Butternuts Porkslap Pale Ale

Butternuts Porkslap Pale Ale

Porkslap is a new interpretation of the English Pale Ale with a hint of fresh ginger spices (and without their tendency toward cross dressing). It’s balanced, not overly bitter, easy to drink and incredibly refreshing.
We brew PorkSlap with two row barley and a little chocolate malt for color. It pours orange and crystal clear with a frothy white head. If your nose is working, you might get a little malty whiff that soon gives way to pure thirst quenching goodness and happy satisfaction.
The finish is clean, crisp and dry, and it plays really nice with spicy food like tex-mex, bbq or hot wings.
Go ahead. Slap that pig.

3.7 can at Zavino at Drexel University - nice orangey color. Good slightly hoppy, slightly malty flavor.
2.5 355ml can. Clear, amber colour with average, thick, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Weak caramel malty aroma, a mild touch of red berries. Taste is minimally sweet malty, slightly bitter hoppy, cautious hints of re berries, a minimally soapy touch of ginger. Quite expressionless, thirst quenching; ordinary mineral water would do as well.
3.1 Malt in the nose with some mild hops at the end. Light reddish golden pour with small foam. Light bodied with strong fizz. The caramel malt is up front and the finish has a slight hoppy sour bitterness. Some spice appears after some time. Sampled at Wurst Party Ever 7 November 2015.
3.1 Pours from can orange amber with huge off-white head that slowly recedes leaving lace and skim. Froth is ginger and chalk, masking other aromas. Once it diminishes, there’s also a whiff of burnt waffle. Palate mixes bitter, caramel, herbal and leather notes. Nice finish, crisp and dry, but this needs to play off food.
2.6 Sampled on draught at The Horseshoe in Hampstead. A dark golden colour with a white head. It has some of the maltiness of an English bitter, but with slightly unexpected hints of chocolate and caramel. Some notes of spruce, ginger and leather and a mildly bitter finish. A little bit underpowered, but quite an interesting take on an English-style beer.
2.9 On can, hazy golden orange color- good foam. Medium/light aroma intensity; fruity, some ginger. Medium body & Complexity . Ok bitterness & balance . Pretty ok beer
3.1 Gylden brun klar med fingerhøyt beige skum. Fruktig lukt, noe fudge. Middels fylde. Middels bitterhet, sitrusskall. Lett sødme mot sydhavsfrukt og fudge. Kort
4.1 One of the first craft beers i ever drank, it’s still a favorite. super easy to drink, low alcohol and cheap!
3.2 Can in NYC. Appearance unrateable. Aroma sweet candy sugar malts. Med carb and bod. Taste sweet similar to aroma.
2.8 Lukt: Bacon og smørmalt. Utseende: Rødgul. Skum/kullsyre: Tynt skum, heng langs kant. Smak: Bacon, toffe og smørmalt. Hvor: Kjøpt@Det Gode Brygg, Sandnes, Nydt@Tasting hjemme med Bryne. Medium: Boks@330ml, ABV@4,1%, Når@18.05.2016
2.4 Farmhouse ale? Ehh and just a hint of ginger. This was a quite disappointing thingy. Clear golden color with a white head. A quite moderate aroma. Decent balance between sweetness and bitterness. Malty, herbal and a hint of ginger. [Can from Gulating at Lørenskog, Norway]
2.8 Can from Det Gode Brygg, Sandnes. hazy deep golden/copper with a big creamy off-white head. Aroma of hay, grainy malts, spices and ginger. Taste is moderate sweet, harsh caramel, very weak ginger at the short finish.
3.2 Pretty lightly hopped for the style but well-balanced with a pleasant hint of citrus. Nice enough session beer.
3.3 Orange gold pour. Foamy head. Light bodied. Light sweetness followed by orange peel bitterness. Dry finish. Solid low alcohol beer.
3.0 Pours orange Amber with a light head. The aroma is bready and lightly citrus. Taste is lightly sweet with a bit of grainy maltiness. Light bitterness. Clean finish.
2.5 Smooth dark yellow pour, very little aroma. Flavor is a little bland... some grain presence and a little cream in the body. Blended well but not too distinct.
2.0 Can marked 07/15/15. Nose dusted with lightly herbal hops and mild crystal. Pours clear pale orange with a huge and fizzy-pathetic bone head. Taste light-medium bitter, faint tang with too-strong crystal, but there’s some deliciousness there as well. Some alcohol showing (!?), really dries out, light woody and herbal spice. Full, slightly leathery, sharp body, touch of chalk in the aftertaste. More than a little dirty. Bitterness the best thing about this, even if it’s a bit sharp, and it’s a clear set-it-and-forget it for pizza and wings. [2015.12.26: 2.0]
1.7 Burk tryp hotel nyc. Orange vätska. Ganska intetsägande i både doft och smak. Vattnig. Lätt kryddig.
1.8 Burk på tryp nyc. Orangegul med vitt skum. Doft av bröd. Lätt och smaklös. Inte särskilt bra.
2.9 Pour from a 12oz can. Clear amber brew wit white head. Aroma of light malts, fruit, hints of spice. Taste is weak malts up front, some tart fruit in the middle and a rather nice finish with citrus and spice hops (maybe some ginger) in the end. But it is weak all through the swallow. Watery palate.
2.8 Burk @ Flying Saucer, Nashville. Grumlig bärnstensfärgad med ett medelstort vitt skum som snart sjunker ihop. Malt, gräs, citrus och tall i såväl smak som doft. Något tunn, medel mot liten beska.
3.3 Can at America on Tap Deep golden color with a decent white head. Rich bready caramel maltiness with some earth and citrus hop top counter. Decent Pale ale.
3.3 On tap at the stag in Hampstead. Pale amber, slightly cloudy, fresh citrous aroma, a rather malty palate with pine and fruity undertones. The finish is slightly bitter. Not too much hop action but a pleasant ale.
3.1 Sampled from a 12 oz can this beer poured a vibrant orange-caramel color with an enormous creamy-fluffy orange-white head that lingered and left excellent lacing. The aroma was tagny and sweetish with notes of phenol, chalk , citrus and perfume. The flavor was tart, tangy and semi sweet with a bit of chalk and notes of lemon and perfume. Medium length finish. Medium body. Pleasant.
2.3 Really nothing going on here. Lightest hint of citrus, but really not much trace of hops. Pours orange with ok head. Light bitter finish. Can at a bar in D.C.
2.8 Appearance: Standard brown, some white head. Aroma: Some malt and fruit. Taste: Good fruit, hops. Some nice bitterness. Bought: American Tap Room (Reston), 355 ml can, $5.00 Info: 15/9-2015
3.7 Fruity aroma, bubblegum, mild ginger, applish. Mild Hay bubblegum, verybalanced, mild sweet, mild bubblegum- very good. Thick fizzy texture. Overall, this is very nice.
3.3 Can says "Farmhouse Ale"...but this definitely tastes more like a pale ale. Has a slight Belgian feel...extra carbonation like a saison, but the flavor is mostly APA. Cloudy medium orange appearance. Flavor of caramel malt, mild citrus and hops. This is a good year round beer and works for anytime of the day.
2.9 Oddly the stags head draft line was done but since I was here grab a quick brew and leave. From a can Light creamy orange pour soapy head. Nose is malty and Bready. Tastes of malt, toast, straw, some tea. Thin watery palate. Odd aftertaste.
2.9 Orange can. Gold top. Served cold. Nose is caramel with light toast. Taste is like buttered toast with a grassy hop flavor. Very bready and toasty as it warms. Less butter. Decent but not great by any means.
