Buffalo Bills America's Original Pumpkin Ale

Buffalo Bills America's Original Pumpkin Ale

Since its inception in 1985, America’s Original Pumpkin Ale has become a Fall tradition. Much of Buffalo Bill’s acclaim originates from this beloved autumn brew. Made with real pumpkin and spices, it has a golden amber color, and the sweet aroma of warm pumpkin pie, 6% ABV.

2.9 12 oz bottle pours amber with a off white head. Aroma of pumpkin, cloves and grains. Taste is spice, pumpkin and malts.
2.7 12 oz single bottle from Wilburs, into a pint glass. Reddish amber and pretty clear appearance with one finger of khaki colored foam. Aroma of pumpkin spice, cinnamon, nutmeg, toasted grain, allspice and clove. Similar flavor, typical pumpkin and fall spiciness with mild sweetness and light bitterness. Light to medium body, a little thin with a crisp feel and a spiced finish. A little over the top, as are most pumpkin beers. Pretty straightforward but fairly easy to drink overall. Pairing: Phish: Split Open and Melt -> Buffalo Bill -> Makisupa Policeman -> Rift, from 10/29/94, Spartanburg Memorial Stadium, SC (21 years ago today)
2.2 Pours a clear coppery color with off-white head. Roasted pumpkin, malt, and some squash notes on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with more vegetal pumpkin than I like.
3.3 A bit of vegetal pumpkin with cinnamon and cloves in the aroma from a fairly dark amber body with tan head. Cloves and nutmeg kick into high gear along with cinnamon in the taste and a brown sugar sweetness. There’s a sour note that comes up mid-palate that’s distracting and I’m guessing that comes from the pumpkin. Body is a bit thin and watery. Finishes with a lot of spice but not overwhelmingly so. The first commercial pumpkin ale I can remember, but not the best, and also not the worst.
3.5 Bottle pour. The beer is a darker copper color. Clear. White head. The aroma has nice levels of nutmeg and a good sweetness. More mild spice. Good graham cracker notes. Medium body and medium carbonation.
3.4 12 oz bottle. Sweet autumn aroma. Poured a slightly unfiltered deep amber color with a beige head and nice head retention. Taste of cinnamon, spice, pumpkin, and clove. Average carbonation, medium body. Slightly unpleasant lingering spice on the palate in my opinion. All in all though, one of the best smelling pumpkin beers around with a not too shabby flavor to boot. Cheers
3.7 Pours two fingers of head on a dark body. The aroma is brown sugar, smoke, pumpkin and milk. The taste is bread and mild spice. The texture is thicker and smooth. Nice.
3.3 12 oz. bottle. Pours orange/amber with diminishing white head. Aroma of pumpkin and spices. Taste, pumpkin flavor and spices.
3.9 Terrific pumpkin beer with great aftertaste and smoothness that is wonderful in the fall.
3.7 Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. Aroma- Has a pumpkin, cinnamon and malt aroma, very nice Appearance- This beer is a dark amber color with a medium sized white head. Taste- Has a nice flavor, the pumpkin is there but not as pronounced as I like. Palate- This beer has a medium body with moderate carbonation. Overall- A solid pumpkin ale.
3.0 Old rating. Bottle from Old Town. Aromas of pumpkin pie, clove, cinnamon all present on the nose. Average carbonation but texture is a little too thin. Light to medium body and slightly sweet on the palate. Just OK.
3.5 12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 11/13/2014. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy orange/copper color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of pumpkin, toasted biscuit, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and solid complexity of bready malt, pumpkin, and spice notes; with solid strength. Taste of pumpkin, toasted biscuit, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Minimal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of pumpkin, toasted biscuit, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Good balance and solid robustness of bready malt, pumpkin, and spice flavors; with no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a very smooth and slightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is ok. A little watered down feeling in mouthfeel, but not bad. Alcohol is well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very solid pumpkin ale. All around good balance and solid robustness/complexity of bready malt, pumpkin, and spice flavors; and very smooth to drink. A pleasantly enjoyable offering.
3.8 Awesome pumpkin beer. I'd buy this again. Pair it with some pumpkin ice cream. Pumpkin beer float.
2.6 Bottle. Allspice, pumpkin and cinnamon candle. Thin. Not very tasty. Definitely not something I would drink again.
2.5 From a bottle. Pours hazy copper with a bubbly off white head. Smells like roasted pumpkin, light spice, light alcohol, and nutty malt. Tastes like musky, nutty malt, dry roasted pumpkin, toasted grains, and a light sweetness.
3.6 Appearance was clear amber with creamy off white 1 finger diminishing head, spotty lacing. Aromas are of pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, banana and caramel malts. Taste are semi-sweet malt upfront then pumpkin and balanced spices. Palate was soft smooth CO2 with light-medium body, then sweet balanced spicy finish. Overall, solid pumpkin brew just touch to sweet.
2.9 Julie says it is nice but boring it is a pumpkin ale that did not try to hard overall Julie gives it a 3
2.6 they did a great job with heavy use of pumpkin and spices to cover up what would be a very boring beer. low on "beer", high on spice. still thin, but if you like pumpkin and allspice, this one’s for you."
3.7 Pumpkin flesh, an interesting blend of spices, and capped with a light body that does not compromise flavor. The body isn’t pulpy or thick, and errs on the side of caution, but still offers a brisk, airy and pleasant seasonal bang.
3.4 Type: 12-oz. bottle Glass: Manzanitas pint glass From: Albertson’s in Alpine, Calif. Price: $1.67 ($9.99 for a mix 6-pack) Purchased: Sept. 30, 2014 Consumed: Oct. 4, 2014 Misc.: Enjoy by Jan. 4, 2015 Poured a dark caramel, auburn, hazy color with 1-to-2 fingers of creamy white head. A decent amount of wet foamy bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Below average spots of foamy lacing on the sides of the glass. Below average retention on the top all the way down. (Sight - 3.61) Smelled cinnamon, nutmeg, molasses, pumpkin, dark Belgian cloves, gingerbread, banana bread, honey and caramel. Very nice on the nose. (Smell - 4.22) Taste wasn’t as good as the nose, but close and still decent. Got cinnamon, pumpkin spices, nutmeg, molasses, gingerbread, banana bread, honey, roasted rye, Belgian cloves and banana. (Taste - 3.93) Medium body. Thin texture. Soft carbonation. Long, semi-warming finish. (Feel - 3.64) I’d have to crunch the numbers, but one of the better pumpkin ales I’ve had. I know I haven’t had a lot of the good ones yet though. (Overall - 3.80) 3.92 88 B+
3.5 You know onetime, this asshole (and I can’t even remember who or where) said that pumpkin pie wasn’t "real pie". It hurt my feelings. It made me mad. I love pumpkin pie. I don’t love this beer. It’s good. It’s balanced but monotone. Got it in a 6 pack sampler and that’s a perfect place for it. Drink one to try it. Write a review and move on.
2.8 Pours a clear amber with a small, creamy head. Pumpkin pie aromas: Cinnamon, clove, pumpkin. Taste is a little muddled, not something you would ask for again.
2.1 Bottle from Whole Foods in Redwood City, CA. Pours a medium to dark amber. Aroma is squash, dirty water, some cinnamon. Flavor is watery, earthy, clay, squash. Stale pumpkin pie flavoring in a moldy, water-downed 711 slurpee found in a dumpster. Minus all the good stuff.
2.8 Aroma of pumpkin spice with a clear orange color no head. A watery feel with a spicy taste and a spicy finish.
3.1 This is a good cheap little beer. It’s nothing fancy. Nice smell of pumpkin and pumpkin spice taste. Squash taste is detectable as well. It could be better it could be worse. I’m enjoying it!
2.0 Not bad for a cheaper pumpkin beer. Its very smooth with a pumpkin taste. Cool looking bottle. Happy Halloween!
3.7 Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12 oz bottle into a tulip glass. The label lists the abv at 5.2 % abv. Appearance: The body has a cloudy, deep orange amber color with a small quick fading head on top. The head fades out completely despite lots of visible carbonation rushing to the surface. Smell: It has some light spice and light squash with a light fruity candy like maltiness. Overall light but balanced. Taste / Palate: Like its aroma it has a light body with thin pumpkin pie spice and light squash like pumpkin notes. Hop flavor and bitterness are very low. The palate is light and well carbonated making it easy to drunk. Notes: It is definitely not the most complex pumpkin beer but there are no unpleasant or off flavors. The highlight to this beer is that I could drink quite a few of these in a session unlike some of the heavier spiced pumpkin ales.
3.0 Rated from notes taken 8 Sep 2012 -- I rated this a 4 out of five on Untappd, but I don’t know why. If I recall correctly I wasn’t a huge fan of this beer.
3.1 Bottle. Pale amber colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is caramel, malt, hop, pumkin. Flavour is caramel, malt, hop, pumkin, spices. Carbonated. Ordinary beer.
2.9 12oz bottle @ Knife and Fork (Atlantic City) for 4 year anniversary. I had everything else on the menu before so don't judge!.... Yea that means you Dave! Pours a clear burnt orange color with very minimal fizzy off white head. Aroma of toasted malts and lots of pumpkin pie spices. Taste is slightly yeasty, sour citrus, grain, and pumpkin pie spice.
