Budweiser Black Crown

Budweiser Black Crown

With a blend of two-row caramel malt and four types of domestic hops, Budweiser Black Crown is finished on a bed of Beechwood chips for a smooth, balanced taste. Incorporating the proprietary yeast directly descended from the original Budweiser yeast strain used by Adolphus Busch in 1876, Budweiser Black Crown retains the key characteristics of Budweiser with its clean taste and high drinkability. Featuring more body, color and hop character than the flagship lager, it also has a slightly higher alcohol content at 6% ABV.

2.6 Ehh. It’s Budweiser. You shouldn’t be expecting a gourmet experience. It’s drinkable if you don’t have anything else.
3.2 Pours a clear mostly amber color. Could be a tad darker before I call it amber. Nice frothy head. Some lacing. Aroma is caramel. Roasted malt. Bread. Maybe some hops. The caramel aroma is the best feature, it’s pretty strong. It smells similar to regular Budweiser, but the caramel makes it a little richer. Taste is hoppier than Budweiser. It’s a tad sweet. I really don’t have a lot to say about the taste. Mouthfeel is medium. While it’s well carbonated, it’s actually soft to the finish, which is weird. I don’t really like it. It finishes bitter. Overall, this is pretty good. It’s somewhat odd. It’s not complex, but they may have tried a little too hard with this. Sometimes, "less is more." I don’t really find this so enjoyable because it’s hard to pick out any certain characteristics. It’s worth a try, and it’s still a pretty offering from Budweiser.
2.3 Well, what can I say? I was thirsty as all-get-out, it’s hot as a two-dollar pistol in Atlanta, and this is what they had. Pours clear amber with a fairly thick but effervescent ivory head. Weak aroma is fruity and malty. Flavor is actually OK, more fruity than malty, pear with some apple. Mouthfeel has average body, but fizz leaves something to be desired. OK for a party or while watching your favorite team kick ass.
3.0 Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. Aroma- Has a soft aroma of malt and hops, faint but there Appearance- A dark copper colored brew with a medium sized white head. Taste- An okay BMC product, does not compare on the flavor chart to a craft. not horrible Palate- Has a nice crisp feel, light bodied brew with heavy carbonation. Overall- An ok beer if the place you are at has a limited selection. There are many worse beers out there.
2.1 12 ounce single bottle from Hickory Tavern in Charlotte, NC, but widely available everywhere. Pours a lightly dark amber color with a thin head. Aroma is grassy and a bit of hops. Taste is super boring. This is just a stronger version of Budweiser with no redeeming quality what so ever.
3.1 Can - Sweet pale malts. Clear gold with a decent white head. Sweet pale malts and light apple.
1.9 Ok, so I tried it out because I thought it would add one more beer to my board. Not a fan of house brews, but they hold the advantage of making us love high quality craft beer! 341ml amber bottle poured in a pilsner glass at 4 degrees: The pour is fluid/aqueous with a clear dark straw color showing some orange shades. Big carbs topped by a vivid rough white foam fading completely leading to no apparent lacing. The nose is grainy, mostly, but also has some sweets (caramel maybe) and a metal element in the background. NOthing more to say. On the tongue, the grainy malts come first and clear the way for that those sweet/metallic features not really adding an enjoyable aspect to the beer. They last quite a while on the palate so the finish is as... shall we say bothersome.
1.6 From a bottle. Pours almost clear gold with a fizzy white head. Tastes like stale malt, straw, and musky corn. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like musky straw, corn, not much aroma.
1.6 Bottle. Pours clear amber with fizzy white head. Aroma is musty corn, light caramel, light spice, and some funky wood character. Flavor is dry and funky, not too offensive but definitely some cooked corn notes. Medium body and light carbonation.
2.0 Bottle shared by sonnycheeba. Thanks? Pours a transparent golden with a layer of off white head. Aroma of malts and malts. Taste of malts and with a beech wood finish.
2.0 [6196-20140228] Bottle. Muted stinky feet cheese aroma has a bit of a straw base. Clear, pale orange body with a quick foamy white head head. Yeasty candied straw flavour. Light-medium body. Poor. (4/2/4/2/8) 2.0 (c/o Greg Clow, w/ him, blankboy, HogTownHarry, jercraigs, JoeMcPhee)
2.8 Certainly not the worst A-B offering available... but that’s not indicative of "craft style" change by the macrobrewery. It pours a clear amber into the glass, with a weak soda head that diminishes to no lacing. The nose is of circus peanuts and some marshmallow. Flavors are very subdued, malty caramel and some light woody notes, finishing with aerated sugars and nondescript hops that don’t make a real difference in the grand scheme. The mouthfeel is light and the palate has soft carbonation. Overall, for a brewer with so many resources, you can’t tell me that A-B can’t produce a "real" substantive, complex craft offering, especially when the craft scene is so huge. Not one? Really? Oh well, again, this certainly isn’t the worst offering A-B has produced. But it’s just a shame that phrase has to sum up A-B’s approach to the craft brewing world.
1.5 In bottle. Tastes like yellow colored water. Almost zero palate. Quite aqueous. Not a bad flavor, but not good either. Just kind of blah.
1.8 slight malt aroma. golden and clear with little head. taste is slightly malty upfront with a watery finish
2.2 Backlog rating on 11-20-2012 (Bottle) This beer’s appearance is a small ivory head that mostly diminishes, transparent gold body, very fizzy, fast rising carbonation, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is caramel malt and a suggestion of hops. The flavor is semi-sweet, caramel malt and a suggestion of corn. The mouthfeel is smooth and this beer is light-medium bodied. This beer lacks much aroma and flavor and did not set the world on fire for me.
4.4 I was looking for a beer for the days end and sports. It had all the pleasant taste and fullness without the bitter after taste. This is my first choice now.
1.3 Why do I do this? Poured from 12 oz bottle a deep golden amber color with a quickly dissipating off white head. Aroma of Bud-Skunk, dirty bar carpet, sweet corn malt and dirty, wet grass. Flavour was of thin malt, caramel, and a dominate corn character. It finishes with what I can imagine what a dirty and wet kitchen towel would taste like. Classic, Mega-Macro, American swill. Pass....
2.9 Never been to big on amber lagers. But this one was ok. Not as popular as I think it deserves, yet still something good Budweiser made
1.7 "A little more to it than I expected. Though not good, or something I’d seek out again, it is within the realm of if I’m at someone’s house and that’s the best they have, I’d take it over nothing. Still has the macro corny feel and flavor, but a little bready malt as well. Light, almost undiscernable hops."
2.7 As the label advertizes, this is indeed a golden amber lager. It has a typical A-B short-lived fizzy white head. It’s a step above most of the brews that have "Budweiser" on the label in that it actually has a discernible aroma, caramel with a touch of toffee. Not as carbonated as most Buds are, I won’t be burping all night. The flavor is light, caramel and little else. No trace of hops. The finish is abrupt; when the swallow is over, no aftertaste follows. Nothing great, but more drinkable than most A-B beers.
2.4 I knew this one would have a low rating, but 9 out of 100? I know this isn’t a craft beer, but it’s not that bad. Aroma and appearance are below average, but all I really care about is the taste, and this one is surprisingly flavorful for an AB product. The palate is better than one would think too. Fizzy, refreshing without being too watery. A drinkable choice if you have to buy your beer from a gas station.
2.5 Transfer from BA review on 2-7-13- Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – Pours a medium amber color with a two finger yellow tinted head. The head fades over about a 3 min time frame to leave only a trace of lacing on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma was light with it consisting of mainly some corn aromas. With this smell is a light aroma of caramel as well some biscuit. Taste – The taste starts out with a rather strong corn taste with some notes of a bready nature mixed within. Flavors of a light caramel sweetness as well as a light herbal and woody taste. At the end some rather flavors of a paper and some boozy tastes come to the tongue leaving a slightly bitter, alcohol and bready flavor to be left on the tongue. Mouthfeel –The body of the beer was on the medium to slightly above medium side in terms of its thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is on the average side. The brew may have actually been better with a lighter body as the thickness seemed to accentuate the more off flavors that come to the tongue at the end. Overall – It was rather like a malt, but not a great malt and more expensive and less effective than the average. If you want a Bud, stick with the regular or the American and pass on this.
1.9 473ml can. Clear, light amber colour. Basically no head or lacing. Mild caramel malt smell. Creamy, grain and amber malt flavours, not much hops. Slightly watery and creamy body. Overall, there are worse ways to get 6% ABV into you.
1.9 Aroma of bread, taste is bready, some spice, mild hops, an easy drinker for sure.
4.7 Nice summer beer. Not to dark not to light. Not usually a Bud guy, but this is alright.
2.3 Look: pours a dark brown color. Smell: malt. Sweet flavor. Taste: malt. Sweet caramel toffee notes. Feel: medium carbonation. No film on the mouth. Overall: an attempt at craft beer. First drank: lake of the ozarks 8/5/14
1.8 A deep amber lager brewed with two-row and caramel malts and finished with beechwood chips
2.5 Dourada escura, quase âmbar intenso. Bem carbonatada, com espuma generosa para o venero, mas com baixa duração. Prevalece malte, fermento e baixo amargor. Cerveja redonda, com grande drinkability. Sem defeitos existem grande atrativos. Destaca no final algo metálico.
2.9 Come on beer snobs, this one isnt terrible. I hate Bud as much as the next guy but this is an average beer.
0.7 Definite corn taste and pour aroma.heavy metallic smell. Very clear and fizzy. Like I said corn taste... Horrible attempt at a craft beer like substance.
