Abbey beer, ruby colour, top-fermentation beer, outstanding owing to its soft flavour and fantastic aroma. This beer’s name comes from the French Capuchins, who had a monastery in Budel at the beginning of the last century.

2.830cl bottle bb07/2014, aged NL sampler from Bier&Co. Pours like tawny port, smells like strawberry liqueur and tawny port, tastes like liquorice-spiked strawberry and plum liqueur with cheap old Rumtopf-soaked strawberries and a surprising, harsh and spicy, kitchen cabinet hop bitterness (nutmeg, bayleaf). Subcomplex for an abbey beer, although the minimal/puristic approach is laudable (no adjuncts used). Slightly sticky finish, soggy mouthfeel (probably not entirely due to aging).
