas were lightly sour and tart mixed berries with oak and vanilla and a hint of clove. Tastes very much like the aroma with sour and tart mixed berries, notes of oak and vanilla along with hints of clove, vinegar and a light spice on the finish. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, a good Wild Ale with nice taste and aromas.
4.2 Berries, blackcurrant, tarty and moldy. Cloudy golden to amber color with small sized white head. Sour fruit taste, berries, just wonderful. Thin body, sparkly carbonation, heavily astringent. Loved it!
3.8 Copper color. Thin , white head. Strong acidity, rye spiciness and funky notes in aroma. Strong sourness in taste with distinctive rye notes.
3.9 Hazy orange body. Distinct exotic aroma. Well balanced sour flavour. Interesting.

3.6 Nice sour, heavily acidic but layered, with a vicious front-sided salty-sour citrus-n-berry attack followed up by subtly sweet notes of oak, vanilla, clove, yeast, and earth. Tartness kind of bleaches out the rye, and there's definitely room for some funk or leather to deepen the back end, but still an enjoyable pint. Pours a hazed amber with a brief white head and no lace. Impressive nose gives off tons of citric sourness, oak, and vinous undercurrents. Perky feel has a little bit of spiciness to it. Good.
3.9 Roggy OrangeSalty. Tart, sämig & subtil bananasweet✨👍 Big Bottle from BEERGIUM.COM.
3.6 750ml bottle from Park Royal LRS at Ilya's. 7.6% ABV. Vintage 2015. Pours a pale clear copper with a tan head. Aroma is fruity, a bit sweet, barrel notes. Taste is similar, quite acidic. Not bad, but I would prefer it to be not that acidic.
4.2 Bottle, 750 ml, from Beergium. Shared with rest of the crew. Pours hazy dark orange with small white head. Fruity, berries, citrus, funk, quite sour, low carbonation. Dry. Nice one, less sourness thank POG version.

4.2 Bottle from Beerdome, 2016 vintage consumed 02-2018. Super fruity aroma with wood, peach, apricot, soft rye, and a little funk. Flavour is nicely puckering sour with a little sweetness and a dry finish. Body is medium. Such a wonderful fruity Sour, really quite tasty.
4.9 Way yup.
3.8 On tap at Miller's Pub in the Chicago Loop. Pours a hazy, lighter than IPA color with a bit of a head. Aroma of sour grapes and funk, some citrus, some caramel malts. Taste is tart, earthy, strong funk, grapes. Medium bodied. Finishes quite tart. 13.8
4.0 Bottle shared by Pilsnertest, many thanks! Hazy amber with a short white head. Very tart with peaches, lemon, some white wine vinegar, goldbären and some oak. Just a tad to sour for it to blow me away, still very tasty.
4.6 Draft at Mikkeller Bar SF. Pours a golden orange with minimal head. Aromas of gauva, yeast, sour berries and passion fruit. Taste is upfront sour passion fruit and orange peel. Yeastie zest at the backend. Rye bitterness to finish. Fucking sensational.
4.2 Pours a clear bright orange with a thin ring of white bubbles. Crisp tart aroma with notes of wood. Bold, clean, crisp, and tart fruity taste. Full mouth burst of flavors. Smooth finish with a long lingering tart puckering aftertaste. Refreshing and very enjoyable.
3.6 2015-09-26 Bouteille.
Vanillenoten, etwas Barrique, sehr spritzig.
3.5 2013 bottle at home via Broery membership and four years of rotting in my parent’s basement. Fairly clear, dark burnt orange appearance with a cream colored head. Heavy acetic acid, blood oranges, and spice in the aroma. Moderately high sourness. The flavor has more red fruit like cherries along with some citrus fruit. There’s definitely some vinegar notes and is almost reminiscent of a Flanders Red. It’s a little harshly acidic but it is kind of tasty, especially with the spiciness from the rye. Kind of fun to try but not something I’d want to drink too often.
4.0 Dégustée à l'automne 2015 (De mes notes). Merci MAM .
3.8 750ml bottle. Thanks, Sten. Pours amber colour. No head. Earthiness, slight barnyard, notes of burnt caramel, acidity, vinegar, oak in the aroma. Acidity, notes of burnt caramel, notes of sherry, acidity, notes of plums, sourness. Acidic and dry finish. Plums and acidity in the aftertaste. Rather medium bodied, complex, acidic brew. Nice one.
3.8 January 21, 2014 - with blankboy, jercraigs & mabel - 750ml bottle. Hazy amber-gold with an average lasting foamy mottled beige head. Frickin’ sour aroma - sour and fruity. Taste - sour fruit, alcohol and some bitterness from oak tannin - a nice bite to it - the barrel seemed to impart a bit of brandy or other brown liquor character - lovely, if hugely sour. Acidic, solid carbonation, long dry sour finish ... straightforward but bloody fun; I could have drunk the whole bottle.
